I love this border. Thank you for taking time to show us this stitch. Its great to see videos that take their time showing us how to do a stitch without going so slow trying to teach how to crochet single crochet stitches, etc, which is another video to learn before this one. Thanks bunches for all you do for us! ⚘️🌷🪻

Thank you for tutorials about four different borders, your instructions are thorough and so easy to understand. I’m trying to decide what border to use on a basket weave baby blanket I’ve just made and I want it to be simply and not complete with the design of the weave. Do you have any suggestions, I’m in the middle of another blanket for my future great grandchild so I have a little time to wait for your reply. Many thanks Judy
@ModeBespoke4 жыл бұрын
Hi Judy! Congratulations on the new grandbaby! 🎉 For a basket weave blanket, I’d opt for a simple border. This way, the focus stays on the main blanket stitch. I’ve used a single crochet border in the past (also for a basket weave), and it looked great! I made it about 2 inches wide. Happy crocheting!
@cathymartin3379 Жыл бұрын
In all the videos I've watched on borders, you are the first person that does 4 stitches in your border corners on the first row rather than 3, can I ask what you feel makes that better? I dont see a lot of difference.
@ModeBespoke Жыл бұрын
My corners usually cup, possibly due to a tighter tension or resulting from using a smaller hook for my borders than I do the blanket. Adding a stitch fixes it.

@ModeBespoke2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for letting me know! I took down the pattern as it needs some additional work, but I’ll post something when it’s up again. As for the yarn, I believe it was Caron Simply Soft 🤔 Really, any yarn with a sheen will look fantastic with that stitch.

Can we use a different yarn weight on the border than from the blanket? I ask because I could not find the same weight in the color I wanted to use for border. The blanket is a 5 but the border color I got was a 4. How would you incorporate that so it looks right? Thanks
@ModeBespoke4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! That’s the beauty of handcrafting, you can make anything! I’ve used different weight yarns for several blanket projects, and it comes down to what look you want to give it. I like the obvious difference between the two because it creates a very distinct border, and since you mentioned using a different color for the border, I’m guessing you are ok with making the border stand out? I’d start by testing out the stitch you want to use for your border with the same hook you used for the blanket. If it doesn’t look the way you want, then use a smaller hook. Depending on how big the stitches on the blanket are, you may even want to try using a small hook (3.72 or 4.25) and work two border stitches into each of the blanket stitches. If you can’t find the look you’re going for, email me. We can brainstorm. :)

Hi, I love the way you explained the borders. I just finished knitting a baby blanket in raspberry stitch and want to crochet a border. Since I am a beginner, I should have knit each stitch at the end of each row to make adding a border much easier, but I did not think of it in the beginning. Too late now. I am going to crochet a single crochet around full blanket and then I would like to try a shell around for second row. I will look on your site for a tutorial on how to accomplish this. Thank you.

What happens if you don’t close the round and instead you just keep going around and around?
@ModeBespoke2 жыл бұрын
Nothing. That’s normally what I do with a border and it works and looks just fine.
@michelleschafer96925 жыл бұрын
Hi I just found this tonight and enjoyed it. BUT I am very new at crocheting and always have difficulty with my corners!! They end up being wavy!! I was trying to make a thick single crochet border. 8 times around the blanket. Started of with 3 single crochet, chain 1, 3 single crochet in the same hole. Then the rounds after that first row was single crochet, chain one, single crochet in the same hole. AND still wavy corners.....what am I doing wrong??
@ModeBespoke5 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thank you! You know, I used to have the same problem! It was so frustrating! Wavy usually means you have too many stitches. So I’d try reducing the number of SC in that first row. Start by removing one SC, crochet a few rounds and see it that helps. If it is still wavy, remove one more. Hope it helps!
@michelleschafer96925 жыл бұрын
@@ModeBespoke ok I am making another one the same.....so I'll try this. Its weird because I followed a pattern..... but I am going to try what you say with this one. Thanks
@ModeBespoke5 жыл бұрын
Sure thing! Let me now how it works out. Remember that a pattern is just a guide, love. We all crochet differently, so it may just be that your stitches are slightly larger than those of the person who wrote the pattern. I have to adjust patterns to fit my crochet needs all the time! You got this! 🙌🏻
