I like to use 2 bobber stops with Texas rig. One above and one below the weight. This way a weighted Texas rig can become a Mojo rig by sliding the weight up the line. Thanks for the help.

Loving the quick tip videos. I wish you would do one explaining all the different types of hooks and when to use the different ones. I get so confused hook shopping and I see 50 different kinds and 10 different sizes of hooks! I usually just buy something that looks reasonable and hope it's right.

Caught my PB on a Texas rigged weightless Senko Watermelon w/blk/red flake. The bass weighed 6lbs 10oz. I Also caught one this last year that was 6 1/2 lbs. Same setup but through it in a patch of huge Lily pads. Caught it when I was kayak fishing. The fish pulled me into the pads and the entire fight took place in the Lily's.

To improve on example 10 I take a CPS medium spring (hook spring is what I call it) and put it in the nose of a senko or a zoom speed worm or a fluke. Then put a drop shot hook with a weed guard through the nose, through the opening on the hook spring, and the way there is more mass attached to the hook via the spring. It works WONDERS!
@wxniner227 жыл бұрын
When the nose hook method is used I've ran a tooth pick right above hook and cut off either end to keep it from tearing off. Just a different approach you could use.

You could just texas rig it and jerk it back like a fluke instead of nose hooking... that's how I rig flukes and it would work fine with senkos. Unless you're using a large 5/0 hook, you don't lose much of the "shimmy" on the fall.

I've been using an O-Ring just in front of the hook when nose hooking since I have the wacky-o tool with me anyways. Sometimes you'll have to find a smaller size ring because of the taper at the head of the worm though.

Brown Trout LOVE ned rigs and drop shots. Haven't caught a Bass on a Senko yet though. Most of the Bass I caught were on inline spinners and Shad Raps. Someone should tell the fish that they're bass akwards. One of my favorite rigs for muddy water is a modified high/low rig. Instead of a dropshot weight or a caster, I use a craw jig. On the dropper loops, I use live nightcrawlers and Senkos. The Browns love it. They devour it before the Bass get a chance.

Excellent... Is the Neko rig something to try when the fishing is tough and bass are holding close to cover? Sometimes it feels like you need to smack them in the head with your bait before they will hit it. The Neko rig may help get the bait to them when they are holding close to cover and where they don't always see baits go.

Hey Gene and Ryan: The great EWG vs SS debate you touched on: I think you said/agreed that the EWG through-then-back hidden hook point reveals with LESS fish force than does the straight shank in-not-through hidden hook point? If so, does it not stand to reason that the former (EWG...) will more easily CATCH fish than the latter (SS...)?

Love the videos, lots of good straight forward info from fishermen that know how to present it. One thing I would suggest is to use a lighter background, like a white t-shirt or lay the bait on the table. It's difficult to see how the bait , hook and weight all come together, especially on #10 how the tape was applied to the hook head. Keep the videos come and fish on fisher.

Instead of a traditional way of tying a Carolina rig with a swivel and beads and all that, I just weightless Texas rig my soft plastic and then use a bullet weights rubber grip sinker about 16in or so up the line. It works fine for me and takes seconds to tie/rig.

Do freshwater guys call something else a circle hook? Because the circle hooks we use in saltwater stuff does not work, at all, if you set the hook. They also don't work on moving baits. So, I'm confused as to why you'd use one on something that you're going to fish like a jerkbait.
@NoHandsAndy7 жыл бұрын
solesolace i was wondering the same thing. a circle hook is not a "set the hook" style hook so idk how a jerkbait could even be used with that.
@50chevydan7 жыл бұрын
solesolace he is probably referring to an octopus style hook. A true circle hook is for trot lines or jug fishing to set the hook.

For the last rigging method, why don't you just use a small screw lock screwed in and then crimped so the screw lock wont come out. That has to be a better way than jacking around with tape.

FishingFools, adding a small strip of tape around the nose will make it last longer. In my experience, fishing it nose hooked gives it much more wiggle on the fall and the hook up ratio goes way up. To me, at $1/Senko, it is worth it to catch one fish and have to re-rig. It is such a deadly technique that I can't put a price on it. Gary nose hooks all of his soft plastics because of the hook up and land ratios being through the roof. It basically boils down to what is more important to you and what you have confidence in. Good luck, guys.
