The rhodes dough balls have a top and a bottom side, the ones that came out cuter were right side up, the others were upside-down. There's usually some faint parallel line indentations on the side that goes down. It's also possible that it was from the plastic sticking a little bit.

Pani Popo 3/4 cup coconut milk 1 and 3/4 cup bread flour 1 and 1/2 tablespoon coconut paste 1 teaspoon dry yeast 1 tablespoon sugar 3/4 teaspoon salt For the sauce: 3/4 cup coconut milk 1/3 cup sugar You will need a 9 inch glass or ceramic dish for the oven. To make the dough, in a large bowl mix the flour and salt. Warm the coconut milk and sugar to dissolve the sugar. Cool to lukewarm then add the yeast. Wait 5 minutes then add the mix to the flour in the bowl. Also add the coconut paste, and mix until you have a smooth dough. Let rise, interrupting the rise about every 15 minutes to punch down the dough, and fold it like a book. After about an hour, roll out the dough to 1/4 of an inch thick. Roll into a tight cylinder. Slice into 1 and 1/2 inch slices and arrange them closely (cut side up) in the oven dish. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F. Make the sauce by heating the coconut milk with the sugar until hot. When the oven is ready, pour all the hot sauce over the dough and put into the oven. Bake 25 minutes.

Hi, Emmy! Long-time subscriber/fan. I've watched you try so many foods I've never had, it was fun to see you try something I remember fondly. In the '80's in Utah, my mom would use Rhodes loaves and rolls all the time. (She was a fantastic from-scratch cook who could whip wonders together even without a recipe, but rolls stressed her out, so the Rhodes rolls helped a ton for Thanksgiving (& etc.) For a fun activity she'd sometimes let us kids shape the dough into teddy bears or crocodiles and decorate them with nuts and raisins. I'm totally trying this coconut sticky bun recipe! Looks amazing! 😋❤

Frozen unbaked bread (already shaped in loaves to drop right in the pan) and rolls were really popular in the 80s-90s. We had the rolls every year for Thanksgiving. In the 90s, Bob Evans sold frozen unbaked rolls already in a round foil pan, ready to thaw on the counter and bake. They were available in grocery stores in OH, WV, PA areas. In the 80s, ready-made dough for pizza crusts wasn’t really available, but frozen bread loaves were. Many dinners at my house were homemade pizza using frozen bread dough.

What are pandan leaves, ube and ensaymada?
@julianokleby144814 күн бұрын
@@destinyschild8515 Pandan leaves are leaves from a tropical plant that add flavor and color to a dish. Ube is a purple yam, or sweet potato. Ensaymada is a Filipino pastry made with a brioche dough rolled with butter and sugar, then topped with a special kind of Edam cheese that is similar to mild cheddar. Usually eaten for breakfast or a sweet afternoon snack.

Little tip… Rhodes rolls have a “top” and “bottom”, try to make sure you’re putting them in the pan to rise top side up, bcuz the bottoms can look shaggy like that and not rise as well as they’re meant to. I mean in the end it doesn’t really matter, unless you want them as aesthetically pleasing as their promo pics 💜 Ps… Rhodes also makes frozen dough LOAVES (you get 5 loaves for like $6 which is cheaper than premade!), they’re such an easy way to make home-baked white bread for yummy sandwiches😊

Good timing on this one! I just bought a bunch of coconut milk and wasn't sure what to do with it yet. Now I know what I'm making with one of them at least, only I make all my breads from scratch so might try making it with coconut milk in the actual rolls themselves instead of milk or water, then topping them this way, giving it a double coconut flavor. In theory anyway! They look delicious! Happy cooking everybody.

If they have a smell, I will wash them again before I use them.

There is a quick rise method where you put rolls in a pan sprayed with Pam, and cover with plastic wrap, also sprayed. Preheat oven to 200. Boil a small pot of water. Turn off oven, put rolls in with pot of water on bottom rack. They will double in size in about 30 min. Then bake as directed. This method works great!
