I wanted to cry when they decided to turn right with 4x4 on. You can just hear the tires chirping
@zoeyredmond55014 жыл бұрын
Armando Sturzenegger he thinks the differentials are locked in 4x4 mode causing one tire to skid during a turn but I’m fairly certain the tundra has limited slip differentials preventing this but I could be wrong.
@evilamc19624 жыл бұрын
Zoey Redmond my last truck was a 2010 and it would lock right up if I trying turning on dry pavement while turning. Say I was turning right my rear right tire would start chirping
@zoeyredmond55014 жыл бұрын
Evil AMC ah ok, I thought there was a button you had to push to lock the diff even in 4x4, my mistake.
@theinternets75164 жыл бұрын
@@zoeyredmond5501, In 4x4 the center diff is locked. The front and rear are open. You should never drive on dry pavement with a true 4x4 system engaged. AWD is okay because the center diff isn't locked in AWD.
@SamSam-ke9zy4 жыл бұрын
@@theinternets7516 By center diff I'm pretty sure you mean front and rear drive shafts. @Evil AMC The differentials are still open, the drive shafts are locked so the tire chirping is from a front wheel not moving the same speed as a rear wheel. Not form one front wheel moving faster than the other front wheel.

open differentials using the brake system to instead of clutches within the differentials. Easier maintenance instead of tearing apart your diffs every 30k to 40k miles and replacing clutch packs. I like it. I think they should have used torsen differentials and the brake system.

I don't understand... What is the difference between auto lsd and traction control?
@John-uj9zy5 жыл бұрын
@@DJ-du4tq Auto LSD is at its core just another form of traction control. The brakes are used to stop the wheel that's spinning in order to send power to the stationary wheel. It's not at strong as traditional LSD. Unlike mechanical LSD the Auto LSD has to loose traction in order for power transfer to occur. That is why the wheel spins for a second or so before power is transferred. Someone chime in if I got that wrong. A regular LSD need major maintenance every 75k-150K miles. This traction controlled open diff system could easily last for 200k.

So if traction control is off and your in 4x4 atrac is automatic
@williamcrews15257 жыл бұрын
Yes, LSD is for 2WD and atrac works in 4WD. But, in 2WD, you have to choose atrac (no action req'd, atrac w/Auto LSD push atrac button once or no atrac w/auto LSD engaged push and hold atrac button for 3 seconds or more). In 4WD atrac takes over and this allows the computer to monitor all 4 wheels and apply more/less power or more/less brake to the appropriate wheel. It's really not a bad system. People who don't like it usually prefer lockers or mechanical LSD systems for their peace of mind or just because that's what they know. If a stock Tundra Pro with the exact same system shown in the video, just upgraded suspension, can do Hell's Revenge with this system, I'm gonna say it's a fairly capable system. I've had two Tundras now and the system works as advertised. I may put an air locker in my rear differential but, just because I do occasional off-roading where the hesitation of atrac can be the difference between making a really tough/technical trail or not.

it would seem to me with the research that I have done the axel is truly locked in 4x4 and there are at 2 wires going to the diff so I think that its an e-locker, if anybody who has actual knowledge of the diff and possibly has taken apart the Diff could you confirm that. please for the love of christ do not just say that it is a auto lsd and and an open diff without somehow explaining how that works with the wheels not spinning in 4x4 and they do in 2x4 even with the A-LSD turned on. if it is an e-locker is it possible to rig up a button to 24v or 12v to actuate it in 2x4 for better dirt drifting or other offroad/burnout uses?
