I think the value for money has to be 5 out of 5 because a vanilla slice in Canberra even at a local shop in a suburb is like seven dollars. That shop has really good prices, but it must be a country thing.

I LOVE Vietnamese bakeries. My favourite in Katoomba is Buttery on the same street as that one. They make lovely rolls, however they are a bit soft, I prefer crispy. I cannot fault their pastries, the quiche is amazing. I have found cakes are a hit and miss in Vietnamese bakeries. Usually I stick to lamingtons and apple turn overs. However, Buttery cakes are next level like European cakes. They do a top notch vanilla slice. I will however vist Katoomba hot bread for the crispy roll but will forgo the vanilla slice.

I have been going to them for decades and in the beginning they were great. Then about 10 years ago they went downhill and then they got raided by the Feds for dealing. Apart from that they changed their recipe and it never tasted the same. Not sure if they still do the awful coffee from a machine that is never cleaned. I dont go in there any more its a total waste of money.

Google reviews are hard to trust these days. Some people give bad reviews for the dumbest reasons. Like maybe they just woke up on the wrong side of bed that morning. I don't know. Anyways that food looked great, glad you enjoyed it

Two review suggestions... 1. Chicken Pad thai between 12 and 3pm mon to fri in Lithgow busy corner and 2. Ocean foods grilled fish in Drummoyne (expensive but healthy and nice).
