When I started scanning creatures I'd only get like 3000 units, I was like "whaa" oh, there's no scanner modules because I hadn't really replaced anything on it after the tech reset in Next. I honestly prefer having cuboid rooms inside freighters, as it gives so much more freedom and control over what we have now. Most importantly - you can have taller ceilings with those, nowdays you're very limited in the room height.
@jmanna56502 жыл бұрын
I wish we could go back to using the base building components for freighters. There is so much I cannot do in freighters and it's...glitchy. Something happened in the last update and now there is a huge gap between two pieces in a large room I built. I can see through to space. Additionally if you try to move an individual item everything on that room piece deletes. (Many bad words were said when I discovered this). Then there's the ongoing stuff: things don't snap properly. You can't turn snapping on or off. You can build several floors up with ramps and stairs but I can't have a room with a high ceiling. I want to build a room for casual socialization (like Ten Forward) but can't because I can't get anything to actually sit on shelves. So no bar. It just makes freight building seem like a clunky afterthought. I get that they want folks to build these big cool bases but I use my freighter way more than a planetary base. It's just how I like to play. (Can't take the sky from me.)

These are pretty fascinating and I appreciate your observations and obvious labor put into making these videos. My question is what exactly happened to those bases? After the update did it just vanish? If you were outside your base and it updated would you log on to nothing there?
@Kanaju2 жыл бұрын
Yep! Kind of. Players with those original bases were given an exclusive Base Restoration quest. Habitable Bases still technically exist within the game as lone base computers out in the wild. They exist solely to serve those players with the restoration quest. Once you find a location you like, you can restore your previous base to this new location. I haven't completed it myself, but I think it replaces the base core room with a regular cylindrical room. I don't recall off the top of my head. I was thinking of finally completing it after all these years in order to make a video on it! lol Thanks for asking!

@Kanaju2 жыл бұрын
I think I was referring to players who stick to space for hours at a time without landing on any planets. The only place in space you could use a save beacon is on a freighter. It would be convenient to have them within space stations too since you can't teleport directly to your freighter the way you can a space station. For regular planetary explorers though it's really a non-issue.

They still exist in that there are base computers out in the wild waiting for you to find and claim. I prefer trying to use them because the area is flattened just like the old days which is great for building a base on. Some people somehow are good at spotting these flat areas when flying by too. But I'm not so lucky so I write a mod which adds the waypoint markers on them and will help it come up on scans too (which I do when hunting for them lol). I think the signal booster (another lost feature in the game you could say) can find them sometimes when you're close to them too even without the mod. But that's another thing that is missing from the current game that we used to have - we had ways to find habitable base locations.

I wonder why the devs just simple erased to "improve" instead of keeping all generations aspects. Laziness? Why turn EVERY abandoned space station into pirate controlled? It gets boring very quickly. I'm so sad with NMS that I can't even play anymore and I was very addicted to the game. Biomes needs changes like multiple biomes in one planet and multiple stellar resources. Systems as well. Why not design an unique hyperdrive to the solar ships that can access rare systems or galaxies with different buildings and stuff? And last but not least, why not keep the emergence expedition content with cursed systems?! I'm very disappointed and btw, who da f** asked for a living frigate?! Sad.

I hear you, but small correction: they didn't turn every abandoned station into pirate-controlled. I recorded the abandoned station footage for this video on Thursday.
