As a survivor of rape by my older brother when I was 11. I can fully relate to the brothers and how they handled the trauma. For years I had a rage that would burn for a short period and then I would simply mentally push it down and act like a fully normal kid. It's only by the grace of God that I never killed anyone or killed myself.

My mother was molested by her step father at the age of 15…my mother had me at the age of 18. She was young, but very protective and very concerned with my wellbeing at all times. I forget the reasoning, however, she left me with her grandmother for maybe an hour or less to get an errand done. When she returned, she realized her uncle was in the house, and my grandmother had explained that he had recently changed my diaper…after my mother specifically asked all family members to never let ANY males, other than my father, change my diaper. My mother grabbed a knife and confronted her uncle and continuously asked him if he had touched me inappropriately. She immediately took me home and blew up on my great grandmother. You have to understand…trauma will make anyone crazy and will fuel something in them that others who haven’t endured that trauma, could ever understand. I am so grateful for the mother I was blessed with. She didn’t deserve what happened to her…but I will say, it instilled a protection over my brother and I that I will always appreciate. The system failed these boys. Without a doubt.

My mother was the same way with me because males got to her at 4yrs old while her mother would go out run errands. Growing up my mother was very protective of me and I can't thank God enough of how happy I am to have that protection but I wish my mother didn't have to go through that experience. I understand some people have to in order to know how the world of men are regardless if they are your father or not.

My "father" physically, psychologically, mentally and verbally abused me, my 4 siblings and our mother. From ages 4-12, he sexually abused me. He stopped sexually abusing me when I grew big enough to fight him off. It's during this time I suspect he began sexually abusing one of my sisters, who has become a transgender male. People have no idea how traumatizing it is to divulge this abuse, only to be told what was said to me by my mom when at age 12, I finally told her about the abuse. Her response was "get out of here you liar ". This was as devastating as the sexual abuse. This kind of abuse wounds the spirit, soul and mind. It does horrible, horrible damage. I believe these brothers. They had every right to unalive any monster who abused them in this way. If the mother knew, as mine and millions of other mothers do, but turn a blind eye in denial, the mother is just as guilty.

Psychologist here: The black respected lady in pink suit has no clue about how trauma works and the outcomes of it. They keep treating these boys as if they were not traumatized; speaking of how and what should they have done almost dismissing their traumas which led to the killings. Also, individuals are different some might stay frozen and in denial for years and years, to the point that traumatic events can be only recalled with hypnosis, some develop psychological conditions that are severe like Borderline personality disorder to name one, some flee, and some like the brothers fight, and even the fighting is different for everyone. One can't apply value judgement or moral judgement on traumatic responses. And one can not treat a traumtized person with the standards of what "I would do in such a case" while one is sitting comfortably in the couch having no clue about the absolute horror, mind-bending, soul wrenching terror that such trauma induces. This case was not your classical self defense case, and it shouldnt be tried as such. The trauma and sexual abuse happened in closed doors, in the most intimate space one has: their room and in the shower. It is obvious that they could never apply "self defense" once alone only with him even if they were physically stronger than him, trauma doesnt allow that. So, they found out an opportunity when they were together and not compromised in a 1:1 situation with him. This is their self defense case, shooting him when he is not overpowering them, when they are not isolated alone with this big man with their face smashed on the pillow while he rapes them. This is their self defense.

What type person refuses to see even after knowing all the facts, and he well knew the facts from the start even if the public didn't. Yet he remains defiant like a Catholic Priest does. Perps never feel they've done anything wrong. It wasn't the money, because there was none left to get, and there is none left for the brothers when they get out. I was sexually abused most of my childhood by an older male cousin. And I'm a male. I told my multiple family members and no one believed me and they literally acted like they didn't hear me or act like I never told them or that I'm making it up. They still continued to invite that cousin to family functions and that I was at and never ever had my back or said anything about it. I literally feel some days that maybe it didn't happen and maybe I'm making it up in my head. But I know for a fact it happened at have very very vivid memories of it. But still to this day no one believes me or has done anything. And it's one of the main reasons I've had a horrible opioid addiction my whole life and have attempted suicide multiple times. I feel for these brothers and for everyone who was SA by a close family member or by anyone period. 20 years later Im still haunted by it.

I read your comment. I believe you. What you described about doubting your memory is known as gaslighting. I hope you are doing better and can overcome your addiction. You deserve to live a happier, peaceful life. Suicide is not the answer. You didn't abuse anyone and shouldn't punish yourself. You are innocent. For your own mental well-being it would be best to avoid , if possible, family gatherings where that cousin is likely to be. Also I think it might be beneficial for you if you got some sort of counselling. Best wishes for your future. ❤

This is why this is so believable to me. I was sexually abused by my father ages 4-9. My mother blamed me for it so badly I decided to pretend I didn’t remember the abuse. I kept the secret for 35 years. Until one day an astute friend asked me why I talked about how much I hated my mother but I never mentioned my father. I was shaking so badly while I told her the truth. I wrote a blog post about how hard it was to keep secrets and maybe if I hadn’t been keeping this big family secret it would be easier. One of my aunts saw the post and sent my other aunt to talk to me. Turns out my father did the same thing to her and MY MOTHER KNEW ABOUT IT. She said my mother was angry with her. Which means my mother knew my father was a pedophile BEFORE she married him, married him anyway, and had daughters with him. Mothers do this. They need to keep that man so much they will sacrifice their own children to do it.

My nephew snapped and had enough. His beloved mother died a horrendous death after decades of misery. While I don't condone such violent behavior, I empathize with my nephew's lifetime of pain due to his father's alcoholism and wicked violence. My father harmed both my sister and brother, though you’d never know-he didn’t seem like "the type." My sister coped by always being the "funny one," likely unable to face the truth even now. My brother, at 54, finally told me what happened, but I already knew. He chose not to confront our father, fearing it might cause more harm. He seems emotionally stuck, still seeking love, though I don’t know his exact condition.Unlike my sister, I can’t disconnect/disassociate from what happened. I remember everything, which has led to severe depression, PTSD, and hospitalization. When my brother told our devout Christian mother and stepfather, they simply told him to "get over it." I received the same response when I defended him. They don’t seem like "the type" to treat their children this way-they’ve fooled all their church friends. On the surface, these adults appeared decent, but in reality, they were all monsters. When I hear about the Menendez brothers, I do believe it did happen. Acting like everything was normal after the tragedy doesn’t surprise me. It’s similar to my sister going to school the next day, pretending everything was fine. My brother did the same. I was the one who cut ties and dealt with the depression. It is very complicated and the people that harm children are the people you will least expect. They never seem like "the type."

In full support of the Menendez brothers. Thankfully their Lawyer is taking up the case and new evidence has come to light, although with the evidence that the State had available to them in both the previous trials was enough to NOT convict the Menendez brothers. There was ample evidence and testimony by family members. Awareness of Child Abuse by family members was grossly lacking. Hoping the Brothers get a fair trial this time. Everyone who has been through a similar situation and has taken the time to write their story HAS made a huge contribution already towards bringing awareness of this grievance towards children. Their explanations of abuse do not explain why they shot the mother 15 times. They already had a fair trial. The parents were UNARMED when the sons killed them. The alleged past abuse is not a legal self-defense argument. The abuse is a one sided story. If the abuse accusations are true one could argue it was consensual and they liked it since they kept living there after they turned adults.

@@misskay8131 Lyle did ask specific people to lie for him. Those being two of his ex girlfriends and one of Erik's friends. However much of that comes from long before the first trial started and one of them who testified for the prosecution did say that Lyle had called him during the first trial and told him to drop everything. In one of these letters he sent to Erik's friend he insinuates that his lawyers have no idea and that Erik would rat him out and that's exactly what happened. This witness never testified during the first trial because Erik had told his lawyers that the persons story wasn't true. Lyle certainly made some bad decisions while in jail (since he never wanted to talk about the abuse) but that doesn't mean their defense was fabricated. None of those people were ever asked to lie about abuse and if this was such a common thing you'd fully expect to see a whole lot people coming out and saying "Lyle asked me to lie for him" but no one else ever has. You don't have to take him at his word but Lyle has said he only did this prior to agreeing to talk about the abuse himself. According to him, his lawyers and his family he was refusing to testify about the abuse for a very long time.

Yes, I'm dealing with an abuser now. And it's like he's the author of a play that has become our lives. He gaslights the Police, the Court, soon it will be the turn of the Prosecuting Attorney, and they are all characters in his play. They accept the gaslighting, which generates the story, the play being written (as our lives). I'm still reeeling because I realized that truth is impossible. Only the story, the narrative, the play is possible. And if you now speak the truth, it will be called a lie. Even direct evidence is dismissed before it is properly considered because it contradicts the play's narrative. It's all about the dominant discourse.

A wealthy married lady here in California killed 2 little boys in a crosswalk with her Mercedes. Her car badly damaged from the accident where she had just come from the bar with her lover. Her daughter and husband denied she killed them! 😂🤯 Relatives defend their guilty relatives all the time. The world is filled with liars.

The prosecutor literally said that Jose's death was a gift to humanity. How she couldn't find one character witness and people only had horrible stories about him. The brothers had 30+ witnesses on their side. There's a reason they only got a conviction on the second trial after they removed most witnesses, evidence and testimonies of the abuse. Even though their family confirmed.

There were other young men who also reported that he had molested them. I believe the boys. Their responses are so typical of having been molested. The shame and embarrassment will do it every time. They didn't want anyone to know. That is also why they didn't mention it immediately. I would be suspicious if they had been talking about it to everyone, that would be atypical behavior.

The family members evidence was enough to know what was happening behind the scenes. Also the band members testimony should have been considered. Seeing that man tear up was heartbreaking. No child deserves any form of abuse and given that it started at an early age, I can imagine how much they had bottled in. I hope they find the justice they deserve.

It's so insane to me that all of these people say, "I never saw anything bad happen in that home." First of all, you didn't live in the home. Second of all, do you think Jose was going to just expose himself and tell everyone he was abusing his sons? Those boys were probably scared to tell people. It's so sad.

How can a parent do such to their own kids, the hurt and devastation that trails behind completely annihilates and changes that persons trajectory for life. You are all so strong! @cjking4511
@cjking4511 9 ай бұрын
Hold up. Just because Ricky did not speak up does not mean he was abused by Jose Menendez. There is a timeline difference of when Jose was managing that group and when Ricky joined the music group act. Sometimes predators do not go after the main star because they are too famous or the main star is being abused by someone above Jose's level so Jose might have backed off if Ricky's abuser was Jose's boss, etc. Also, it is Ricky's story to tell when Ricky is ready to since Ricky would have been an abuse victim. Jose was a salaried employee so perhaps they need to investigate Jose's bosses when it comes to Ricky.

@@cjking4511 I never said he was abused by Jose Menedez but he was definitely abused when he was in Menudo just like Roy was, which was my point, he was seen dressed up as a girl alone in the managers hotel room when he was a little boy, there are plenty of documentaries and reputable sources that you can look into it you wish to, it is his story to tell, just like its my opinion that I wish he would speak up about what happened to him by grown men that ran in the same circles such as his manager and Jose Menendez!
