I absolutely believe the 1st story, even if it was never in the news much. Born and raised in Oregon (through Y2K), I've grown up hearing about all kinds of communes, cults, religious groups, etc. Our wilderness is some of the most plentiful and it's a great place to live off grid if you can find a way, EXCEPT in a large group. They always end up badly. Oh also those reformation schools for "bad kids". My dad went to one and it was basically an excuse to torture kids that's funded by the state. I feel like these places always start off with good intentions, but Oregon is so progressive and flexible, it only takes one person driven by power in a bad way to ruin everything, and without accountability from the state. Oi.

I'm pretty sure about 90% of the stories on Let's Read, Let's Not Meet, CritCrab, and others are fictitious. There's rarely any police involvement or news from the area to confirm any of it, even when there would be. 40:02 for people who don’t know, this use of the word vertigo is not correct, probably from the movie vertigo which makes people think it’s a fear of heights, it is not, it is actually a condition that is super hard to live with that also effects your balance, if he actually was hit with vertigo he would be falling over, not able to walk straight forward and would be throwing up because of that. Just wanted to mention it, I know it’s written into the story and that’s why they have read it, I just thought I’d correct it for the listeners
@Arsewell-Foundation
@Arsewell-Foundation Жыл бұрын
You're actually incorrect. Height vertigo is another form of vertigo. Height vertigo is caused by a conflict between vision, vestibular and somatosensory senses. This occurs when vestibular and somatosensory systems sense a body movement that is not detected by the eyes. So now you've been educated.

Exactly. I don’t know who else could go into that cavern safely except maybe Heavy D. He’s gone into mines trying to find people or bodies, but he’s got tons of equipment, connections, and money at his disposal. Anyone else going into that hole without a team, assload of equipment, and climbing experience is dead meat. No cop or public employee should be asked to risk their life like that. The only thing you’re finding of Jody is bones. He went off the deep end, figuratively and literally, after his wife rug-pulled him. She should be ashamed of herself but I’m sure the money helped her rationalize her actions. The time to help his brother was before 1989. He needed therapy and not to be enabled to sit in his parents’ house to drink away his sorrows. Depression needs treatment and support. Too late now to do what should’ve been done then. Sorry, but it’s over.

Explain like I'm 5, what is a layline?

Dmitri, a layline is has something to do with sailboat racing, something about the invisible projected path needed to take around something something and something about jibs. I don’t know, I’m not a sailor. But I think they mean leylines, which are what some people think connect historical sites (like Stonehenge, but also important government buildings and I think even sites of important historical events) in straight lines and supposedly carry energy or something and are sometimes associated with paranormal and some other stuff events. I don’t know, I actually really enjoy conspiracy theories but I don’t look into any one of them enough to actually explain any of them well. Or, I guess I’d attempt to tell a five year old: straight lines of power joining important sites around earth. Some people believe these lines are real, some don’t, most people, like you, have never even heard of leylines.

The first story I thought it was a cult, but from continuing to listen, it just seemed like a bunch of hippies. What I was wondering, why did the council not want certain people to leave ? That is cult like behavior, but clearly they did not mind some people leaving. It probably was a mild cult, but man cults are creepy.
