What also makes Yan so good, is his ability to put pressure on his opponents. He's able to do that a lot more safely because his defense is on point, eventhough he's pressuring is opponents his guard is always up so that he doesn't get countered

I think his guard is what enables him to keep pressure while being a precision striker, hes always in range while being defensively responsible. snipers usually fight from the out side so it makes his style interesting

I'm glad you did this, one of the fighters I mainly base my style on because he sticks to the important things so well. What I also noticed is how he uses his shell offensively; he shells up, making the opponent drop their guard a bit or step in to attack, when he simultaneously steps in and throws bombs. Really worked well in sparring for me so far, too.

Petr Yan got very very good at the basics and now they look advanced as hell with the way he blends them and changes mid-fight. This is why I was stoked as hell to hear rumors of him potentially linking up with the Lomachenko camp. Imagine Petr Yan's clean striking fundamentals enhanced by the bottomless reservoir of technique of the Papachenko-coached stable.

In the same boat as you. I like to mix both of their styles for maximum effectiveness in terms of striking and closing distance. I also mix in Poirier’s defense as a solid guard when I’m in close range. Just learn from many to create your own style imo
@javiergutierrezluna33152 жыл бұрын
I think something else that makes Petr so good is that he takes his time to collect his opponent's timing and rhythm. You'll see him lose the first round to have a feel for his opponents like he did against Aljo and Corey, but eventually he begins to become more aggressive in the second or third round. Plus, his defense is always on point so that's what allows him to take his time and not rush in.

8:08 if you compare Yan defense vs Poirier defense which you think works best for mma, the problem with both hand sup is you will for sure get your head rocked even if you guard, I see Yan and Justin gaethje use this and I can't see their careers going on for too long, but Dustin Poirier defense I see it as more dynamic and effective in evading the punches and also in allowing your head not to be shocked all e time from all those punches, the proper defense in mma is really an interesting topic as most mma fighters lack a solid defense they have so much space the default defense is to step. Back but Dustin does. A great job of rolling with the punches and using his elbow to deflect them too

Yan defence is basically from boxing skills. His hands always protect his head and a little bend to protect his lower side. Absolutely you got his fights moves correctly. Aljamain had never kick Yan effectively even those high was not a hit.
@Ash-so2sr2 жыл бұрын
Yan gets hit a lot, I love his style but a lot of natural toughness is needed to play the 2 hands up guard for 25 mins in small gloves , a lot of people would have not been able to take the punishment he takes just like gaethje, there are styles that come naturally better to some people but again long term those micro shocks to the brain don't seem healthy but hey is mma is a dangerous contact sport anyway ...
