**** *RIPPLE HACK***** By putting 4.5 volts on the RIPPLE it turns the pedal into a non-oscillating BOOSTER with variable TONE control . The RIPPLE is an LDR (light dependent resistor, barrel type like the CLM-6000 ) DEVICE. The 4.5volts keeps the LED in the LDR from dimming in Tremolo cycles, which is in a effect calibrated above the db' of the dry, bypassed signal. The RIPPLE can handle 12v just fine. Less noise more headroom. Although 9v is fine. I use Radioshack 1,000ma selectable adapter with 1.5,3v,4.5v,6v,9v,12v settings (model 273-1680). I'd be curious to know what effect an adjusted adapter in a sweet spot between 4.5-6v would render. At 6v the Tremolo effect is present...barely, but enough. If we could speed up the RATE to twice as fast it might get close to that Dallas Arbiter Rangemaster sound. The tone is definitely there!

Genius. I have a few variable power supplies and a lot of cheap crappy pedals I seldom use. Any other types that do interesting things when voltage starved?

Bought a Donner Stylish Fuzz a couple years ago and still love it more than any Fuzzes on my helix. The sustain is awesome and it’s great on bass also.

FYI - Donner analog delays are digital. Both the wave and yellow fall. Sometimes people argue this because they're listed as analog but opening them up will show. Donner says they call them analog because they have analog signal dry thru

@MalcolmO4 жыл бұрын
Wow! All 3 sounded great! The effects themselves were super and their controls were both fine and comprehensive. We scarcely expect that at this price point -- or even higher sometimes! I liked the wah best. Not just an auto, it really is dynamic and varies with how you play. Means you can control the effect just by using your hands on the guitar. An advanced feature. Gotta love that!
@AndrewLewisHowe3 жыл бұрын
I love my Donner Dynamic Wah. Very clean and responsive and controllable. I got a Mooer Envelope at the same time and find the Donner is far superior. I got a Donner Ripple as well. I ended up preferring the Mooer Triangolo better. It has tap tempo and other weird features. No volume loss with it either.

Interesting as usual, Ryan...the Wave appears to be pretty much the same as the Rowin Echo. Same layout, behavior, and ultra-tiny size. Picked one of those up in the recent frenzy, but I do have to agree about the size being a bit problematic. I'm planning to use mine for no-input work, though, so it'll be much easier to access in the usual tabletop configuration for those sorts of rigs. One suggestion about replacing the box o' stompers, though...consider getting a couple of freestanding slatgrid panels and some hook-on shelves. Not only does it look decent and make everything easy to sort out, you can ALSO run cables through the slatgrid and create sort of a vertical pedalboard-from-hell! I got mine from Specialty Store Services up in the Chicago burbs, but you might have a more accessible source out in SoCal.

I use a lot of pedals for sound design and experimental dark electronica. I have the Donner Island Delay and the Vintaverb. They're packed with features like looper, stereo, hold, trails etc and really cheap But and it's a big but, they do clip if the signals a bit hot, and some of the better modes ie reverse delay are very thin, too much dry on the mix, for the price they'll do the job, I can't justly Styroman prices but you have to be mindful at all times which can get in the way of smooth work flow.

Yeah, those micro pedals have crossed the diminishing return limit to be useful to me. Mini pedals are great as they allow for a big muff size or two on a regular board. The micros are I guess useful to sit on an amp to run thru effects loop but not on a board.
@grayaj234 жыл бұрын
I have a Joyo pedal that size. Mooer also makes them. TBH I don't like the size that much (not that it really matters) because the knobs are really small. My Joyo is the "Rushing Train", an AC30 preamp. And you make the same face every time you find the self-oscillation point on a delay pedal.

All the pedals sounded pretty good and had useful features. Too bad about the clipping, though. I liked the Donner AutoWah best. Suggestion - With such small pedals, it would look a lot cleaner to connect them together with "Offset Guitar Pedal Crank Couplers" instead of cables. Hosa makes some. Thanks EDIT: I just found out that those connectors are BAD for connecting pedals. Please see this KZbin video by CSGuitars: "These DESTROY Pedals | Why Solid Couplers Are The Devil's Work" I hope you didn't purchase any. They can ruin a pedal!
