Welcome back to the "common mistakes series." In this video I'm gonna show you the 5 mistakes you're making with the kettlebell clean.
And how to overcome them.
The kettlebell clean is the "red-headed step-child" of the kettlebell world.
It's often over looked for the sexier kettlebell exercises like the swing, getup, snatch, and jerk.
But here's the TRUTH.
If you don't have a solid -- and efficient -- kettlebell clean...
... you're not gonna have a solid press, squat, push-press, or jerk.
You press is only as good as the clean which comes before it.
Let's break it down:
00:00 Intro
03:05 Mistake #1
11:35 Mistake #2
18:40 Mistake #3
23:20 Mistake #4
26:45 Mistake #5
If you're looking for a proven program -- centered around the kettlebell clean -- to help you get in shape in less than 45 minutes per week, checkout our free program, "The Russian Bear" inside our eBook.

The "lead with your elbow" cue totally changed my clean and no longer impacted my arm/elbow in a negative way. Very helpful.

Been struggling for ages with getting the proper form for putting the bell down from the rack position. This was the BEST explanation. Thank you!

Right on bro! Glad it was helpful. The clean took me 2 years get it down. And to really understand the mechanics. The one of the "simplest" of the 6 exercises. But definitely the hardest to master--IMO. It's more of a finesse exercise compared to the other ballistics. Appreciate you watching.

This is the best video I've found to understand the subtleties with the KB Clean, and I think I've watched them all, in English and Spanish speaking KZbin channels. Thanks for the slow-motion camera, it really helped seeing the movement of the elbow.

Oh that mistake #1 hit me hard (pun intended). I’ve had bruises in my upper and forearm, both sides 😂 that “leading with the elbow” is now my mantra when doing cleans.

Nice! Very Nice ! In fact it’s perfect. Perfect demonstration. It’s the only instructional I’ve found that addresses the critical nuances of this move and the mother video showing the nuances of the TGU

Hey, Hector. I've lifted with barbells for many years, but recently my 14yo son wanted to start getting strong, and I decided to start him with kettlebells to help him build some strength before trying to learn the barbell lifts. So we're both new to kettlebells and are running Atos 1.0 right now. Just wanted to say that these videos are solid gold. Thanks so much. BTW, we used to live in Houston so I feel ya on the Texas heat! :-)

Honestly the best tutorial i've seen so far. very informative very direct to the point. it shows the experience you've accumulated throughout the years... really really thank you. for me it is leading with the elbow and the quick hand that is the key to a "clean" clean.

I had a question about your ATOS program. I'm fading at the presses(but strong on the other movements) Should I grind it out and go to failure or just do what I can and cut the presses short

Hey Nick. Great to hear from ya. Option one: move down a bell size so you can own the entire complex-this’ll take swallowing the ego a little. If that’s not available to you. Option 2: Yep, complete what you can on the press and finish the complex. Hope this helps.

@@thekettlebellcoach thanks! I have a 16kg and a 24kg. 16 is too easy. I'll keep on the 24 and just do what I can with pressing
