This is another nice SMX engine that we just finished up for Tony Braglio. We are using the new F4X-140 ProCharger and putting down over 3,300HP on Methanol at just under 50 pounds of boost.

FYI - If you are worried about the last rpm reading on the dyno graph, it is likely a software issue on the dyno, specifically the graphing program. If it is what I think it is, they are doing a digital sampling of the HP between two RPM values (like for example between 2550 rpm and 2600, the sampling rate being between 50 rpm). They use that to build a rectangular bar with the HP being the top, and this is in a series of rectangular bars to build a graph (digital sampling). The graph line is then "best fit" to the tops of the digital sampling rectangles. The problem happens when you don't have a last value of RPM to compare to the previous rpm - so the last rpm values are dumped from the graph. This is most likely the reason your highest rpm value doesn't show on the graph - you still have all the data from the run including the top HP, it's just that the graphing program wasn't up to the job.

This is only a guess, but SM uses hoops and copper head gaskets. Those hoops get really close to the cylinder wall on a 4.6” bore, leaving a paper thin ring of iron between the hoop and cylinder. A 4.5” bore gets the edge of the cylinder .050” further away from the inside edge of the hoop, leaving more iron to support and protect the hoop. Edit: The hoops are installed in heads not block but same situation with support material

I'm putting together a 1990 two door Caprice to go big wheel racing, my local chassis shop tabbed me up a ladder bar setup with a quick performance 9" rear end with a strange aluminum third member with a 3.90 gear at the moment mini tubbed my car sits pretty low to be on 26's i have it squatin just a little in the rear nothing crazy but besides some kirky front seats and 10 point cage it still has carpet and a back seat and it's way lighter than a lot of the guys I know who are going pretty damn fast on 26's and 5000 pounds I think I should come in less than 4200. It's on 26x9 fronts and 26x12 with the softest 26/35/305 I could find out back I'm gonna try to run it like a radial car I have qa1 mod shocks with about 4 or 5 inches of extension I'm basically running stock front suspension parts that are lightend up with strange double adjustable shocks I still haven't figured out what spring rate I'm gonna start out with. If I wasn't so poor my little turbo small tire 00 Z28 and the Caprice would have a smx in them except with a huge single Harts 140mm turbo. I'm gonna start out with the a aluminum 5.3 I put together for this car nothing special and pretty budget friendly the machine work is top notch the compression ratio is 11 to 1 it's got a stock crank with the reluctar welded on and summit ls pro rods and pistons they are actually nice pieces the pistons where all b where all within a gram of each other if I'm remembering right the rods where the same way my best friend works at the machine shop and it didn't really need all the extra work he put in it and didn't charge me for it I reckon their shop upgraded a few machine's but this motor is probably the smoothest running one I've ever owned, I picked up some slightly used Speedmaster cathedral port 210cc heads that have been cnc ported by PRC and some swapped the valves with some decent Manley valves, BTR 660 springs and BTR 120 dollar push rods Morel lifters that are supposed to be better than ls7 lifters they don't cost much more than real ls7 lifters a trunion kit and off the shelf btr turbo cam that will be rowdy in a 5.3. I'm running a summit brand 102mms sheet metal intake and throttle body with Bosch 210s I'm gonna run it on Ignite E90 that what I used to run in my camaro for a couple years until I swapped it over to methanol, I've got a used ATI balancer from another friend I would have ran the stock one but over the past year and half I've feel in love with running methanol and mechanical fuel pump setups. The motor hasn't seen boost yet the turbo kit is about 80% finished but it was stout for a 5.3 just playing on my street at the moment it's got a terminator, I run a NO ecu my camaro but the terminator will probably be fine I don't need any more input or out puts for this one. I've got the Vs racing s488 with the big boy turbine and a 1.32 t6 housing it should make the power I want it to for now I'm gonna run my.back up th400 and have Dusty Bradford spec me out a pic converter I only run his stuff . I've tried running a few hard tire races but with 285/60/15s but never 26's with less than four inches of side wall it's all gonna be new to me but if you like grudge racing as much as I do and live in the South I live in North Alabama and I'm in the perfect area of where most all big money big wheel grudge racers race at in North middle and south Ga and North Carolina, Tennessee. It would be awesome to hear Steve Morris's thoughts on big wheel racing and what it takes to go fast on a rubber band no forms of traction control heads up 1/4 mile 1200+hp bricks that are trapping damn near 160mph because everyone who is running big wheel stuff are not sharing anything lol it's more.crazy than the 1/8 mile grudge racing I'm used to plus I've only made 4 full 1/4 pass's in my other car it's a n/t car but I will say it went 8's on my weakest tune I just don't really care for that extra 660 feet it's like I can hear parts yelling please stop I don't like this LoL

Peak HP is 3324 !!??? I think it is Watts or something. Never seen an engine this size that produces this many HPs.

you can't possibly get a transmisjon to survive that amount of torque... HP numbers in modern times are getting into unnatural numbers.

That’s not a supercharger, it’s a jet turbine😳. Keep the pets away from it or they’ll get sucked in. The numbers these days are just insane. Glad there’s a guy like Steve explaining these things with so much details without being afraid of letting too many secrets out.
