@Agloriousburrito Жыл бұрын
To stop the motor from burning out you need a water jacket for the motor. It works by pushing water through a silicone tube that connects to a waterjacket on the motor. Then it exits the boat and starts the cycle again. No additional motors are needed just the water cooling system that works due to the force of the water when the boat moves.

The “sucking air” issue may be cavitation from running too high of a KV motor. This is a common issue in jet-boats, and also boats and water pumps in general
@lucasvanhamburg49372 жыл бұрын
yeah an outrunner motor relies mostly on air to cool so its probably not a great idea to run a high power setup inside an enclosed boat without any airflow
@nathan1sixteen2 жыл бұрын
@@lucasvanhamburg4937 it has nothing to do with in-runner vs out-runner but everything to do with propellor speed and pitch. I have run and have seen many people run out-runner motors in boats with no issues. The big thing is matching prop size with speed. Considering he didn’t use the suggested motor, he isn’t getting the results the designer got. 1400kv on 4s is ~21000rpm. 650kv on 6s is ~14,500rpm. Basically, the impeller is spinning 50% after on his setup causing cavitation

It's called CA Kicker. It's a CA accelerant. He's using it wrong, glue should be applied to one half and the accelerants sprayed on the other half and allowed to dry quickly. Then the two halves are joined for an instant bond.

I'm thinking about building something like this too, but as a complete novice to RC boats I do have a questions: Are there any waterproofing considerations for the internals? I mean, you do have a forward facing scoop on the top, so in rougher water... Also, do you have any suggestions for waterproofing the hole for the driveshaft? Is the paint necessary? I also saw you spray a coating over the propeller, does PLA have problems with water?
@rcprinter2 жыл бұрын
I haven't opened the scoop hole yet so there's that but yes you do need to be careful. The biggest place I get water in is actually the driveshaft at the moment so I'm hoping adding grease in the space between the bearings will help. I don't the paint is absolutely necessary but I think it also helps with the waterproofing. PLA doesn't have problems with water as far as I'm aware.
