My favorite combo is a 1-2 , go under the hook, switch stance, lead hook(if close) or Bas Rutten bone strike (if a little farther). Keys: slip as you throw the straight punches and then when you go to throw that hook/ bone strike use the momentum/ hip twist from the stance switch to have more power. You can also follow up with a cross or pivot on the hook and land a nice roundhouse.

Shane when you're in the Muay Thai clinch by the way this is a personal preference question. Do you prefer to pull the neck down and go into the sprawl position, or would you rather shoot for a leg grab and end up in the full guard.

That 1st mma combo is great, although i prefer to leave it in the guillotine until my opponent taps out.

@maxcooper57737 жыл бұрын
Hey Shane I got a question. Which kind of stance would you use in a street fight if you were to fight with closed hands like fists. I know that you recommend open hand palm strikes but I have been training to punch correctly for a while now and I don't know a good streetfighting stance. I have seen other KZbin videos but I want my boy Shane's stance. And you don't even need to make a video about it you can just write it down.
@Azami00017 жыл бұрын
This is probably a stupid question but can MMA be used for self defence? Or is it mostly used just for sport?I kinda want to do MMA mainly for self defence rather than learning it for a game.

Shane what is the best way to deal with someone who has really hard kicks?he's has some hard kicks but, not really good when he uses boxxing, but I myself am better using my upper body, I'm still trying to get better with my kick combos.
@danabennett71657 жыл бұрын
You've got to get inside. If you have great stand up, rifle off your 1-2 combo and get in for the clinch. If you are a wrestler/ grapple, make him give you that 100% angle for your penetration step. The key though (no matter what) is good footwork. What does anyone else think?
@jorgemelchor96447 жыл бұрын
Dana Bennett thanks for the tip dude. I love using the muay Thai clinch.
@grailknight67947 жыл бұрын
Jorge Melchor control distance. get out when you cant get close, otherwise try to close the distance as fast as possible, also check kicks if you cant avoid, the key is know distance the closer you are the less damage does the kick so try to close the kicking range and start throwing some in close punches or better elbows.

Shane, I've watched your vids since the very beginning in Philly, but you really need someone, ANYONE as a partner to demonstrate these techniques!!. Without "Ant" helping you anymore, the demos simply have lost far too much when we have to "imagine" an invisible opponent/attacker. - - - In all of California with it's 10,000 dojos & gyms, you can't find anyone you can pay a couple dollars to - to assist you for a few hours a week? This idea of "imaginary" opponents simply doesn't cut it & your tutorials have suffered as a consequence. If I was in ANY MMA class, if the teacher was demoing a move, they'd have either another instructor or student volunteer. This is like having the "Invisible Man" as your opponent. It's just not working....

I'm 6'2" (which isn't huge) but like the guy before me said, use your reach, find that distance and just keep jabbing them out. My coach always tells me to do this since im so long both in arms and legs, keep jabbing and/or using that teep. Then bring in the power punches when you think the time is right. Hope that helped.
