Yay! Fits with what I've learned. I've been told to avoid artificial sweeteners all together because they just confuse your endocrine system (hormones). Your body gets ready for sweets but then no sweets come. WTF?! My mom always drank her coffee black and I've been searching for a really good coffee I can enjoy black. If I have to sweeten it, I lose.

Hi! I'm a Registered Dietitian (and mom, hehe!) with a Master's degree in Human Nutrition. I love coffee too! And yes, I use raw sugar (1 packet has 20 calories & 5 gms Carbs). I treat myself to a Starbucks latte every once in awhile too. I don't think it's effective to throw around terms like "insulin resistance" and "lipolysis" without context and looking at the bigger picture. Anything in excess is not always good. Excessive fructose intake can lead to de novo lipogenesis as you mentioned. Key word "EXCESSIVE". So, adding in a little sweetener into your coffee is not going to make a significant impact on your insulin response, fat storage, or weight loss goals. Your body is doing it's job by releasing insulin in response to carbohydrate intake. You can consume carbohydrates and also lose weight at the same time if that's your goal. It's all about moderation and type, but some simple carbohydrates in your diet is ok! Depriving yourself is not something I recommend to anyone. It's not effective. You really have to look at the individuals diet in its entirety as well as other components of their health and lifestyle. Thx!!
@gsrp24223 жыл бұрын
Very well said. 100% agree. I've seen many people not reach their weight loss goals because of complete depravity of certain foods. If you can do it then great, but for many, it only makes you want what "you can't have" even more of a desire and eventually a binge happens. I myself, lost 35lbs after I learned to have a healthy balance in my diet which included sweets , in moderation.
@nourishedmotherhood63813 жыл бұрын
@@gsrp2422 Thank you! Yes, if I'm depriving myself of something then I definitely want it 10x more, so I overeat. That's awesome you found a happy balance and were able to lose weight without severely restricting your diet and being miserable. I'm all for EVERYTHING in moderation! :)

I try to keep the use of those zero calorie sweeteners strickly during my meals, and not during the periods when I'm not eating. While I don't rely too heavily on the sweet things. In fact, I haven't been craving sweets or carbs during my long 12-14 fasting work day. But, Sometimes it's nice to have a diet cola here and there.
