That would be extremely unwise decision for her legacy and her future in women’s basketball. Reason being is that she’ll get demolished playing against mediocre men. It’ll be sad to watch. Something else worth noting is the basketball itself is physically much smaller than the men’s ball. Have you ever shot a women’s ball compared to a standard NBA size ball?

The rookie scale for the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft starts at $76,535 in the first season, according to Spotrac. That goes up to $78,066 in year two, $85,873 in year three, and $97,582 in the fourth-year option. Caitlin Clark will have to make money from endorsements.
@marcusward23

Diana did not say her game would not translate, she said their would be an adjustment period. Diana is competitor people who have knowledge about the WNBA know this. If you are going too speak on what somebody said do not take bits and pieces too fit your narrative. Plus under the cba of the WNBA teams cannot pay individual players large amounts of money, she's a rookie so it's based off where she was drafted. Caitlin Clark will probably receive more when they negotiate the new cba.

@MrJ1S the reason their legacy isn't as good or them not making more money is simply because of the fact that people aren't interested in watching it. People like high stakes and insane physical performance. When a boys' high school varsity team could smoke any team in the WNBA, it's not impressive, nor is it interesting. Shooting with a different sized ball would take time to adjust to for someone who has been playing for years. A smaller ball might be an advantage for someone with small hands, but I doubt it for men.
@christovelasquez9595
@christovelasquez9595 4 ай бұрын
@@Ace-bi1lu Fact, the size 6 ball is not only smaller but it is also lighter which makes it easier to shoot for anyone and if men can shoot the larger heavier ball with accuracy they can easily adjust to a smaller lighter ball in one off season and pre season. But you said it best, it is a legit advantage for the women to get to use the smaller, ligher ball not because of their hand size but because it is easier to shoot into a regulation size rim. Very rapidly the NBA would go from 3 pointers to half court shots.

It was a very entertaining game down to the last few minutes when it was obvious Iowa would lose. It was a much better game than most of the men's games I watched. This situation in a way is like all the crap that Tom Brady went through for over 20 years. The players around the league liked him except for a few teams but the fans around the league hated his guts.

As a media group I’m surprised yall didn’t watch the full clip of what Diana Turasi said. She was ASKED what she thought about this draft class and their transition to the pros. It wasn’t like she singled out Caitlin, that’s just easy to bait because she’s the most known in her draft class. All Diana said was it’s going to be harder because now you got grown women, stronger, faster, higher IQ to play with. It’s like a jump at any level. Middle to high school, high school to college and etc. And Caitlin Clark is likely not going to make a difference for people’s salaries. There’s hype coming in, they’ll make extra money but not life changing money, eventually the hype will die down and she’ll just be another productive player.

She did just fine against UCONN and the reality is that she was on an Iowa team that has 0 WNBA talent and nobody who can take the ball and create for themselves. I get the point but she is going into a situation that can actually take advantage of all of skillset given the talent of those around her.

Ok the views went up but only the best teams played look at the other games. For me all the games leading up to the March madness was boring and low scoring. So for me she should take the five mill. Wbna might get a little more views but not enough to change everything.

do you think it would me WISER for Caitlin to go forward, sign with the WNBA - with the salary restrictions as is, no changes coming; or, take one of the other offers and be outside of actual Pro Sports, but make more money up front - would be less endorsements overall most likely; or, Caitlin becomes an actual NBA player. The draft is held, a team chooses her, she tries out - and makes the team as a bench player...but the minimum salary there is the wnba's max, and the opportunity for actual real change - or a crazy sports moment - a movie moment if you will....would be most likely in that option. There is no rule saying women can not play in the NBA.

It takes one. The ticket sales for Fever games skyrocketed after the draft. She’s already selling out the games. I’ve never watched but definitely will be watching her, Reese and a few others. The fact that you guys are talking about this tells you everything you need to know. Never been discussed to this magnitude.

These hosts as usual don’t provide any context. Diana T and several colleagues was asked questions via a call in show. Taurasi did not diss Clark. She gave a very professional answer that most knowledgeable sports know. As far as salary, Clark will make a ton of dough in endorsements. Stop it!

They don’t even have half the tv spots the NBA has so how will the viewership truly go up if the wnba board don’t invest and take chances to push the team owners to go after the tv slots? We want to watch just put them on damn tv when were home to watch!

Last year when Wembayama was coming to the league, and every ex and current player were talking about how the game will never be the same. How he is the best thing since Lebron. How he' worth a billion. The WNBA is shrugging their shoulders at Caitlin, questioning if she will be great. Ex players questioning her. Im not saying these 2 players are equivilant, but the WNBA sucks at promotion.

I give credit to women that they can be capable of some very impressive physical feats but I look at women's basketball and I see the most unathletic women athletes over every sport. It makes me wonder how they're training. Like what are they even doing?

Allow me to give Adam a history lesson. The NBA was on tape delay. Then there were two college phenoms that met and started the greatest rivalry in sports: Magic and Bird. Then soon after MJ came in the league and took the NBA global. The NBA is what it is from something that started in a "flash in the pan" NCAA tournament. The WNBA might be able to say the same. Who knows? Once upon a time, the NBA was a laughing stock league and everyone watched boxing and baseball instead. Things can change.

Not even remotely the same. The difference is those guys you mentioned are the best the sport has to offer. The WNBA will never take off because as a product its terrible, the most entertaining aspects of basketball don't exist in womens basketball because the lack they athleticism to them. Also even tho nba was on tape delay it was still a multi million dollar league at the time. The WNBA literally hasn't made a single dollar in profit since it started.

Caitlin is Amazing...BUT...18M didn't JUST tune in to see her. The storyline of Her vs LSU and the storyline of Her vs USC . Her, by herself isn't sustainable and won't move the needle. What were ratings when she WASNT playing USC, LSU or on the cusp of breaking a scoring record? If they don't play up rivalries with her and her nemesis Angel Reese, nobody is gonna care after a couple games. WNBA Should invest in the most brilliant marketing minds on how to leverage this wave of interest...Caitlin, Angel Reese, JuJu and Beckerrs....they need ALL not just 1.

Clark singlehandedly made $80+mill for the economy of Iowa. The WNBA made 60 for their television contract. They are already trying to raise that to 80 bc of her alone. Also the team she's going to is going from 5 to 35 broadcast games next year and moving to a bigger arena... They couldn't even fill the small one this past year. She isn't playing for the salary it's the dream she's had since 2nd grade. Endorsements will be her salary.

agreed - but Caitlin is already showing she's going to try to fit into the WNBA - and that... ladies and gents will be her downfall. She's a great ladies player, decent girl from a good family and a solid upbringing. The girls worked hard... no questions. But the reality here is "eyeballs". The new eyeballs that were tuning into the womens college game - were not young girls, or some other demographic other than - Straight White Men. That is the single largest demographic that can move the marketing needle and that's who Caitlin drew in - for whatever reason... maybe it's that she's a nice looking white girl that's not trying to look like a dude NBA player... whatever the reason was - she drew that demographic in. And unfortunately, once she gets to the WNBA - if they crap on her... and she decides like she did on SNL to kinda show some signs she's going to be a kneeler... her popularity will sink quick. She'll be an ESPN woke darling... I really hope that doesn't happen to her... Wish she would have taken Barstools offer - I think the $5m she could have gotten there - better served and her popularity would have driven through the roof to the right crowd.
