So much to teach about teamwork this week. There you are, 5 guys, barely acquainted, various native tongues, different heights, different strengths - and yet you achieve so much so fast! The key has to be communication and clarity - clear objectives, clear roles, clear expectations. I know a few managers in business who need to watch this.😂

AGREED! This is how traditional communities always work(ed) around the world, now and in the past when village life was more straightforward and simple. I am thinking of the community barn-raisings the Amish used to do ...and still do for instance. That kind of cooperation was the very fabric of memory that built the bonds of brotherhood and true community ...worth passing on to the next generation. Martijn works very well with youth, without being bossy or patronizing. He seems to have the knack of gentle but persuasive encouragement ...and then says "Well done". Most young men want to hear that from their fathers. If they don't get that encouragement from their fathers ( or they may) ...anyway they're getting that boost in the "Can-Do" Spirit from Martijn, and it is very satisfying to see a task accomplished with a sense of stick-to-it-iveness a, and again a spirit of brotherly cooperation!

Briefly I wondered about my own accomplishments and then I remembered - 5 brilliantly successful pregnancies, home birth, midwives. I got reminded that I have accomplished things, also. Some things that were daunting and that some thought were difficult or outright dangerous, I accomplished those things. That sense of pride is wonderful. The timing for this was perfect because I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself. Because of some health issues, I have been kept from doing some things I want to do but now I'm sitting here, all happy, because I'm remembering great events. I had no idea I would enjoy your video so much today! Thank you!

So remarkable you and friends were able to remove the entire roof in one day. You have the best friends and followers to lend a hand and share a meal. You have mastered campfire Dutch oven bread making down pat. Looks delicious. Thanks for the aerials. Waiting for each episode.

Hi Martjin! Great progress. If I were there, I would suggest that ramp be at least 8-10 planks wider for mobility and safety. Really enjoy your videos.

I agree. I don't see sufficient room on the platform for the operator to maneuver the crane over the roof.

I can't believe that 5ne wood roof trusses(?) we're strong enough to carry the weight of those slabs. Love the drone shots. What a great perspective.

@Judy Eulier not sure if it was done in the ancient way or not, but here is a way of ensuring your timbers are very strong: cut the timber when the moon is at the full. Sounds crazy, hey. But the sap is drawn to its highest point in the plant at this time. Centuries old structures, fences and so on in Europe are still standing because of this age old observance of when to cut the timber to ensure lasting strength. Similar story for ancient stone bridges, such as seen in Croatia and Serbia for example.

Like a thousand others, I want to go to Italy and eat bread and drink beer with you. But, my days for lifting giant stones has long passed. I love watching this great adventure of yours and I have not missed a single week. The music this week was brilliant. As many others have said before, in this missed up troubled world we are living in, watching these videos are like a breath of fresh air.

Your finale with the bread, the scenery, the small element of spreading topping on the bread then sitting back putting up your legs to bring an end to another day, another episode, and the enjoyment of another loaf of bread seems so fitting. It gave me a warm feeling of accomplishment for your efforts. Thank you.

Like I said before Martijn, lots of helpers eager to participate and no doubt hoping some of your enthusiasm and magic will rub off on them even if it means risking the odd finger. The way you capture the essence of the project and portray it in such a high quality video package is truly astonishing and it’s unsurprising that you have a large international audience following every move. Thanks for your efforts. 😎

I am amazed at how many stones you were able to move with man power, even some of the bigger ones. I suspect it was contructed with man power alone and no mechanical advantage. Great team work

I was waiting for the episode where you'd use the crane to do the roof since I watched you design and make it. I couldn't understand how it would work (I'm not at all technically minded) Then I saw the episode where you moved the stone for the out door table and wondered how you would get the crane as high as the roof. Happy to find that you had plenty of help instead. I hope their backs wern't too sore the following day. We didn't see them again!

Dear Martijn, Watching every minute of every episode, here in Firenze. Thanks for talking about the current drought in Italy and its disastrous impact on the Po River. Maybe it will never rain like it used to, who knows, but watching the way you live out of doors I am wondering if it all will work in those old fashioned rainy and snowy seasons when we wondered if the precipitation would ever stop? Also, one of the things that stops people from achieving more DIY is the mistakes and anomalies that are so different from the curated examples on KZbin. Can you show us a bit more of your mistakes and how you overcome them - or does everything you do just fit together perfectly due to good planning? Keep the videos coming. This is among the best TV I know of, and the competition is fierce.

I have the feeling that Martijn talks a lot with his brothers and father, before he starts taking steps. They seem very knowledgeable in the building/engineering area and he adds to it with his casual flair but seems these gents are well acquainted with building anything and everything. It would be fun to have a BLOOPERS' video, tho'!
