I immediately looked in skyscanner what was the cheapest destination for the next month or so. And thailand pop out. I booked the hell out of it and went for a trip with my girlfriend. It was our first trip ever for both of us, i am so ashamed of myself on why i did not do it earlier. We just came back a week ago. Amazing experience. Amazing people. Amazing food. From Canada, you state that Montreal is the capital of Quebec. Unless they changed it this morning, the capital of Quebec province is Quebec City. It was founded in 1608 and confirmed as capital in 1867 by Queen Victoria.

Sri Lanka was AMAZING! Everything there, including transportation in tuk tuks was very cheap. The food was fantastic, the people were kind, and the country was gorgeous. Places to go: -Sigiriya Rock - a beautiful hike up what used to be a palace, looks like a mountain that just pops up out of the jungle, there are beautiful ancient paintings on the rock, and giant lion legs/paws are carved on the mountain. If you like culture, hiking, scenery, and history, definitely a great spot! -train ride to Ella. You can’t miss riding the train, all of the tea plantations are gorgeous, and you get to see so much of the country. -Galle. A gorgeous city with beaches, colonial history, good food, and night life. -Giant Buddha in Kandy -Adams Peak. We started hiking at 2 am to see the sunrise from the temple at the top- gorgeous!

I've been to India, Nicaragua, Nepal, and the Philippines. The vagabrothers are right about San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. My favorite town in the world. Beautiful local beaches, amazing cheap food, and you can rent bike for cheap and go hop more towns and beaches. Pokhara, Nepal is my second favorite location. Beautiful geography on a lake and side by side with the Himalayas. You can basically do any adventure activity there. I went paragliding and it was remarkable!

I'm from Vietnam and I would recommend some of the best places 1. Ba Na Hills in Da Nang province ( and visit Giant Hands Bridge) 2. Nha Trang beach (remember to do the scuba diving to experience the coral and marine life) 3. Phu Quoc tropical beach 4. mountainous region of TayNguyen (especially Dalat city) 5. Ha Long Bay 6. Capital city of Hanoi etc. Don’t forget to try the local food wherever you go, you won’t regret it. Various cuisine, which is also extremely popular with foreign tourists, is one of the greatest prides of Vietnamese. Have fun !

Canadian here. Just a heads up, Montreal is awesome and absolutely worth the visit, but it is NOT the capital city of Quebec (as was stated in the video). Quebec City is the capital city of Quebec (another fabulous city to visit, with a great blend of french-canadian culture and beautiful architecture/narrow streets that have an old world European feel).

Guys: Lisbon in Portugal is great, really, Oporto is also magical, Azores has the best nature and landscape ever but if you are really looking for a place that has it all, the island of Madeira is the place to go. So small is doesn't show up in any world map it's the perfect combo of nature, culture, weather and fun! A trillion trekking or adventure sports opportunities, the loveliest and warmest waters of the Atlantic, tiny old villages all around and simply the most welcoming people ever. Not to even get started on the food... Seriously guys, this place does not disappoint.

Best places to visit in Western/Southern India: *Mumbai: City life mixed with multiple hill stations under 2-3 hour drives away, unending beaches, marine drive+ other waterside stretches, street food, old British architecture, fishing colonies, roadside shopping, best nightlife in the country, ferry ride to neighbouring islands (mandva, madh, alibaug, etc) *Goa: Beaches, water sports, rave parties, Portuguese colonial architecture, cheap booze. A couple of hours drive to Konkan/Tarkarli for dirt cheap scuba diving experience and white sand beaches. *Rann (desert) of Kutch: white sand desert, glamping/desert safari combined with cultural performances, Gujarati food. overall culture bomb. *Rajasthan: Palaces and castles, forts, deserts, folk culture, colourful cities, food. *Andaman & Nicobar islands: pristine beaches, water sports, one of the best scuba diving spots in Asia. Essentially an even cheaper and a bit off beat Thailand (phi phi, Koh samui) *Kerala/Allapey/Ooty/ Munnar: Back waters, tea/coffee plantations Nature lover's paradise. *Nashik: This one is rare on a travel list and totally unexplored. Essentially the wine destination of India. It is loaded with tons of Wineries. Best ones are Grover-Zampa or Sula vineyards. Some Vineyards even offer stays. Tours with tasting start at merely $4-5 per person. (I'll keep adding as I think of more, these are the most accessible from Mumbai)

vagabrothers I am! I am from Guanajuato! I highly recommend you visit my states capital Guanajuato, Guanajuato! It's full of callejones (small streets) and beautiful architecture along with great food! While you are in that state check out San Miguel de Allende and if you have extra time hop over to its neighbor state Michoacán and go to the Angangeo where you can see the monarch butterfly reserve and relax in some hot springs!

Hannia Zavala I agree! They did a great job describing Mexico. On a solo trip to Cancun I quickly got tired of the high prices and touristy everything. Hopped in a cab & had the time my life in Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel & Akumal. And the flights can't be beat when traveling from SFO! #VivaMexico

Hello from Dominican Republic!! TIP: To those planning on taking a trip to DR, let me just tell you that there's a lot more than just Punta Cana. The south region of the country (Pedernales and Barahona are great) can be even better for those wanting to avoid tourist places and for those who really want the island experience! If you're interested in culture and history, check out Zona Colonial (First city in America) in Santo Domingo, it can be a great escape from the city and it's about 20mins away from downtown.

Dirtman Rock One of my favorite places in DR would definitely be Bahia de las Aguilas, "Eagles Bay" in english. Here's a travel guide which covers the best places on the south region, including Bahia de las Aguilas www.thekeyitem.com/en/2017/01/road-trip-bahia-de-las-aguilas-free-travel-guide-2/ It is a true getaway, very different from Punta Cana and a must see destination. Other places worth checking out: Los Haitises, 27 Charcos de Damajagua, Isla Catalina, Isla Saona and Bahia de Samaná. If you come to Santo Domingo, PLEASE visit laguna Los Tres Ojos and if you chose the resorts in Punta Cana, don't leave without visiting Hoyo Azul and Ojos Indigenas. This are all places you can easily find information through google. I hope you decide to take a trip to DR! I love Punta Cana for how easy and accessible everything is, but this country has waaaaaay more to offer and foreigners often don't go outside their hotels and miss the opportunity of a great adventure.

In deciding on a great place to vacation or move and live cheaply, definitely consider the beautiful Philippines. My new home sweet home. My current cost of living here in the rural Philippine countryside is only about $500 a month, but I've lived here for as little as $250 a month, which included everything. I moved here from NYC in February 2018. In the USA, I felt very much like a mouse on a treadmill... working hard every day, but never getting ahead and improving my standard of living. At 55, I took a cold hard look at my life and not only realized my failure to ever excel financially, but that my future retirement was only going to be Social Security retirement. Fearing for the worse if I stayed and retired in the USA, I left NYC and my budget room rental of $520 a month and moved to the Philippines. I knew nothing about what my life would be like here in the Philippines. It was a huge risk moving here, but I didn't feel I had an option. I seriously needed an opportunity to improve my livelihood. My first year was rough as I suffered from severe culture shock, thinking Filipinos were too different for me to ever blend in with, but I stuck it out and eventually found myself feeling very much at home amongst my new people. I watch a lot of KZbin videos about where the cheapest places to live are and some say the Philippines, but none ever report a place cheaper than it has been here for me. I've lived here in my own beautiful modern country cottage for as little as $250 a month total... for everything and living comfortably. I've moved three times since being here. My cottage rental was almost $100 a month. After that, I rented a basic two room basement apartment for $40 a month. And now I rent a large 3 bedroom modern house for $100 a month. My highest monthly cost of living here is what I pay now, about $500 a month, which includes a lot of perks such as full-time domestic helpers. I feel my life is perfect at this monthly cost. I am living here in the Philippines cheaper than anywhere else I've ever lived and at a much higher standard of living than I have ever lived. You can get more details from my video about living cheaply here at: kzbin.info/www/bejne/barCf6B5rJqXm8U For me, the number one priority in choosing a great place to live is the people. Where I live, here in the rural Philippine countryside, the people are amazing; super friendly, helpful, welcoming, and inclusive. I would suggest anyone moving here to rent and remain uncommitted to a neighborhood until you find one with super friendly, trustworthy, and welcoming people. Not every neighborhood is the same and you will be much happier living here if you love the people you live around. In my area, everyone seems to be related. So much so, I always assume the people I meet here are. I believe that is why neighborhoods can be so different, because the people in one area share the same blood and ways of life. In NYC, I had to work really hard to create and maintain a healthy social life and dating there was near impossible. Here, all I do is walk out my door and the entire community is my social and romantic playground. In many ways, the Philippines has been so much better for me than the United States. So much so that it would be silly to ever return to living in the USA. I moved here to live cheaply and improve my life and have succeeded at both far beyond my expectations. The bottom line is one can move here and live very nicely at a super low cost, but only if that is their aim and they play their cards right. I think a lot of people will say they want to save money, but they're not serious enough to do it. They demand air conditioning, the nicest residence and amenities, and eat at the expensive restaurants. I have never lived like that. Not even in the USA. I have always lived rather frugally. But here, frugal takes on an entirely different meaning, as you can frugally live like a king here. Again.. You can get more details from my video about living cheaply here at: kzbin.info/www/bejne/barCf6B5rJqXm8U

Montréal is a gem. Maybe my favorite city on the continent, and that's saying a lot from someone from Toronto. It's incredibly multicultural. The people speak french AND english. Old town will make you feel like you're in paris, down-town will make you feel like you're in french New York. Finally, mount royal gives you the best view of it all. The history, the food, the atmosphere, the nightlife. Go to Montréal.

I'm Serbian, but I have to recommend Ohrid, Macedonia. Beautiful lake, great beaches. And it's very big, you can't see the opposite shore at all. The city of Ohrid has great history, medieval castle, churches and monestaries. It's also extremely cheap, a perfect destination to go to if you are on a tight budget. I would also recommend Serbian capital, Belgrade. Great history, excellent nightlife, affordable prices. ☺

He said that the best part of Greece to visit are the islands. WRONG!!! I am from Greece, and I will tell you for sure, do not go to one of the popular islands (Santorini, Mykonos, etc.), or to the very popular locations in Athens. They are just super-touristy and crazy-expensive. Go to other places in Greece, there's just so many underrated places in Greece, and the Aegean Islands, while they are very beautiful, are way too overrated. Go to places where you will find REAL Greeks, and REAL Greek culture, and not cheap versions of it sold at a very high price, for ignorant tourists. For example, go to the Ionian islands, Epirus, the many beautiful cities of the Peloponnese, and the ancient sites all over the country, in places such as Delphi, the region of Macedonia, Sparta, and more...

Santorini is not overrated. It really is ALL THAT.. a wonder in this world. No offence but Im also Greek and there's nothing in the world like Santorini.. A true marvel that everyone must see at least once in their lifetimes. Sure other islands are just as beautiful but truly there is nothing like Santorini or the beaches of Crete. (And i've been to 85%) of the places these guys mentioned in the video..

You are right. Last year I visited Greece and search for "wild" beaches. I encountered crystal-clear beaches with turquoise blue sea, white sand ... simply beautiful beaches that are like the most beautifull beaches in the world and are not commercialized. There is no crowd, everything is clean, surrounded by nature and trees. And all that for 20 times less money.

@@biserr18 Sure . For several years I went to beaches that are not crowded with tourists. I remember the following beaches: Voutoumi beach - Antipaxos, Kalami - Kythira, some beaches on Crete (forgot names), Ionian islands... I even went to the Thessaloniki region very cheap: Zougla beach (small beautiful wild beach), Babylon beach (was crowded but very nice) etc. I went to many more, but I forgot names. I mostly went adventurous (visited the ancient monuments and cities, villages, beaches etc) with my transportation.

Great Rift valley, and it's various lakes that's like across several countries, so gives you options. 7.Zanzibar, Tanzania, islands, spices, and history of ancient trade routes and architecture. 8. Peles Castle isn't the Dracula castle...that one is in the village of Bran (Bran Castle). The one shown in the video is Peles Castle in Sinaia. They're close to each other, but the Bran Castle is much more rugged-looking than Peles.

thatdamnaangie yogyakarta / jogjakarta is located south of central java. i am often go forth and back to Yogyakarta, got some siblings there too. i live in Semarang, which is the capital of central java. i could help you out to volunteer in some schools (there are some expats here too, don't worry) you can google it first, and you can mail me or contact me via instagram @ragilmalik if you're interested in it 👍 btw, i studied english language back in university, you could help some of my juniors by learning from a native speaker. that's gonna be a big help from them, i hope. anyway, i lived in Bali for about a year, and if you do want to visit there, stay away for tourist areas and just rent like a small flat in Kerobokan area. i got one for about $120 / month for full facilities like water heater, air conditioned room, garage, etc
@thatdamnaangie
@thatdamnaangie 7 жыл бұрын
thank you for that, I will look into these areas. I would love to volunteer as I am interested in seeing other schools around the world to help them improve their techniques and for ideas to improve my own. I would enjoy helping others practice the english language as well. I have gotten a few recommendations to look into Yogyakarta, so I will start my research there and hopefully find something in a non touristy area. I will contact you on insta. My names the same as my youtube name. Thank you again, Must have been great living in bali!

Portugal is 100% overlooked. I was on a trip around Europe and TAP (Transports Aéreos Portugueses) was the cheapest ticket so I said why not and added Lisbon to the list. It did NOT disappoint. The people were so friendly, food is cheap, and while parts of Lisbon are very touristy, they are easy to escape as well. I'm actually visiting Montreal right now and would agree that there is a lot a to do here that you can do on a small budget.
