I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzbin.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

*Coming up on having had this saw for a year....am a casual user and bought it to cut up sections for bowl blanks. Easy to start, **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend even after storage for a couple of months. Simple chain tension adjustment. Just cut up some 20" Osage Orange, including ripping bolts in half (at an angle). Like butter!*

I love the 455s and even the old 55s. I run a firewood business and normally sell around 100 loads every winter. I ran a 455 for a year or so then I quit doing firewood so I sold it and I've missed it ever since. So today I bought one with a bad oil pump for $50 so needless to say I'm keeping this one lol

Just picked up a 455, wish I would of had it a day sooner had a full day of cutting down 3 big 50+ year old mesquite trees between my dad and 2 friends all running chainsaws..but we were just working with small chainsaws so made work harder than it should of been and splitting wood with a 5lb axe all day wore me out definitely felt it the next day..so my pops and I invested in some better work equipment..I picked up the 455 rancher and he got the 1 right under it not shure on the model..we have some more work cut out for us this weekend, excited 2 see how she runs.

Considering the big price difference for the Stihl, and few seconds difference in time to cut, I would definitely chose the Husqvarna. If you stepped up a bit the Husqvarna 460 Rancher, the time to cut would likely be equal, and still a lot less money than what the Stihl costs. I think they are both great saws, but the price difference is huge, and the Stihl is not that much better. Nice video though. Thanks.

My 460 cuts like a pro saw. I paid $520 after taxes for mine. That was 3 years ago and I use my saw at work because we cut big stuff on occasion, and our Stihl 290, while an excellent saw but too heavy for the lack of power, doesn't always get the job done in a timely manner. I love my 460. I'm actually considering buying another one, or a 465, so I can keep 2 powerful saws ready and keep a 20" bar on one and a 24" on the other.

Danny the Husqvarna works yes and may cut faster in some situations but the stihl is built better in every way and not a pile of plastic and if and when the stihl wears out it is easily rebuildable unlike the Husqvarna that designed to be a 1 and done disposable saw.
@dannyhullihen966
@dannyhullihen966 2 жыл бұрын
@@EddieLindsay681 Perhaps that might be true among some of the china imports? However, such is definitely NOT the case with Husqvarna. They are totally rebuildable, and parts are easily available if needed. Definitely not a "one and done" saw. The same applies to many other Husqvarna products. I have had a couple of mine for well over 10 years now. Never a problem with either of them. Perhaps not a "pro saw"" but they get the job done. To each their own I guess ...

He needs to turn the bar up right and try again. Plus, he needs to keep the rpms up. If he is not pushing the saw he needs to hold up a little. If the chain stops in the cut, it is not cutting. If the chain stops in the cut, opperator error.

Typical firewood specialist! Every stihl I've ran. Has always been no matter how cold or hot... full choke 2 pulls sputters, half choke one pull starts up with high idle pop chain brake off and let it high idle just a second or two. And it will not stop until u run out of fuel! And before you say something stupid. I have been a line clearance Arborist for over 8yrs! Used a lot of saws, mostly stihl 361/362 and 200T/201tc even the 192/194 top handles. I've ran echo ground saws and trim saws I've ran Husqvarna ground saws. I haven't used the Husqvarna trim saws much. But I've done them all enough to tell you. Coming from someone who ran a saw virtually all day 8-10hrs a day. I've come across very very lil problems with any of my stihl saws. That wasn't the fault of a new groundsmen. So your lil statement couldn't be any further from the truth! Especially with their stupid primer bulb and cheap flimsy ass choke selectors! The only people who say shit like you just did, are people who can't afford a Stihl pro saw!😂

I owned 2 Stihl saws. An MS250 and an MS360. I cut coastal oak, eucalyptus, pine and manzanita in foothills of San Diego. Loved those saws. They were stolen from me in Texas on my move to Florida. I now own a Husq. 450 and a 455. These 2 saws start a lot faster, 2 pulls choke and 2 pulls off. Like clock work. They have fallen and bucked at least 60 trees, magnolia, oak and southern yellow pine, after Hurricane Michael. The 455 has, by far, stronger torque than the 450 but really gets heavy near the end of the day. Both the Stihls and Husq. got the job done but make sure high throttle diesels on the Stihls or you'll cook the piston and jugs.

I don't know why this video popped up, but in Australia, Stihl vs Husqvarna is like Landcruiser vs Patrol or Holden (GM) vs Ford, the one you own is always better. I've owned a Husqvarna 450e for around 15 years and it's done an awful lot of work and still runs like new, starts on the second pull just about every time. I just finished cutting up a 100'+ Messmate gum and half of it's big brother that were between 15"-24" diameter and it didn't break a sweat (I did). Stihl can often dominate the market in certain areas because Stihl buys out dealers or gives them offers to discontinue other brand sales. Husqvarna professional saws would have to be as good as any Stihl equivalent.

I have used a Stihl 362CMQ for several years now. It cuts anything you need to cut so long as you don't hit too much hardware. I hated parting with the money for the M-Tronic carb and Quickstop right hand features, but they're worth every penny. If I had anything bigger I feel like fatigue would set in before a long day was over, especially if it's your third or fifth day. I use 16" and 25" bars (which are the shortest and longest recommended for that saw) with 3/8" full chisel chains. This saw obviously isn't a monster made for giant tree fellling, but I do just about all of my groundsman cutting with it. Even with the 25 bar on 20+" dead black locust, it takes some significant leaning on it before it'll bog down. I have cut up to 40" red oak with it and it still cut at least acceptably well although the tree was already down (uprooted in a storm). Just cut one side, wedge to prevent pinching, and cut the other. Maybe a bigger saw would've been better, but this did just fine. You gotta piss with the cock you've got after all. I haven't tried the Husq 455, but I'm sure it's more than capable if you're just doing firewood for a couple homes. Hell even a smaller Stihl 261 is plenty for most needs if you're wanting to do firewood while still having all the long-life pro grade materials. I think both saws from this video are more then enough for firewood. No reason to hate whatsoever one way or the other. Thanks for posting.

Glad you had a good experience with your 362. Mine has been trash since new. Hard starting, cuts off after coming out of the cut. Reset the m tronic doesn't actually "fix" the issue. My 261 has the regular carb and runs a little more reliable (not perfect) that since new has been finicky as well. Not impressed myself. I had a cs600p echo that never gave any issues and it was ten years old.

Go big ...or go home much much later ...I've got a quiver of saws as I cut a lot of wood ..from Stihl MS880,660, 460's Mcculloch 850,700 to a few smaller arborist. A professional saw will cost more ..but they will run for over 2000 hours. So if you're cutting 5 cords of wood a year or more ... get a bigger 70cc or bigger saw and your decendents will fight over it. I've also stepped up with barker boxes and square ground chain. I'm 40 % faster again through the wood. You can't beat cutting faster. its easier on you and your saws. I'm home having a beer while you with a small saw are still out there ... good luck to you. Now what sort of splitter do you have ?

Even if sthill and Husqvarna were equally as good as each other I would still go for Husqvarna because it is more affordable both in upfront cost and replacement part cost. Both are great machines both will last a lifetime if you take care of them properly Husqvarna has more torque in the high end which is where it counts and the Husqvarna is far less expensive for the equivalent chainsaw. My cousin who has been a sthil fan for his entire life recently used my Husqvarna 455 rancher when he is used to using professional Stihl chainsaws and he asked me where I got it and how much I spent on it when I told him and told him what it costs and how much replacement parts cost for it he told me he was about to go buy a Husqvarna 455 rancher and a bigger Husqvarna chainsaw to use for his tree service saws.

Cuts faster then my ms362 and it always starts. Stihl I have had to mess with it dam near every time I use it. Plus the Huskey is so much better handling, smoth as butter with no vibration. Just keeps going and going... Stihl must be a better sponser.... Not just you a few chan els do it... Like that 500i... Buckin Billy Ray is the only one that said he dont like it... Yet a 576 huskey cosy $500 less, built better and cuts better, or just as good... We all know Huskeys run forever.... Keep it real...

I own an Echo CS620P w/ 24" bar. Factory, no mods. It's a fantastic chainsaw! It's built like a tank, simple to start and starts super easy every time, has excellent power and torque and will cut through wood just as fast or faster than the Stihl was in this video. It is actually compared spec wise to the Stihl MS362. It's a pro-grade saw like the Stihl but priced like a Husky 455-460 Rancher. I would buy it again without any hesitation! My only complaint... it's too heavy for extensive limbing. But this isn't a limbing saw so that's unfair on my part. I use a Husqvarna 440e for that job. I was going to buy an Echo CS501P for my limbing saw and still plan to buy one, but at the time I needed one immediately so I ran to my local Lowes and bought the Husky. The Husky is a perfect limbing saw, but right out of the box it wouldn't stay running when idling. I had to adjust the carb on it. I would even recommend the Echo CS590 Timberwolf over the Husky 455 rancher. They can be had for right around $400 or less.

@@obeconoberougle9497 I also bought the the CS501P I was so impressed by my CS620PW (regret buying full wrap would rather not have it for size and weight). I agree the 620 is heavy (I have the 27" bar which it pulls with ease and a 20" bar) I will tell you the CS501P is not as impressive so I purchased a Husqvarna 550XP Mark II and could not be happier. I still use my 501P (mainly for pine trees due to sap and me liking a clean saw) as it is light but that Husky is simply a much better saw as it seems to rev much higher right from day one and has better throttle response plus it is also light. Maybe I just need more patience for the 501P to break in😊 I have 10 saws and of them 5 are Echo so I like the brand.

Generally, Stihl has faster chain speeds than other chainsaws. It’s because many saw operators are likely to impatient and therefore push the saw too much. Chain speed is the key to cutting fast, so don’t be so hard on it. Does that mean the stihl is better? I think it’s has a lot to do with who’s cutting.

Among a few other saws I've had a 455 for over 10 years and I use it constantly because we heat totally with wood. It may be a little slower on a 24 inch log but honestly I'm not cutting logs that big most of the time. They also come with a safety chain so if you don't throw that thing in the trash you'll never get good cut times. I run H46 blades and try to keep them sharp and it works for me. H47's would be better for dirty wood or lazy sharpeners lol And honestly with the difference in size and price these aren't two comparable saws.

@@dentondunn4346 it looks like the Husky is about $50 dollars more but it's about 3 CC's more also. The Stihl seems hard to find to purchase and the reviews aren't good. I've never had a 271 so I can't truly give an honest opinion. I do have an old 080 Stihl but that's apples and oranges. I've had friends with newer Stihls that weren't that happy. Honestly the only Stihl owners that I know that are happy have old models. I know my 455 has lasted well over a decade and my other Husky's before that one were sold off in perfect working condition. They started easy as well. My 455 has sat out in the rain and the ice many times. It has lived in the back of my open Jeep for the past 3 years or so and has never failed on me. To tell you how well it starts, it still has the original pull cord. The only thing I've replaced has been the rubber fuel line from old age. Just my opinion but I'd only go with Husky.

291(55cc) is the competition for the 455(55cc) and 311(59cc) is the competition for the 460(60cc). All great saws if you take care of them in my opinion. Best way to take care of your saw and get the most out of it is to keep them clean( including blowing out the sawdust in and around the crankcase and jug), use good high octane gas(non ethanol is better but not necessary if you use stabilizer), use good mixing oil, keep bar groove and oiler cleaned, flip bar every new chain, keep chain sharp( if you have to rock or push on saw then your chain needs sharpened), resist the urge to max rev your saw when not under load(especially when cold), try not to bog the saw because it’s hard on the clutch.

AVOID STIHL. I have a part defect issue that has rendered my Stihl MS391 unworkable/won't start. (RRP is £650 now, bought 3 years 10 months ago new in December 2016). Rolling forward to now, October 2020, the cylinder head thread has worn to the point of not starting at all as the spark plug is wobbling about, this despite the light garden only use which I reckon is maybe 6 weekend's use per year over 4 years of ownership. Stihl insist that it is a wear & tear issue and won't offer any restitution. I was quoted £275 repair cost on the £650 saw. Crazy. It's quite possibly going to the landfill site now. You pay more for #Stihl European quality but the product is filled with sub-standard parts that ruin the product life.

I'm certainly no expert at all on saws, but I have a 455 for dealing with the needs of my 10 acre homestead. Owned it 10 years and only use it a few times a year, and usually only for a couple hours at a time. It always starts right up and runs good. I run pure gasoline in it, not the 10% ethanol that likes to gum up carbs. Follow the directions: Pull the blue tab, push the compression release, pump the priming bulb 5-6 times and it'll fire after the first or second yank of the cord. Push in on the blue tab, yank the cord and it's alive. EVERY time. Let it run for 20 seconds, rev it up a couple times and it's ready to get to work. I'm an office worker and don't hit the gym as much as I should. The saw definitely feels heavy after an hour or two of work.
