Part of being an NBA fan in the 2000's was becoming intimately familiar with whatever program TNT was advertising the hell out of during both the regular season and postseason. Being an NBA fan meant knowing what shows like Animal Kingdom and The Closer and Leverage and The Last Ship and so on were, and so to celebrate that weird, charming intersection of the NBA and TNT, I decided to compile some in-game promos for TNT shows/movies from games they were broadcasting from each of the last 25 years - with one promo per year. It was not easy to put together and took a lot of digging, and it still didn't touch on every TNT show that was advertised during these years (I couldn't find ones for either Claws or Rizzoli & Isles), but if you're a biiiiiig basketball or TV nerd, I think you'll still appreciate this, maybe :)
Nearly every single promo here is for original TNT programming. However, there are exceptions because TNT didn't always produce original shows, hence why the 2000 promo was for the 1993 movie "The Crush." Also, if you watch this you'll see that TNT didn't always rely on announcers doing promo reads to advertise these shows/movies; there was a good streak where they instead played a little mini-ad before getting back to the action. But the promo reads eventually became a recognizable facet of NBA games on TNT, and Kevin Harlan - who features prominently in this video - was pretty universally regarded as the best promo reader of them all.
Also, this video is not monetized; obviously, all of this footage belongs to TNT. It has been uploaded purely for educational and historical purposes.
