I work in education with 15, 16 and 17 year olds. It’s absolutely refreshing to see young ladies commenting on here about their interest in improving themselves. Just the fact they’re here and eager to learn speaks volumes to who they are already. Each one of them should be very proud of themselves for taking the initiative to go for it and improve themselves. I felt pride just reading their comments. A boss of mine once said “Always act in public as though you have cameras following you”. Just as most people would be on their A game or best behaviour in how they acted or looked if they were to appear on television, should you conduct yourself in public. ❤️

Of course you should conduct yourself, not only in public but also in private. Thank you for the information, but as someone described it as advice, I see it more as a message confirming that there are unfortunately other forces at work. Always be nice, is not a bad place for anyone to start.

Ironically this saying can also has negative affects too. My parents always act more understanding and charming in front of other people or in public but at home they are like whole different people ( less enthusiastic and very strict) . That's why I don't like this advice. Act the same way both in private and in public so that anybody seeing you in private never gets disappointed and people seeing you in public see your true authentic self. And it's good because you have eyes watching you that could give you critism so you can learn from it and not hide yourself away with a fake look sheilding your flaws. Work on being being beautiful both inside and outside. But everybody has their own opinions🤷‍♀️ i understand both of em

I'm turning 29 this year and I grew up being such a tomboy. I have almost no self esteem, I'm trying to stop cursing and I'm embarrassed to ask my own mother for help. I've been with my boyfriend for over 2 years and weve been talking about marriage and I want to give him a woman who is sure of herself and not a push over. Not just for him of course but for me. Just because you are a tomboy doesn't mean you are not a lady. Sometimes a woman can come across as a lady by the way she projects her public image but in her heart and personal life she may not be a lady. What really makes a lady is how she treats other people, her kindness to others, her willingness to help others, her ability to not judge others. I am fairly certain that the man who wants you to be his wife sees all these ladylike qualities in you. And he also appreciates your tomboy qualities that mean he can be himself with you. If he wanted Scarlet O'Hara (look up Gone with the Wind) he wouldn't be marrying you. So hold your head up and love him back for his wisdom in choosing you and loving you. Trust yourself and him and ye will live a long and happy life together and, as we say in Ireland, may all yer troubles be little ones. 👶👶👶👶👶

You can continue be a tomboy and still be a lady if you want. All it takes it's some class and I can tell you've got a good amount of that already! Of course, there's always room for improvement. You have to be kind and considerate towards others(which you seem to be), you need to value and respect yourself and others and strive for improvement and maybe keep yourself informed and keep and open mind. Leah, I know what you are getting at. I'm 40 and I've struggled with the same things you are. My mom was always a very rough and negative person with vulgar speech and was never very loving or caring. Then there were my two aunts on my dads side of the family who were very much lady like and poised but still fun and loving. It felt weird to me but I wanted to be like them. I just never thought it could be attainable or i just didnt know how to be that way because I've already been molded into a similar image that you portray yourself to be. I struggle with depression, anxiety, self confidence and I have bipolar disorder. Let me tell you how classy I feel with all that going on lol. But I still try to be very respectful to others and I do follow a lot of the rules that she speaks about in this video. I know that I've only been able to do this in life because of the influence from my aunts though. I might have gotten a lot of rotten things from my mom, but I'm glad I picked up some nice traits from my aunts too.

Hello darling, For those that like to get to the point. Here you go. 1. Dress accordingly 2. RSVP, Yes or no. Be on time. In thw event you are running late you will let them know. Leave on time(if it ends at 8p go home at 8) 3. Sitting and walking(do it properly). 4. Conversation & txt ( zero gossiping, listen vs talking too much. Classy people talk about events not people. 4. A. No txting, during dinner or gathering.( expecting a call excuse your self) 5. Extend assistance.( what can I do for you). 6.Leave people and things better than when you found. it 5.

Growing up, I was teased about being too “prissy” and “girlie”. As an adult, I’ve embraced who I am! I love the fact that I am naturally prim, proper and classy. I love people and enjoy providing community service. We didn’t have much when I was growing up but my family (from great grandparents to my mother) always said “leave things better than you found it”. I took it to heart all my life. I really enjoy watching your videos. I feel horrible that it took me this long to tell you. I am an African American woman, 30, and was NEVER taught how to be a lady nor be feminine. It was all about school and work growing up. This is something that is not discussed in black culture. The older I get Im really loving this whole classy and sopshicated feel of life. Rather than just get up and go type of look. I always admired women who were polished and put together.

I love veggies and there is one of my coworkers who hates veggies was going on and on about how disgusting they are. I always get this, since when I am thin I have the classic hourglass frame and people say "oh wow how'd you lose the weight? what's your secret?" like find out on your own, it took me a lot of effort to lose my weight do you really think i'm just going to spill it all out how i did it? and what's worse: "oh you eat so little. you became anorexic." like just because i eat less than you doesn't mean i'm starving. people get jealous. hell, that's a great video idea: Tracy how would you deal with jealous comments without letting them get to you and being the bigger person?

MARIUXI RENEE CADENA SALAZAR SAFADI - yes I love your question - I have battled my whole life with my own mother with ie how to be the better person , whats the best answer to give in the moment that sends the message a)how pathetic they are, b) that beholds myself the position of being strong and graceful in myself , and c) they should back off - all whilst I'm feeling crippled with hurt - because I never knew how to deal with it , I've actually had the whole spectrum of eating disorders , including anorexia nervosa - and even when I was in recovery of such - one day when I reached for a mere few nuts - in the midst of a party she has the indecency to say - leave some for other people too!!! Like as if I was some kind of hoarding pig that was eating all the food and not allowing any for anyone else !! I was virtually a bag of bones eating three nuts - yet here she was double the size of a normal person - helping herself quite freely to majority of a tray of biscuits and cheese!!! She was just trying to replace her own guilt of her own behaviour on to me!!!! That was the day I realised my problem was her all along !! And not some internal flaw of my own ! I have since healed a lot and come along way with disordered eating - but I have not got anywhere with dealing with toxic people remarks - esp my mother and still in this same situational moment around meal times - so If I could suggest a video on this alone Tracy - it would be very helpful I think to a lot of women how to be the graceful lady on the receiving end of tactless unlady people

I know I'm a bit late, but I love this comment! I have 3 children and recently, my oldest completed her first cotillion season. I recommend it. It is a tradition in my family, however in most places, it openly available. Check your local country club or golf club. Even if you or your parents are not members, accommodations are usually made. It covers ALL expected etiquette. From formal dance, proper attire, dining, guest expectations, written communication and so much more. It's well worth the time investment. Good luck to you all!

Tracy, I lost my Mom to cancer when I was very young and in many ways I never had anyone teach me what it was to be a lady. I watched my friend's mothers and always tried to learn from them and take appropriate cues as to how I should be and how I should behave. I tell you this because I want you to know how much I appreciate this video. In 20 minutes you have taught me some new things and affirmed for me that I was correct in adopting some of the behaviors I have. I wish the communication etiquette was common sense. I've had many friends text me last minute telling me that they overslept and can't make it. Most of the time they would have left me hanging if I had not texted them. It's sad that no one teaches people how to be respectful.

Beautiful! I’ve always been called classy. I just think it’s common sense and considerate. I’d like to bring up “the early bird” I find it really disrespectful to arrive too early. The hostess is preparing for a certain time and not ready to entertain yet. They early bird wants to chat or ask for something and it throws off the planning. I experience this all the time when running events, talks or hosting. I’ve now had to put it in the invitation “no early birds please “. Please do a video on etiquette for being too early. We’ve been trained early is better than late but not always. I prefer to host without help so arriving early to help should be done with permission. Thank you for your lovely inspiration.

Boy so true! I had a holiday party and saved getting dressed for last due to food prep and I was putting on my makeup in my bathrobe when the doorbell rang 40 mins before the party start time. I was mortified and had to sit the couple in the livingroom with the TV on while I finished getting g dressed. It's unbelievably rude to arrive early.

Good Job- I was sent to charm school in the 80's by my stepmom after she noticed I was a tomboy without a purse. I must say that was the best education I ever received - even better than college. Most girls laughed when I told them I went to charm school, but as an adult the training became more invaluable. I find that men usually notice it more than women, but women tend to notice especially if they're trying to get into a certain social circles, or they know it themselves. I remember going to lunch with a new girlfriend and she commented how she was impressed with my dining etiquette. She was a business owner attempting to do business in an affluent community and realized at a luncheon with a few influential women that she didn't know what to do. After I revealed my charm school training she gained even more respect for our friendship.

Find a finishing/etiquette school to attend and learn and use your social graces all the time. As you start excelling in your career you will naturally attract a classier group of friends. I bonded with an older woman at my job whom I consider a mentor. I found out later that she taught etiquette, is active in highly influential social groups, and frequents cool places like Martha's Vineyard and other spots. On another note, you're only going to have very few girlfriends anyway when you get older. Just make sure the few you have are good ones.

Lindsay R Just make sure she knows to be stern but caring and that a lot is now her responsibility so take extra thought to her words and actions because the underclassman are now looking to her for guidance. And tell her to remember to be herself and have fun 🥰 you only get the high school experience once sadly. I wish I would’ve known that then. I hope she does well!!

I am 13 and I find this video really enlightening. I think that how you carry yourself in public is so important. From your first impression on a teacher to your job interview how you present yourself and treat the person is front of you is so important. And I think that having proper etiquette improves a person and how they treat others so much! Being classy is not about superficial stuff but about your attitude in general and how u treat others. I remember when a colleague of mine asked me for ideas for an outfit for a wedding she was attending. I showed her a beautiful dress, knee length, something you could wear to church (but not too formal). She scoffed and showed me what she was ACTUALLY thinking about wearing. Some fashion nova-esque, tight, short sheath dress that made me truly wonder how she was going to comfortably sit down. It’s important to consider who the attention should be on during the event you’re attending as well. And what kind of attention your outfit brings. Great advice!

I didn’t think I’d like this video, or even finish it, but it’s really good. The word “lady” has me suspecting I was about to hear some anti-feminist propaganda, but not so. The video could well have been a man talking about how to be a gentleman and not one word would need to change (except maybe how to get out of a car in a skirt ☺️). Not everyone is brought up with how to behave politely, so it’s nice that this kind of content is out here and free to watch. Our behavior signals our trustworthiness more than our clothes.

These are some notes I was taking in the comment section while watching on my phone. I was going to just copy and paste them into my notes on my phone and not post the comment, but I thought someone else might find it useful to have the notes! 1. Dress for success - pay attention to where you are going and find out what to wear. Google it 2. Arriving and leaving. Don't be late: shows disrespect and says that you are irresponsible. Communicate if you will be late, in advance. The day of, send a reminder text/call that you will be late. Don't ask a friend or family member to do it, a classy woman does it herself. Don't be the last person to leave. Don't hold up the host, say thanks for a good time. 3. Sitting and walking. Sit straight and tall, smile a bit. Pretend there is a helium balloon attached to the top of your head. Stand tall to look classy and elegant. Learn how to walk in high heels 4. Conversation and cellphone usage. People with great minds talk about events. Small people talk about people. If people are talking about people just nod. Don't try too hard to own the conversation. Ask about other people. We learn the best by listening. A good communicator knows how to listen. For example: If someones mother is ill and has appointments coming up write a reminder and send a nice text on the day- letting you know i'm thinking about you and I hope the tests go well today. If someone compliments you, accept it. Classy women do not swear or use slang in social situations. Don't talk about what someone else is eating/weight/exercise/diet during a meal. Don't take your phone out during a social situation. Look for cues but use discretion . If you need to wait for a call, tell the other person 5. Lending assistance. Put other people first. Offer to give a helping hand. Always bring something for the hostess at a party. Help putting away dishes and cleaning up. Leave people and things better than you found them Always lift people, have them walk away feeling better.

Gary's wife here. I've been in the conversation at a party about someone that I did not want to be involved in; it was about the wife of a well respected member of the work team. Once the conversation started, I politely stated (with eye contact to the person who stated the conversation), "It was lovely visiting with you all, I'm going to walk around the room a bit. Have a lovely evening and time." Later I found that several of the ladies used my exit for theirs as well because they didn't know how to move or leave. Your tips are fantastic, I totally agree with them all and think that is some of what is missing in young ladies lives now-a-days. I was taught how to be a lady by fantastic ladies before me. You mentioned "living by all of these rules"; thing is, if you live it daily it's a way of life. God bless!!

I love your video!!! When my son was old enough to have sleepovers or when invited over for a playdate, I told him how important it is to compliment the parents on their home when you've made your way in. Take a look around and when something catches your eye, say something nice no matter how small you think you're complimenting. I also told him to watch for ques. If the parents asked your friend to help clear the kitchen table, lend a hand without being asked or asking your friend. The biggest compliment to hear from other parents is how polite and nice my son is.
