When I was a kid in Florida, we had a Brazilian pepper tree in our yard. It's an invasive species that attracts a lot of flies, bees. wasps, and other insects when it flowers. I used to catch some of the wasps in a jar and put them in the fridge so I could look at them really closely after a few minutes, then I'd let them go. This reminded me of that. You've got a cool system of relocation.

Cool video! It’s neat to see how the different species build there nests and how different wasps are within their species. A month ago I noticed a nest being built in my machine shed and I have let it grow just to see how big they would build it and as of today it is the size of a basketball with a large funnel stuck to the bottom. I have even sat and watched them build on the nest (from a safe distance because I am allergic to bee and wasp stings) and it is impressive how fast they can add on to the outside of the nest. It is also impressive how precisely round and they are able to build and just how many yellow jackets are in the colony now. I think they are German yellow jackets, but I am not a 100 percent sure. Thank you for sharing all the information on wasps. I have learned so much about wasps and how to actually appreciate their existence and that they are an important part of the ecosystem.

I throughly enjoyed watching that squirrel bouncing around as you talked "squirrel " to him/her. Your tone and gentle hands have melted that squirrels defenses. I imagine some yummy wasp larve is a staple in lil squirrels diet. I'm grateful i don't have wasps this year, previous years, they've built nests in my shed & garage. This year i created habitat for bumblebees and i also noticed a big carpenter bee chewed a new home in an old 2"×8"×6' wooden plank we had proped against our house. I left it alone so the bees can do their thing. Great content

@@robertsears8323 I sure hope this was a joke comment because if not you really need to educate yourself. Wasps and hornets still pollinate flowers like any other insect in the bee/wasp/hornet family (idk what its called specifically) however they just don’t do it as efficiently as a bee does. Ive seen MANY wasps on flowers, which means they are collecting that pollen and distributing just the same. All creatures serve a purpose on mother earth, so don’t call them evil monsters. And this guy is just making sure these beautiful creatures don’t die out and put this world to doom.

I have a white faced hornets nest on the side of my house about six feet away from a window that is always open this time of years so that the cats can go in and out as they please. Only two of them have actually come into the house as far as i know. One of them died on a kitchen counter, and am not sure why. The other one i thought was dead floating in a bowl filled with water in the sink. I scooped it out with a spoon and noticed it was still alive. I could have just washed it down the sink, but decided to just toss it out the window where it could possibly recover and rejoin the hive. If it has any intelligence it will know that coming in the house is not the safest place to go. That nest has been there for a few weeks, but i just noticed it a couple days ago. I am out there frequently doing yard work and hanging out with the cats. I have never even seen any of the hornets fly anywhere near me. So far, i have been leaving them alone and they have been leaving me and the cats alone. They have been doing their thing which is probably hunting other bugs in my yard and working on their hive. At this point, i am not really sure what i will do about it.

I've always loved the bald-faced hornets for some reason. There's just something about them that makes them unique, such as how they dive bomb and headbutt the target before going back to the nest. They're probably one of the hornets/wasps that's not as sensitive to someone's presence.
