Did my shoulders today and they're burning up! Thanks for the tip for working those side delts by raising the elbows. My front delts are already bigger than my rear delta because I do at least 100 push ups in each of my workouts, five days a week. So its the sides and especially the rears that I've been concentrating on of late. Love the Hammer Strength side deltoid machine and I also prefer the cables for hitting the rear delts. Thanks for the tips because I have to get to doing the rear delts with dumbbells.

Thanks for videos like this. Even for more seasoned lifters, it's good to get reminders sometimes about how to properly execute movements. For example, the part regarding a narrower grip on the overhead press is quite useful for someone like me whose hands tend to drift wide on the bar over time.

I suggest turning your thumbs toward the ceiling on the lateral raises. Still hits the middle deltoid but minimizes chance of injury longer turm with the rotator cuff

I'd like to see a video, is possible, about recovering from joint-related injuries. I've got a tennis-elbow on both sides, which kinda hurts like hell when doing any upperbody exercises. Some suggested I should rest, but that's not exactly one of my talent. Anyhow, still enjoying your videos guys. Greetings from the Netherlands!
@johnwesseling44469 жыл бұрын
Great videos with some very good tips for avoiding injury. Do you have any advice for unequal muscle gain on either the left or right side of the body? My left rotator cuff seems to respond to stimulus from any exercise -bench press, shoulder press, barbell row, deadlift. It seems to incorporate itself into every one of my upper body exercises so that the bar comes up crooked - higher on the left than the right side. I have tried dropping the amount of weight in these exercises so that I can concentrate on form but it feels like all I'm doing is using my left rotator cuff muscle to bring the bar up straight rather than allowing it to help me equalise using muscles on both sides. I have also tried using dumbells rather than a barbell to equalise strength gains on both sides but the left just seems to cope much better that the right - right side fatigues faster than the left. Any advice?

Great advise...thanks Buff. In addition to the Rear-Delt flies, try using a lighter weight and HOLD for a few seconds when in the lifted position! If you can't hold, then use a lighter weight until you get stronger before managing heavier weights!
@TheViolander10 жыл бұрын
Nice video. My 2 cents - face pulls > reverse flies. Always found proper face pulls to work posterior delts a bit better and always a nice exercise after a bench day.

While pointing the thumbs towards the ground or slanted downwards can place more tension on the lateral head of the deltoid, it is very dangerous and will in time lead to impingement of the shoulders. On the contrary, a lateral raise should be performed with the thumb pointing slightly upwards. This shifts tension back on to the anterior deltoids. To counter this, lean forward and raise the weight backwards slightly instead of straight to the side. This will shift the tension back on to the lateral deltoid and recruit it very heavily while keeping the shoulder in a safe position. Besides that I really like the video and all of the content you guys put out.
@PermanentHigh9 жыл бұрын
You make me want to vomit with your corrective broscience. You're supposed to do lateral raises with really light weights. If you're getting injured from that then you probably shouldn't lift at all.

Arnold curls, Upright rows, Military press. Lateral raises are good for toning and sculpting, but if you want mass fast stick to compound movements like the ones I just mentioned. Also, I find that if you want to hit the lateral heads more while doing upright rows; lean back, almost like you're sitting on an incline bench.

Great vid great advice! Could you guys maybe cover back and shoulders but using springs i.e. this kind of spring []--------------[] that you hold in front of you and stretch it till your arms are to the side and the spring is touching your chest. I hope the description is clear. Is it a worthy tool for a buff dude?:) is it a waste of time? i have to use really small weights for the shoulder since i always hated working while bent over, so my shoulders are a little underdevelopped( side and back of shoulder)so i'm looking for something to facilitate with that.Cheers!
