As a native who grew up on a Rez inside a white tourist trap I think I might have some experience to have a say. A lot of our ceremonies happen around full moons and we have ceremonies in our ancient burial grounds to honor the spirits today. My favorite scary stories are Camping scary stories.. I just love the eerie vibes of forests at night.. They let my imagination go wild.. Even if nothing bad happened just imagine the ambience of the dark forest around your lonely tent.. Owls, crickets, frogs a wild animal screeching from a far....and so on... 😍😅

That last one is really sus... Guy sees a clearly unnatural creature that accurately mimics his dog's bark, mocking him before running off. 'Whelp, nothing wrong with that. Man, this forest is beautiful!' and then 'after I looked into it, I believe it was the devil' I mean, the most basic google search of similar qualities would come up with a wendigo or a skinwalker, where the hell (heh) did he get 'the devil' from? Unless his only point of reference was the bible or something.

When I was a Girl Scout, in my last years before quitting around sixth grade, my troop went on a snow trip. I myself hadn’t gone, as I had to rehearse for the upcoming spring ballet recital, and I also had a gymnastics meet that weekend. But when the girls came back Saturday morning from the overnight snow trip, the parents met the girls at the trail head, packed the girls into the cars (supposedly), and took off. One girl emerged from a toilet to find everyone had left. There were no pay phones around (pre cell phone era). The girl’s parents, who hadn’t gone nor driven, didn’t notice that she was missing until later that day. They called around, but there was no list of which girls had gone on the trip, which girls went in which drivers’ cars, and there wasn’t even a list of drivers. The girl made her way through the snow to a remote cabin (still no phone), and got in through the unlocked front door. She made a fire in the fireplace, and survived off of melted snow and leftover food. She went back to the trailhead Sunday morning, where the agonized adults had found her. The leader of our troop resigned after that.

I had a run in camping with a owl that when land in camp feet on ground it's head was 6 inches above mine. I'm 5'4". It had at keast a 10 foot wing span. It came into camp little after sun set after a racoon that was raiding the trash. What got me the most is I made eye contact with it and it had no fear of me nor did it show any aggressive actions towards me. The gold eyes felt like it look into my soul. I felt like I was looking at a god. In a way it was. When it took off it blew the fire and wood all over the camp and make a screech that made me deaf for hours. God have mercy if it ever choose to come down on a human . No way you survive the 12 inch talons or the 2 foot beak. It would be a sure quick death and it carry a man off with no problems. I don't get the last story, he falls asleep after seeing a non human creature? He doesn't leave? Why doesn't his dog react to the non human being? He shoots at it once, but after that doesn't stay at his campsite, where its relatively safe, but runs into the forest to hide? Then he never uses his gun again? Why didn't he empty his gun at it? So much of his story makes no sense, except that a lot of people are complete morons under stress. I can't understand his dog not reacting to it though..it sounds like he was hallucinating or made it up. Especially since he decided he saw the actual, literal devil. Some religious guy tripping in the woods would probably think that he saw the devil. It's too weird

It's funny but this is the same story's the kids said they pulled living up in big bear teens at the high school partying in the woods behind the high school thank God they had no trouble cause my kid was the worest and the teachers kids stay up late on Friday nites throwing pine cones at cop cars up in the trees my son says they had the time of there lives and cops aren't like normal cops they mess with the kids I don't blame them lol back in the day my son in his 40s now lol but his story's sure made us all laugh living in the woods
