For anyone wondering Michigan allows 164,000lbs gross 13,000lbs per axles. So to haul that much you have to have 11 axles on the ground, 3 on the tractor 8 on the trailer or combination of trailers.

Good to see the trains reappear on your video Dan as a retired Locomotive driver i find it gives some balance and extra flavour to your segment We haul a lot of those coils on our trains and it is hot rolled coil going to different plants to be reprocessed and coated. We call them Jumbo Coils some are tarped some are not. Good to see the Dorsey sticker inside the cab. All the best Dan. From Peter Marshall in Sydney Australia..

Dan. Under your trailer, look up in between the beams. You can put a piece of heave diamond screen. Bend the back up,. Make it about 8ft 3inches or so. Can put your 4x 4 wood in there make some kind of front door so they can't slide front. Way better the putting them on the dolly legs. I used to keep other stuff there to. Broom, snow shovel. Lader.

That Train was a huge "moving parking lot".... Al to Michigan. Weather change in September. I trained with TMC back in 97. Lots of work. i didn't blow out tires, i even did the 2 hr stops in Arizona on very hot days. my problem, which later i corrected, was not slowing down prior to a long downhill drive. ended up smoking my brakes and having squeaky braking sounds every time i applied the brakes, as the company never fixed the problem. said; "despite the groves in the plates, the shoes were still good." :)

California would probably have a cancer causing warning label for that many axles on a trailer. They must have been hauling a lot of weight!
@Krieghandt4 жыл бұрын
@@RaoulThomas007 Michigan allows up to something like 160,000 lbs for in state transportation, as long as you meet the federal bridge laws. So, a lot of axles. You see it on the forest product trailers as well.
@dominick2534 жыл бұрын
@@Krieghandt 20k per axle I believe.
@Krieghandt4 жыл бұрын
@@dominick253 That's where things get complicated. One state says an axle is an axle, but others say, no, axles in X inches of each other are a tandem set. Then they have different weights for tandems. I watch heavy haulers, and boy oh boy, do they have to deal with bureaucratic details.
@docholiday10344 жыл бұрын
Gotta love those loads Dan👍👍👍. Hope you can axle it 😂😂
@pauljohn66374 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan. Is there a reason the coil was loaded to roll forwards or backwards. Why not turn it 90 degrees , surely it would be safer. The guys regularly loading out of there had their coils loaded that way. Myself I would be pulling a curtain sider, a small weight penalty but much more versatile than a flatbed and open up many options for different loads. The time saved on tarping would pay for the extra purchase price in no time at all.
@tommarshall3334 жыл бұрын
Wow! Those trucks where you delivered the coil, were interesting. All but one of the rigs that passed you while you were outside, removing the tarp, were 4, 5, &6 axles on the trailer. Is that a thing in Michigan or ??????
