@Truth The reason BAC (as well as C, WFC, and other U.S. banks) goes belly up is because "eventually" all markets get to a level of "true" pricing. I certainly hope you don't think home prices were allowed to adjust to levels that were real in 2008/2009. Look at what happened. The banks sold some mortgages on the eggzact same grossly over valued home more than one time. Then when the SHTF, Wall St (Uncle Ben bernanke and Hank "uncle fester" Paulson) convinced you through the morons you put in office in Wash, D.C. to sell your grandkids' future so that the banks could be made whole at whatever the price of homes were in 2009 instead of marking to market. The banking "cabal" then went and used the funds that the Fed made available, and through criminal organizations like Blackrock for 1, went into your home town and bought literally hundreds of homes for $25K to $35K (Petey of course just went and paid a "guesstimated" 2X what the place in Boca he is trying to sell was worth in 2009, which is now the reason he finds himself 30% underwater at the second peak of housing prices). The "real" market WILL now go and price homes back to the level where they "woulda" went if the Wall St/govmint banking cabal were not allowed to misallocate funds again...and true price discovery was allowed to happen in 2008/2009. You can't hide the Truth from a real market, no way...no how. This is why GODL and especially oil continue to drop. Those are future inflationary indicators. Both have been ahead of the stock market (economy) for years now. The stock market always foretells the future if you know where to look. Go look at a chart of TOL (homebuilder stock) back to Jan 1, 2005. You "might" be sooprised what you see. TOL stock price began its descent in April 2005. Right when Jim Cramer began his Mad Monkey show on CNBC and made his dummass "land bank theory" of investing his first BIG investment theme of the future. I'm sure you won't be sooprised by that at least. :-)

Peter, all things, including gold, have value. But the value is a comperative term. The value of things increases and decreases relative to other things. No ''thing'' has high or low value as a default. It is only when you compare it relative to something else that its value can be high or low.

Trade statistics are a sham. For example, the iPhone is considered a Chinese export to the U.S., even though it is entirely designed and owned by a U.S. company, and is made largely of parts produced in several Asian and European countries. China's contribution is the last step of assembling and shipping. So the entire estimated wholesale cost of the shipped phone is credited to China, even though the value of the work performed by the Chinese workers accounts for about 3% of the total. If China was credited with producing only its portion of the value of an iPhone, its exports to the U.S. for the same amount of iPhones would be a U.S. trade surplus, after accounting for the parts U.S. firms contribute. I don't recall this phenomenon being discussed in this podcast.

If someone invents money on island that has no money the create a product to use to accomplish a task of trading and savings. You choose what product works for you and if you don’t believe there is any value in electricity your free to believe that. Bitcoin is a product that is useful regardless if you know it or not even though you can hold it in your hand, much like software it has value because I can transfer it without someone telling me NO. If bitcoin did not exist today I would not be able to pay for large ticket items because every time I do on my credit card they tell me NO or ask. If it was me. Cut military budget in half and make healthcare free like all other modern countries. Those who can afford private care can choose to do that. Everyone gets sick and dies. Mandating a permanent war budget that is so bloviated while disparaging those who want to not live in fear of how to pay for inevitable health problems is beyond me. Even the majority of GOP wants Med4All. I think Peter has hard on for socialists and can't see beyond those ideological blinders when it comes to popular will and common sense solutions. This isn't a market you get to choose to be in or not. EVERYONE gets sick and dies. Therefore everyone needs healthcare. Creating a system where everyone is socially policed and schooled is totally normal, but helped from illness is socialist and abhorrent? Our "healthcare" has become a parasitic extraction of wealth from people who become ill, nothing more.
@citizeng79596 жыл бұрын
Capitalism, while not perfect by any means, is the best political/economic system because it is aligned with human nature (life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness). I also believe in what I call "Contributory Socialism." That is, we all contribute to the system more than we take out of it. That's the essence of, for example, taxes. A community needs a road. Everyone pitches in (taxes) to build the road. Everyone benefits. The key is: any individual who is able must contribute more than they take out. Why? Because there are always going to be those who cannot make a net positive financial contribution (e.g. working age people who cannot work). We must take care of those who cannot take care of themselves. However, since the New Deal, socialism has morphed from a "hand up" to a "hand out." The government has gotten gargantuan, and we've all become accustomed to the "nanny state." At this point I'd say most people are net takers rather than net contributors, when you factor in those on social assistance of some kind, retirees, and those who either work directly or indirectly for the government or for whom the government is their customer. This is not sustainable. And it's coming to a head at a time when those who don't know their history are crying for more socialism. What those people don't understand is that rampant socialism where the government just gives everyone free stuff (income, rent, education, healthcare, etc) does not lift everyone up to a better existence; it drags everyone down toward a lower standard of living. And ultimately misery. Or worse. Pray the current insanity that has gripped America will be fleeting. We need smaller government that gets back to basics, far less taxes, free (but regulated) markets, and enforced laws that put the crooks in jail. We also need the globalists to go away and take their climate change scam with them. We need global cooperation, not global government. Sorry, I'm spewing now

In 1980 the prime was 18% and the price of G&S reflected an inflation peak. 26:37 3rd worse Thanksgiving stock market since (when?) the great depression (deflation) 27:35 Pensions under funded and failing (deflation) 28:39 Homeowners taking equity out of their house to keep their neck above economic water (deflationary) 29:20 Housing weak, Peter cannot sell his house even at a loss (deflation) Inflation = An increase in the money supply and credit reflected in the economy with raising prices and wages. Deflation = A decrease in the money supply and credit reflected in the economy with falling prices and wages No matter how much they attempt to blow up the balloon the air continues to go out. The US is in deep deep deep trouble!

It's sad because I'm trying to point out some of these problems to my family. But they won't listen to me! It seems I'm gonna have to watch their retirement and small business go up in smoke...

Go back and listen to Peter talk about the employees of a Crypto company wanting to get paid in fiat money because they have bills to pay, etc. Every time he says 'Bitcoin' substitute the word "Gold" in it's place and try to see if there's any difference.

I call bullshit on that one. The dollar barely reacted and it will recover and march higher. Either Trump juices the market with tweets, Kudlow yammers, and now Powell; it's all irrelevant long term. I made good money shorting oil today, I was going doing "voodoo" to get oil to go below 50; oh so close I shorted NG at 4.70 and expect to wake up to a nice morning opening I'd be giddy @4.25 I'm not greedy lol. This is such a joke; MR Market will demand higher rates; the FED is powerless. Schiffy's yammering will be relevant, soon.6-8 months? We are looking at DEFLATION, right now...Well into next year; so I'm on defense. I'm shorting just about everything to include gov't sachs ooops I mean Goldman Sachs. I flipped my FXI to FXP. With oil this low; all the garbage debt over there in fracking land is cracking. Financials are cracking right now; zombie companies issuing B- bonds and leveraged loans to pay off previous loans. So many corps went on a debt binge to buy competitors via leveraged buyouts; the stress is cracking the phony foundation of a "solid" economy. Numerous examples are out there. Then around; let's say Q1 when inflation hits stocks and corps to get falling earnings and declining stock prices. Selling begets more selling and triggers algorithms to SELL SELL SELL. right now the VIX IS BACK ON THE RISE. as I write this; and for some reason I'm writing in red font; lol. of reality.

Depending on the several factors including power cost mining BitCoin can still be profitable because when the price goes down the hash power needed to mine them also goes down so you mine more coins. So I don't think Peter is quite up to speed on the technical aspects of BitCoin as he thinks he is.
