Finally someone has seen the light - the 25-06 is IT. With correct shotplacement it will bring down CPX 1, 2, and 3 game, the only cartridge to do so. I suggest you test your grouping at 250m, the projectile does not stablise until about then, shooting groups at 100 yards is in my opinion a waste of time. I also suggest you use Hods 31SC powder, for most of your 30-06 cartridge type cases, certainly for the 25-06. Moreover the 25-06 needs and loves at least a 26" barrel.

Have a ton of different calibers but the 25-06 is still my all around favorite. Use a Savage 110 with a 26" 1-10 barrel and get 3100fps (just starting to show extractor mark) with Retumbo and Speer 120gr BTSPs. Get 3300fps with 90gr BlitzKings (H4350) and both get about 1/2" groups. Have hit beer cans, coyotes and prairie dogs out to 800yds. Looking to set up another 110 Savage with 26" barrel and a 1-8 twist to push the newer Berger Elite Hunter bullet (131gr if I remember right). Since I have to have a barrel made for that twist was thinking of going Akley Improved (to extend brass life, more than the more fps). Thanks for sharing your range time with us.

Hi Dave. A great video indeed. I have had a love affair with the 25-06 for nearly 40 yrs. I was wondering what barrel length your Browning has? My current 25-06 is a classic under achiever in both the accuracy and velocity dept.

25-06 very awesome cartridge that gets mostly left in the dark,,,,but if you have one you know what it is and can do,,,i have a montana 1999 26" pipe,,,i run ttsx 80gr they hit like a freight train, i run them on top of superformance and Hunter, 3800fps is a easy go,,and the groups i get at 100yrds are well they are sub half any day and on the right day they will go sub .250

We shall see, as this will be one of the rifles I'll take in Nov.. But in the past from 100-375 yards all where one shot kills and all but one had complete pass through, with only 2 out of 6 bucks went more than 20 yards.

Went through a bunch of different bullets for my Rem 700 in 25-06 Rem. For some reason, it doesn't like boat tailed bullets very much. So, I settled on the Hornady 117 gr SST and Hammer 104 gr Heavy Hammer Hunter. Good luck, and stay safe!!! 😉😉😉

I've read flat based bullets are more consistently accurate out to 200 - 400 yards then the boat tail design takes over (less drag). Do you play around with seating depth (jump)?
@nicholasbarcomb23242 ай бұрын
@@carfvallrightsreservedwith6649, yes, boat tailed bullets don't "wake up" until about 600 yds and beyond.
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho80092 ай бұрын
@@carfvallrightsreservedwith6649 My experience with flat based bullets is that they are more accurate and give somewhat higher velocity due to being able to allow more powder in a case. I generally use the bullet makers "Tested COAL."

I could be mistaken, but I think a couple we met at Sonny’s barbecue here in Georgia, they were from Alaska, I think they were the ones who first mentioned your channel to me. Tony and Sonja White. Does that name ring a bell possibly? They live off grid. They were visiting family here. I’m probably wrong, but I thought I needed to ask.

@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009Ай бұрын
I am a hunter, so testing in conditions I am likely to encounter in the field is what I prefer. Also another reason is very high velocity helps to mitigate wind dispersion at shorter ranges, ie; short time of flight to target. Thanks for watching.

❤ me some 25-06! I cleaned toilets and mowed grass at a state park my senior summer to buy my Rem 700 ADL. Got set up in reloading upon graduation. The gun taught me how to hunt, shoot and handload. So many firsts with it. The throat is worn pretty good so doesn't shoot light bullets very well anymore. Okay, because it still shoots 7828 and 120gr Partitions into an inch.😊 Can you show a closeup pic of your loading chart sometime (blank one)? It's been decades since I designed my own and have wondered how many photocopies I've made of it. Thinking of a new one on bigger paper to include info on dies used ie. which FL, neck (if any), seater, etc. I have multiple die sets for several rounds and mix them sometimes. Love the football analogy. Will Boise State have a good team this year? Fido's house is well ventilated. Should be cooler on warm days! Thanks, Dave!

@@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 Eldx tends to be a bomb at close range, I have used it, works better further away. Not a good hunting bullet in my experience, often they go down, then get up and limp off. That may not matter where you hunt, they still eventually go back down.
