I think the referees have benefited the Asian competitor a little.

As usual, the referee and judges want to see "clean" techniques (punches and kicks which are not partly blocked) and don't want to see any contestant go down either because of A REAL INJURY or because the contestant in question TOOK A DIVE. (No wonder the Spectator seats are always empty)
