Idk if someone mentioned this in the comments but the “chocolate” bar is called “Fu” and its a brick of gluten(generally made with a combination flour, rice flour). The Fu is usually soaked in broth or miso soup, and it actually gets very spongy and pleasant. Lol Like Will said(although jokingly) it’s been around since the Edo era(samurai, ninja, all that). And it’s dark from the brown sugar coating, making it a “Fu-Gashi.(Gashi, or Kashi means goodie in Japanese) And it’s very low cal and healthy. I’m half Japanese born and raised here, it’s not the most popular amongst younger generation nowadays but more nostalgic for the older generation. (Mid to late 20s - and beyond) It’s always great to see other cultures learn and enjoy food and culture that I love. Great content.

Prune from prehistoric times is actually a salted dry peach. One of my favorite sour treats. Mochi is pounded rice with a sweet filling. Red bean is my favorite but they have other flavors like taro, matcha green tea, and sesame seed. Yummy

Hi Will, The souffle pancakes typically have the same ingredients as western pancakes .... what makes them airy is how we whisk our eggs. The dried fish snacks you ate was not a "candy". They're like the asian version of jerky ... but with fish/squid. The red thing on your noodles w/ the seed inside was probably a date from what i saw. Loved the new series.
