Using fresh raw onion will protect avocado from browning - when we have some opened avocado to store, we put it in a sealed container with a few onion slices - and it really slows down the browning effect. (It never lasts long enough to brown in our house). It would work really well in the avocado dressing - but consider who is eating it. Some people can't handle to raw onion, even if it is blended into the source.)

Love you channel Derrick, found it about 2 weeks ago. I’m not a vegan (yet) but I did help start a vegan cafe because I love veggies and the cuisine. Thanks for all the awesome content you put out. You may already know this but I noticed you didn’t point this out for your hummus sauce, and maybe the vita mix is such a beast it doesn’t matter, but hummus is one of my favorite snacks so I wanted to share this tip. Shell your garbanzos/chick peas before you drop them in the blender. I’ve made a lot of hummus and never knew why I couldn’t reach that creamy store bought consistency. Dump your can or soaked beans in a big bowl covering them with water, and massage then with your hands. This pulls off the clearish husk that’s on the beans. Get 60-70% off and it will dramatically help the consistency of the final product. Again maybe not necessary with a vita mix but could help some. Keep up the great work and inspiration!

This is a great recipe that you don't have to cook, basically needing cashews and Nutritional yeast. I love that. But, for me and others who may like to eat very low fat, well, I can't be to liberal with it, and we like our sauces, it takes an ordinary bunch of veggies and potatoes to another level. So I experimented with it and tried using some leftover potatoes I had in fridge. I doubled the recipe and subbed potatoes for the cashews, half of it. Came out delicious. Couldn't tell there were potatoes in it. This week I had no LO potatoes, but I had oatmeal, so I subbed 1/2 of the cashews with 1/2 oatmeal. Delicious, can't tell there are oats in it. I add quite a bit more lemon juice, I like it tangier. This sauce is a hit. 5 stars

@@jemimahkendall6579 we eat a varied source of food, humans around the world are over all the most diverse species' on the planet, some people in other regions can tolerate other foods than others, like meat, dairy, vegetables whatever. However, the foods that are junk are processed saturated in fat, sugar, caffeine all of which are stimulants for the brain and they are found in pretty much all foods unless you grow or raise your own in your back yard. These processed, junk foods were designed to be addictive. So my point is that this just makes raw healthy food seem disgusting. Those raised in tribes or natural environments as apposed to Western ideals of food may be used to fresh veg and none processed meat etc. Hopefully my point is a valid response

@@jemimahkendall6579 They're talking about junk food, not meat. Also, I used to be really picky about meat as a kid (and I'm Mennonite so I was surrounded by meat haha) and not picky about most vegetables and fruits. I'm not vegan or anything, but using "kid pickiness" as a metric to judge the health of a food is pretty silly. Plenty of things kids are picky about (especially since they're more sensitive to bitterness) are incredibly delicious to most/many adults. Eg. wine, beer, asparagus, olives, weird meats, seafood, liver and onions, etc. I used to hate broccoli and now lightly sauteed broccoli in pasta is one of my favourite things.

Jemimah Kendall my kids started out eating meat, and meat was the thing they were always picky about. Veggies on the other hand they always ate without a problem. And now at 5, 4, and 1 they still eat any veggie you put in front of them. My kids will even eat celery, which I don’t get 😂 It really has to do with what your taste buds are used to. Many families just don’t do a lot of veggies, and so their kids aren’t getting them regularly. Very quickly parents are feeding their children processed snacks instead as well. My husband grew up in a house that always had vegetables and he grew up liking them all. I on the other hand grew up rarely eating them, and I had huge texture issues and I did not like any cooked vegetables except corn. Fast forward going vegan and my taste buds have changed entirely, texture aversions almost completely gone, and now I’ll eat a whole plate of cooked broccoli for a snack just because! 🙂

@@LCHFKitchenSpaz 3 T liquid from chickpea can* (aquafaba) = 1 egg. 2 T = 1 eggwhite. For use in baking, whip 2 or 3 T with 1/2 t cream of tartar to stiff peaks, then fold into your batter. Or use in meatless meatballs or vegan mayo. I learned this from America's Test Kitchen's Vegan for Everybody cookbook, which uses it in 7 recipes. *Also I recently saw a video here in KZbin of someone cooking chickpeas from dry and using that liquid.

@@LCHFKitchenSpaz it is a great substitute for egg whites and a thickener. In the video he could have use some instead of water and the sauce would have thickened up, especially after putting it on the fridge. You can make a lot of stuff with it: meringue, marshmallow fluff, whipped cream, macarons, mayo, butter, pancakes, baked goods and a lot of other stuff! Just google vegan aquafaba recipes. @@RH-pz1du Yes! Aquafaba is the liquid that remains after you cook dry chickpeas. (When you buy canned chickpeas they are precooked and preserved with that liquid.) So if you don't want to use canned products or just cooked some dry chickpeas it is always a great idea to save the remaining aquafaba. TIP: Every time I cook dry chickpeas I also make some hummus with the aquafaba 😍
