I've been turning wrenches for 30+years and worked on every trailer manufacturer out there. I love working on Dorsey's the best. Not because of high maintenance problems , everything is so easy to get to. To me very mechanic friendly...😉

Our family owned one of the oldest Dorsey dealerships in the country . We didn't sell the most trailers but we were the largest part distributors in the country for Dorsey. We go back to the 1950's all the way to the great flood of 1998 that destroyed the plant when a levee failed. It was the end of the original Dorsey that built vans and flats. It is good to see it back up after all these years.

I use to deliver translucent roof material there back when they made dry vans. So glad to see they came back stronger than ever!

I don't know when they quit making them, but I remember my grandfather's trucking company had Dorsey dry vans back in the '70s. I can' remember the last time I even saw a Dorsey trailer. Thanks for the flashback.

Being a machinist I've worked around big steel, made repair parts for just about every industry you can think of, and eventually went into business for my self for 32 years with 13 employees owning a maintenance machine shop, repairing or making parts for mostly rolling-mills (those coils you haul only sheet steel) and pharmaceutical companies until I retired and liquidated. Thanks for the tour, very interesting. As always, nice seeing you Dan and safe trucking to you.. Congratulations again on your new sponsor " Dorsey Trailers"..............

Nothing beats a failure but a try! Somebody call Paccar and tell'em Dan demands satisfaction and will accept nothing less than a complete resto of his devoted 379 that is patiently waiting her turn to show these new junkers just how to haul loads. She still has a great set of legs on her gosh darn it! "Give Dan a resto...give Dan a resto...give Dan a resto😁

We were going to buy 3 Dorsey 53’ step decks with ramps on the back but the wait time was months. Then we found 3 manac’s so we got those. The guy who hauls for us has both but the dorseys are better quality.

What's the difference between a step deck trailer and a standard flatbed trailer? Other than the obvious designs?
@michaelmcclure86734 жыл бұрын
I'm not a super trucker, but aren't those called crossmember's ? And I like your terminology better, rotisserie . It makes it easier to weld when it's all flat welding with no overhead.
@jeffwindsor17024 жыл бұрын
It seems like quite an impressive operation . How many do they build in a day?
@jasonpassmore33274 жыл бұрын
I am not a driver, although I have a family full of them. My question is. What are the advantages of a step deck if any over a flatbed? Thanks and keep up the good work
@funnyfarm55554 жыл бұрын
OK, dumb question. How do they get the prestress curve in the bed of the trailer? The ones inside the factory looked straight.
