you know what disgust me with the scene with seamus talking to ste, is that he isn't even genuine when he said all of that. he put on a front whenever anyone is around or in front of ste. all what he said just sounds so irritating coming from him, he should know how bren is alright, he made him like that. seamus is just a sick twisted bastard.

That's common and expected.Remember when Ste first changed to the better?No one believed him and Jaqui even humiliated Ste in front of everyone in the restaurant he worked for when she believed he beat Theresa,when actually Theresa just hit her face in an open door. It broke my heart when Ste's said he was trying hard to change but "My rep keeps catching up with me".BB is going through the same phase. But Ste would eventually come around,as he did in this case.

You have to remember that Ste's storyline started years before Brendan, Ste has been betrayed and abused by people he loved before (His mom, Daniel, Abby, not to mention the cheating Noah who claimed to love him). To top it all Brendan has lied and manipulated before. It is normal for someone who has been through the life experience Ste has not being able to trust easily. Actually it's coherent character writing by the HO writers.

For me, the saddest part is Brendan thinking he deserves distrust and accusations, that no matter how hard he tries to change, in Steven's eyes he'll remain an abuser. Brendan's realized Ste still hasn't really forgiven him, doesn't fully trust him and a part of him doesn't think Brendan's changed, though Ste claims the opposite. I have a feeling that Brendan didn't believe Ste's "I love you, forever" (judging by his reaction) and BB's already pulling away. He went to Ireland alone, after all.

gosh, my poor baby. I understand why he needs to leave. To have everyone thinking he commit a crime when it is that very thing that has been eating at him everyday. Been rape so many times and to be accused of the very thing and being judged in the village. I get it, it isn't b/c of ste but its just so sad. What kills me, every time I watch this, is why does Ste believe he'd do something like that? Beating Kevin to a blood pulp is one thing, he'd do that, but sexually assaulting him? How could Ste think he'd ever do something like that? And am I the only one who tears up when Brendan tells Ste there is nothing, nothing, he could do to make him stop loving him? It's just so sad and beautiful.

I'm not saying it's wrong for Ste to have trust issues (everyone has them even those who have never been abused) I'm just sad for Brendan. It seems he'll never be rid of his past even if he tries to be a better man. But as Doug said, if you don't have trust, what's the point? Well, I guess it goes to show that broken trust can never be restored. As far as writing is concerned, I think I'll sit on the fence. (Ste believing that Brendan *sexually* assaulted Kevin doesn't sit well with me)

Anyone who thinks that Seamus has changed and now cares about Brendan does not know the mind of a pedophile, especially one that commits incest. It is all about power and control. It is clear that he still wants to control Brendan's life and Cheryl's too. His advice to Ste may have sounded good, but I guarantee you that there is an ulterior motive behind it.
