I lost over 80 pounds cutting way back on sugars and junk food, eating one plate of dinner instead of two, and began incorporating exercise into my lifestyle once I had lost 30 pounds.

@@IvanaChapman I've maintained that weight loss for 10 years. However, since turning 60 ten months ago, I found myself not only two inches shorter but 4 pounds heavier (most likely because I need less calories) and when you're only 4'10" the 4 pounds is noticeable. My muscles also got smaller and it became harder to lift my 8-pound hand weights. On a better note, I've been using protein powder daily for the past two months. After a month I've lost 3 pounds and I feel my muscles are firmer again and it's become easier to lift my weights. So basically my goal is to keep my weight down and my muscle mass up. Thanks!

@@kims1941 I am over 60 now and I too have gone from 5"1" to 4'11"! I can't quite accept it: feel if I tighten my core I can get Some lift back there again. But anyhow: I always turned my nose up at protein powder, but now it's seeming like a good way to get in more needed protein. I don't know much about it, but I'm sure sales people will happily explain. But, so it has helped you, you think? Might you possibly tell me what type of protein you prefer and anything else you might feel like or have time for? NO OBLIGATIONS! I'm inspired by your comment and maybe I'll look into that!

Walking 1-2hrs/day is a great habit that I've formed. It's a highly underrated exercise that can burn fat! Love the video.

I met a relative at another state recently and thought he was 60-70 years old based on how active he was. I found out later that he’s 97.. he used to play a lot of soccer back in the days.

I’ve started eating at home, eating mostly whole foods (lots of veggies and more protein, especially), limiting treats and simple carbs, drinking 96 ounces+ of water, eating between noon and 8pm, moving my body and tying to have a better sleep routine. I pretty much ate nothing but fast food and highly processed junk foods before, and most days walked between 500 and 1,000 steps. Now, I’m averaging 5,000 to 8,000 steps and walk on the treadmill and do dancing/cardio/walking videos 4 to 5 days per week. I’ve lost 14 pounds in the last 9 weeks, but the scale has stalled for the last two/three weeks) and it is so frustrating. I’m trying to stay focused on non-scale improvements (like being able to walk over 30 minutes when before, I could literally not walk one minute without being breathless and in excruciating pain; my resting heart rate has decreased by 11 beats per minute in the last 7 weeks; I’m sleeping better, etc.). But, I’m 47 years old, have been obese for 25 years and I’m over it. I weigh 302 pounds as of today and am diabetic. I want this extra weight to GO and I want my health, and my life, back. I’m determined, but dang it - I’m soooo wanting that scale to get below 300! It will be the first time in years. I just found your challenge and LOVE it! You’ve got yourself a new subscriber and I’m looking forward to watching all of your videos. I love your non-judgmental, healthy, kind approach. All my best to you!

@@nelled6240I’m sorry I missed your comment before, but wanted to say thank you for your kind encouragement. I’m still at it! Its been slow process, but I’m hoping tomorrow the scale will show a 70 pound weight loss from my highest recorded weight. I’m at my lowest weight since my early 30s, but still have a long way to go. I’m determined to get there, though! In the meantime, I’m enjoying all of the positive changes that have happened - including no longer being diabetic even without medication (one of my proudest accomplishments). I hope you’re well and wish you the best! Thanks again!

Great video, Ivana! Long time no see. KZbin served me this. I love your ideas. I am definitely going to walk more often. I see that you are using video creators’ suggestions … your end screens transition was perfect! I remember a fact about weight loss that you might one day want to use: cutting back 100 calories a day ends up being a 10 lb weight loss per year. Keep it up with the videos. Glad to see you again. Question! Once you figure out your cal deficite and how much protein you should be eating - how closely should you be following fat, carb, fiber intake? Is there a number or goal we should be aiming for?
@IvanaChapman
@IvanaChapman Жыл бұрын
Hello again! 😊 Once I set a calorie and protein goal for a client, I let them choose which they prefer to have more of: carbs or fat. Or a balanced mix of each. It doesn't really matter which you choose, as long as the calories and protein are equal. Some people find they start to get more cravings (which makes it harder to stay in a deficit!) if they increase their carbs too high, but that's not the case for everyone. As for fibre, I think it's important to maintain that at about 25g for most women, for the sake of your health and long term sustainability of the diet. High fibre foods tend to be more filling and and are often more nutritious, so a balanced diet will usually include a decent amount of them. Hope that helps!

i’m 17 and i’ve tried everything to lose weight. I developed an eating disorder but now i want to lose weight in a healthy way. Is it healthy to eat 1600 calories as a person who is 166 cm and weights 59kg? My goal weight is 50 kg.

what you lost in fat was probably replaced by muscle (which is smaller in mass, hence why your clothes fit looser). it's a good thing!
