Dude it's cheap for a reason I live in McAllen Texas and it's by far the worst area in the United States. Min wage is $7.25, the entire county including school districts, police departments, even political representatives are all crooked. Mexican cartels low key run the area I could keep going on and on.

Mind you, we don't usually get as many tornadoes and hailstorms as north and central Texas, but this May/June was really bad. We had a bad one hit in the middle of the night back in May.

I mean yes it socks because of the lack of good restaurants and entertainment but look at it like this, let's just say you make $3k a month... in Cali a majority of that money would go to rent and the rest to whatever bills you can afford to pay. In Mcallen, less than 1/3 goes to rent for an apartment so that means you have 2/3 of that amount to pay bills and save money. That's a win if u ask me. I have lived in many places thanks to the military and by far this place is the best bang for the buck if you get what I saying.

@@Someb0dy1Day Wages are very low here. There is HUGE competition for any job. McDonalds' 15 an hour is an amazing rate of pay. Most people work 2+ jobs for 35 thousand a year (combined). When you add on the fact that the sales taxes are over 10% on everything you buy, it really adds up.

McAllen is a Area where there’s a lot of DHS employees and other federal departments the cost of living is great, but I don’t get it twisted property taxes are insane here there’s a lot of money that has to go onto the infrastructure for all those federal agencies and it shows up lol

Wow, that's a bargain. If I sold my modest 4x2 home in Australia and was able to buy this, I'd have around $260K leftover. Then I'd buy a '57 Ford Fairlane skyliner for the garage.
