📲 Our Pick Up Limes app is finally here (1-week free trial!): bit.ly/PUL_app 🎉 Did you see what happened at 0:44? Sooo here’s the thing: I like to take strategic bites of my oatmeal, getting a bit of each topping onto the spoon, but sir Robin just mixes everything together from the get-go. Whaaa!? I think he’s a bit crazy… but maybe I’m the one that’s crazy? Which camp are you in? Strategic bites, or the mix-and-swirl?

My go to meals during a week for a busy single mom of two teenagers is rainbow veggie stew with no oil. Another meal is curry with also lots of veggies, spices and served with either quinoa or brown rice and for breakfast i make no oil oatmeal pancakes with banana and fresh berries. Bon Appetite ❤️

I'm a teen and I want to adopt a plant-based diet really soon -- I don't know how to cook but my mum said she'll help me and she's fine with me becoming plant-based. But recently she said she wants me to become vegetarian first because though I already BARELY eat meat (only sausages and pepperoni/salami, which is less than once a week. I don't like most meat) and dairy (except butter and cheese, but I don't drink milk or yoghurt b/c I don't like most dairy), I'm not eating much veg because I don't like many either. So I'm probably deficient in vitamins and minerals already, and my mum wants me to get used to being a healthy vegetarian before becoming plant-based. I have started eating more fruit, though [3 per day, because before I ate none b/c I'd always not eat them for some reason, though I've always loved fruit] I have Asperger's Syndrome which makes me hypersensitive to some textures and tastes in food [they make me gag often]. Which is why I don't like so many "normal" foods. My point is, how can I become plant-based? I really want to because of the meat and dairy industries as well as my health and the environment, and I hate how I have to make myself eat cheese and non-vegan foods still and actively shift my newly-found information to the back of my mind because there is nothing vegan that I can prepare other than fruits. Would anyone even see this oml I'm just pouring out my mind
@mommyandmethings52056 жыл бұрын
Just start slow. Try new veggies and fruits every week. And if you only find a few days worth plant based meals you like then that's ok. Just keep eating them and keep trying new foods. Personally i like fresh veggies better over cooked. :)
@pinkstarrose97076 жыл бұрын
Maybe try juicing vegetables to get more in your diet.
@adriannaalejo63586 жыл бұрын
Depending on what textures you are sensitive to, I’d start there. For example, if soft fruits and vegetables bother you I’d go for ones that are more dense or crunchy! Like apples, raw vegetables, etc. You can also bake some vegetables like potatoes to make them crunchy. The same goes if it’s hard foods that bother you, you can always cook to adjust the texture! And for the taste part, most plant-based food is easy to adjust to your own taste by using different spices and sauces so I would just experiment for what’s good for you. ALSO, I don’t think there is anything wrong with going vegetarian before going vegan. That’s what I did too :)

What textures do you find gross? What do you find good? If you can't bear crunchy stuff, try a tonne of smoothies! Add vegetables like beetroots, spinach and cauliflower, add frozen-berries, bananas, soy-yogurt (better than soy milk because probiotics) and oats, and for the fats, add some nut or seed butter, chia seeds and flax seeds, blend for quite a while (to break down and emulsify the funky textures into a smooth, creamy beverage) and drink up! If you find smooth and soft foods nasty, try foods in their natural form. Try fruit salads including apples, fresh berries and other fruits that you like. Or try and have more sandwiches with cucumbers and zucchini and pickles and toasted whole-wheat or rye (sounds weird, but tastes mighty fine). Nature offers a vast expanse of food choices, find out what you prefer and include it slowly into your diet!

I made the roasted cauliflower lentil curry this week and am in love - as I work to revise our recipe rotation to include more low-sugar low-carb (pre-diabetic symptoms & family history) recipes this is definitely going into rotation, along with one of your red lentil recipes. Your Coconut Paprika Zucchini Soup was amazing too, especially after I strained it to make it restaurant quality smooth (my dog loved the pulp/skin), but unfortunately it triggered my heart burn so I'll save it for special occasions I think I found your channel when my daughter was going off to college & brainstorming breakfasts she could make in the dorm but have found a breadth & depth of content way beyond breakfast that strike a cord with where I am in life - meditation, journaling, cooking more healthfully, etc. thanks for introducing me to so many great recipes already
