Russell Westbrook they actually do. Why do you think every time Cleveland makes some movement with players, the media immediately throws out the question “Can the Cavaliers win it all this year after this move?” On every sports show in existence. And every time LeBron does something they ask “Is LeBron gonna be better than Michael Jordan?” They want LeBron to be the most invincible and untouchable player ever and every other team will come along, Shut the conversation down and then they will make a different excuse every time.

well ok yeah its balancing it out... same way with wilt, but it's kinda stupid they didn't allow zone defense in the first place... like its basketball you can shoot from anywhere on the opposing end i get it in like hockey with the 1-3-1 zone thats just simply anti-game, but in bball its not

Great video! What about "the Kareem rule?" Back in the early 80's, Red Auerbach (who was Celtics' GM at the time) complained to the League that Jabbar would win every tip-off at the start of each quarter, and consequently, the League changed it to where the team that didn't win the opening tip, started the 2nd and 3rd quarter with the ball, while the team that won the opening tip would start the 4th with the ball in their posession.

1 on 1 and without dirty plays, rodman can't stop shaq. out of 16 games, there was only that 1 notable game where shaq scored only 7 points, and that was from double team and dirty plays the bad boy pistons are known to be doing. other than that, out of their 15 other meetings, there were only 2 games where shaq scored below 20 (17 points). on average, shaq has about 27 points against rodman

Wilt changed the offensive goaltending rules also. His first few years in the league you could dunk/tip-in missed shots that were still above the cylinder, and you could redirect a missed shot by a teammate into the basket while it was on the way down.

I can't believe George Mikan didn't make the list. He was the reason for banning goaltending (for showing that it was physically possible if you were freakishly tall and good at jumping), the introduction of the shot clock (because he scared the Pistons so much that they just held the ball for an entire game to win 19-18), and even the widening of the lane to give other people a chance in the paint. He was the *original* big-man, like Wilt Chamberlain but at the inception of the league.

That feeling when you're in My Career mode, you set a great pick, both defenders get stuck on the ball handler, and you roll to the hoop alone getting ready for a easy dunk. You press pass a 100 times, the dude refuses to pass, then you get a stuck in some animation and offensive 3 second turn over. SIGH PASS THE BALL COMPUTER.

jordan was a fadeaway not a fade into. his aerial acrobatics were to avoid defenders the bulk of the time not run into them on purpose. he'd be more guilty of the leg kick (one leg usually) than wade's blatant push off style. bird had it because he couldn't jump and most defenders could so he'd end up shooting around them and still making the shot.

In terms of the Dwayne Wade thing, I feel like it's OK simply because it's an exploit of bad defense. If the defender isn't disciplined enough to know not to jump then they should pay for it. Now, this is just my opinion so please no hate, let's have a calm debate if you feel otherwise.

If he continues to play the way he does ATM we don't need to fear. Just let him shoot from behind the midline and be happy yith his 10 % hitrate and in turn score twice as much from the rebounds while he is NOT defending against his counterpart. No really he is very talented, but he needs to get a trainer who forces him to get rid of those bad habbits.

The removal of the hand check opened the offensive flood gates for smaller players, while simultaneously sounding the end of the center. Today's NBA is based more around skills and athleticism. Rather than simply being larger than the other player.

"So a few years ago, Im watching the Pistons beat the Lakers in the Finals. I’m seeing Larry Brown’s Pistons fully take advantage of the rules. It was impossible to stay in front of Kobe. He could get anywhere he wanted on the court. The Pistons knew it as well. So every time he tried to get to the basket, they would body up and bump him. The officials did just as they were supposed to. Since Kobe had the advantage on the defender, they didn’t call a foul. However that little bump slowed Kobe down just enough that it gave Ben Wallace a split second more to on a pre rotation to the Paint, to be in a better position to defend the basket. Kobe still scored, but not quite as often as he may have otherwise. " ... "After the finals, I sat down with the league and discussed with them the difference between player and team advantage. The discussion lead to changing the rules so that perimeter contact was called far more often." Mark Cuban is responsible for bringing the change to the "Clear Path Foul" And then: "The NBA eliminated all forms of hand-checking before the 2004-2005 season. The rule was intended to give offensive players more freedom, but has given offensive players an unfair advantage. -Mark Cuban and his lame ideas..

I understand that they have to let some travels go, because if they called every one each team would have 5-10 more turnovers per game and the games would be longer, but some of the missed travels are just bad. They def need to be calling it more than they do now. In the last 2 mins, they shouldn't be letting any travels go.

Agree with the pump fake that needs to be changed, the defense shouldn't pick up silly fouls because the shooter jumps up and essentially into the defense as the shooter caused the initial contact.
@R2theawesomeJ
@R2theawesomeJ 6 жыл бұрын
jbrdbr111 I disagree. If a player pump fakes then jumps TOWARDS the defender, I feel that should be a foul. It shouldn't be a foul if they jump straight up though, big men in the paint do and that nobody questions it.
@KMaserati
@KMaserati 6 жыл бұрын
jbrdbr111 what's the point of the pump fake then? The whole point is to get the defender out of position to draw a foul. Thats why a great pump fake is a weapon. That's where defensive iq comes in and why you're taught to stay on the ground. You want to take away a fundamental part of the game because players are too dumb to not jump until the offensive player has jumped?

I think in about 5 years the 3 second rule is not used anymore because, in todays nba big men are starting to shoot more threes and mid-range jumpers, so the defending center or power forward needs to stay with his man. Examples of wich centers i'm talking about KARL ANTHONY TOWNS, DEMARCUS COUSINS, JOEL EMBIID and the list keeps going. In five years (i think) every center can shoot

The hand-check rule and the Charles Barkley rule is nothing but people being haters. I mean come on just think about it seriously. These were attributes or ideas that players came up with to make their game unique or to make the game easier for themselves personally in the league said hey we're going to make rules or change rules because of these things that you guys are doing even the Reggie Miller thing okay he's kicking his foot out to create to initiate contact. But that's his little thing that's his thing it wasn't a rule against it but then when he start doing it and other players caught on to it and it's like all we going to wait till 2012 all late and wrong to want to change it
@arsonhakobyan
@arsonhakobyan 6 жыл бұрын
And the thing also is, while many tried to copy Reggie Miller's spread legs, so few did it w/ any consistent success. There was no reason whatsoever for the flop rules put in in 12'. Flopping is part of the natural fabric of the game as much as shooting, dribbling, passing, stealing or blocking. It spices it up!

George Mikan and the Mirkan rule. Because of Mirkan, the NBA widened the foul lane, introduced the goaltending rule, and the shot clock. Before Mirkan, the foul lane was only six feet wide, and it looked like a keyhole, hence calling it, the key. The NBA had to widen it to twelve feet, because Mirkan was dominating boys under the basket. I'm not sure about this last one, but I think the three second rules were introduced because of George Mikan. I don't think any player in history has influenced the rules in basketball more, than George Mirkan. He played a huge part in shaping the game the way we see it today.
