Is it possible to have tight muscles while you have prolapse? What should I do in that case, relaxation exercises or muscle strengthening exercises? Relaxation exercises relieve my pain but I don't know how good they are for prolapse. What to do?

Yes, it is possible and even common to have tight muscles when you have prolapse. Relaxation is good to do and can help to rebalance things when working to become asymptomatic. The thing to pay attention to is pressure. Skip poses that make you feel excess pressure or symptoms while you are practicing. With shy bladder syndrome, it is typically really difficult for a person to urinate, especially if anyone is in earshot. It tends to be more an issue with inability to urinate rather tha frequent urination. Have you been diagnosed with shy bladder?

Yes, this is a pelvic floor relaxation sequence. Vaginismus is a condition where the pelvic floor is contracting strongly so the relaxation poses should be very helpful 😊

Good question Sonia! With frequent urgent urination, there is a technique for getting the bladder to relax by tapping into one of your reflexes that will relax the bladder. Try this: When you feel urgency, STOP whatever you are doing, sit down if you can and contract the front part of your pelvic floor (to reach the external urethral sphincter). That contraction will trigger the guarding reflex which in turn triggers a relaxation. It’s important with this technique that you try to relax everything else. You should find this technique reduces the urgency sensation This technique is typically used in conjunction with bladder training. If you are doing the 30-Day challenge, focus on the relaxation portion for now. If the technique I listed above helps in reducing your urgency and getting your frequency under control, you can then assess your pelvic floor to see if strength training is needed. Otherwise, just do relaxation for now 👍🏻
