I am Native American and my uncle would never speak of these stories. Told me it was wise not to if I attempted to ask. He told me it would draw attention to the evil. He passed away of a heart attack a few months ago. Taking those secrets with him. I wish he could’ve told me, but I’ve come to understand why he wouldn’t.

Yes! My mother is Chiricahua and I tell my children the stories of the Wendigo, SWs, Stick Indians, and the Great Owl Monster. I'm not insanely superstitious but I will not whistle in the woods or talk about Stick Indians while in the forest, I won't talk about Wendigo in the winter, and I won't say the word that SW stands for. My mother and grandfather taught us that to talk about them was to call them up. I know it's stupid, but I don't see a point in tempting things I don't understand.

It's so sad that the truth of this story is a creepy pasta. This should be taught in schools. The real Native American history of all the natives. On our rez in South Dakota, we have The 38. These Native Americans fought for Lincoln and the north, but the soldiers refused to give them clean food, instead holding onto food and giving the Native Americans rotten, spoiled food. The Native warriors decided to go home after the war, but the white soldiers and Lincoln called them deserters and had them hung. Proud Sioux warriors killed because the war was over and it was time to go home and take care of their families.

Dara Boyd my mother wouldn't tell me about her life as a child on Pine Ridge, either. My family are direct descendants of Crazy Horse. My mom recently turned 75, and finally told me after I asked her for the thousandth time. I won't tell you all, but some, which is true according to my family. There are ancient demons in the blood of the land that have risen there and resided for a very long time. The evil walks around as actual people. It enters people, and does not ever leave them until they kill themselves. It hides in the houses and kills babies, tells men to rape their kids, beat their wives, kill strangers, etc. so they do. There is no evil like this anywhere else. If you do not believe me, look at the statistics for Pine Ridge regarding suicides, alcoholism, infant mortality, child abuse, and murder. You have no business there.

Just because he's Navajo doesn't mean he knows how to live if the land. Have you been to any modern native American reservations? I've been to many Navajo in particular near Flagstaff, AZ, doing volunteer work. Much of the land doesn't offer much in the way of living off it, and even the spots that do, the majority live in poverty in shacks, rampant alcoholism, obesity, diabetes... there are many reasons for this and I'm not blaming the native Americans at all. They still keep a lot of their culture alive, but a lot of the living of the land has been lost... his unit was mentioned specifically, and is very much likely the reason he could survive off the land and live completely off the grid for a long time. He may have known some things from his elders, but again, it's MUCH more likely that a modern day Navajo wouldn't be able to do the same things his ancestors did, and his military training is more likely.

That first one hits really close to home. In my hometown it's pretty well known that there was a particular Vietnam vet who came back off his rocker. I lived in the foothills of the Appalachians so it was ridiculously easy for one to just, disappear in the hills and that's exactly what he did. One day a group of 4 people were out riding their 4-wheelers in the woods, a common occurrence. Only 2 came home. They had stumbled upon a cave that this vet had decided to live in, and he shot and killed 2 of them before the others could escape. A few weeks later, the vet was found dead in a field near his cave. His death was ruled a suicide by the local police and wasn't further looked into. A suicide by shotgun blast, to the back of his head.

Yep, my very small town has one. We called him Crazy Gary as dumb kids. His peers had called him Cool Gary since high school. Us kids were terrified of him. When I got my own place with a couple friends, he was living in a trailer on the same property. One night, Gary stopped by to welcome us 3 teen girls with the gift of a huge fish, lol. He noticed we didn't have a couch, and the next day we saw him walking down the side of the road from town, with a FULL SIZE COUCH on his back. He carried it about 12 miles to give it to us. We were high on LSD and laughed in sheer amazement and delight for literally hours. After that, we weren't scared of Cool Gary anymore and never made fun of him again. I wonder what happened to him 30 years later...

@Lynn Eaglefeather I'm well aware of the timeline and your facts are accurate, however, if you re read my post you'll see I didn't say Agilisi. Not my grandmother, my great grandmother. And yes my great grandmother was full blooded cherokee. I would have loved to have been able to meet her because of what I've been told by other family. Anyways, I've done genetic testing and the only reason I'm even responding to this instead of just ignoring it is because, sometimes people speak on things or situations that they either know nothing or very little about and instead of maybe asking for more information so they actually have the facts that apply for a specific individual or situation, they assume and fill in the blanks with their own information which is sad and disrespectful. To make a longer post short, make sure you have all of your information pertaining to someone's personal situation correct before making a comment like you did, some people may not take it as well as I did nor will they be as kind about it. Aho!

He says..."If that's true...what else is real"...Well kid you really don't wanna know. In my opinion, everyone that doesn't believe or doesn't care either way you need to keep it that way! Don't go looking, please keep your innocents in not knowing. This world is changing very quickly for some reason. You can never be to careful. It's very important that you stay alert and are aware of your surroundings especially when going into any kind of woods or forests. And if at all possible don't go in them after dusk, (just before it gets dark) because that's when the woods and forest come alive. And if your in a State Park always stay on the trails or path, never veer off the path as anything could happen for example you get turned around somehow and you get lost. Don't say you won't cus it's happened to the most experienced hikers. If you want to know why I say this just look up Missing 411 here on KZbin and take a listen.

Nope. I can't even believe that ANYONE still goes to these places. With kids, even!! Terrifying places where terrible things happen that we just don't understand.

I'm with you on this 100%. I live up in the East Texas woods, and believe me there are things in those woods up there in the tall pines that you do not want to find. Some people may laugh at this when they read it, and that's fine. But there are things that look back at you in the dark, and they will come to you quicker than you can get to it.

Respect and prayers for your great grand ma. I am an Indian. From India , that is. I always found Original American beliefs very close to our own. We were under colonial rule and manipulations for more than 200 years. It still keeps haunting us. We have our own "Trail of Tears" and numerous undocumented genocides, along with cultural appropriation efforts, the effect of which can still be seen. Most of my middle class friends are not comfortable in their mother tongue, can't swim, can't hike in unknown forests without professional guides. And can't enjoy the nature around them either. Some who live in gated communities have not seen a real cow or snake or water fowl. I love being in forests and mountains and lakes and rivers. But, I don't like touristy trips. Being an environmentalist, I mixed my passion with my work. Every time I enter a forest , I pray, " Oh old gods and goddesses and spirits of the forest, oh my departed ancestors who surround me all time, I come with no ill intentions. I am within you and you are within me. Bless me, protect me and show me the way." I follow some rules, while in the jungle. 1. Never wear red. 2. Never wear make up or perfume. This is not a party. 3. Carry enough water. 4. When an area of the forest becomes totally silent, get out of there as soon as possible. The forest is warning you. 5. Avoid revealing too much about yourself to fellow travellers you just met. 6. Strike your feet twice while taking a step so that the snakes can be warned and leave your path alone. 7. Don't freak out by glowing eyes around camp ground. It is usually the local fauna interested by intruder. 8. Keep a sharp hunting knife and paper spray. Not for the animals. They usually avoid human beings. But for foul men who might attack.

The fourth story was the best. I just loved reading and listening to true crime documentaries. This is by far the most fascinating. Blood money is such a powerful desire. Overwhelming greed. Blood oil. Money is the god in the minds of those behind the murders. They idolize money. They love money. They kill for money. Doesn't matter if they're destroying their own flesh and blood, as long as they get the money. As they say money is the root of all evil.

There's actually a book on it if you're interested, goes in depth on the background behind the murders, the investigation, the victims, the perpetrators, everything. It's called Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. Was the start of the FBI because the murders was so extensive that the investigation methods at the time were too primitive to keep up with them, so they had to develop new advanced methods on the fly instead just to keep up with the crime scenes and the perpetrator. It's interesting but beyond heartbreaking actually because the perpetrators who killed these innocent people, were once people they had trusted and revered, only to be bathed in their own blood by people they had once loved and respected. If you can find the book I highly recommend it, it's a really good read, especially since it really treats the case and its victims with a lot of care and respect on top of being one of if not the most accurate account on the case given its all compiled from historical archives, tribal documents, letters, written accounts, newspaper clippings and pretty much any and all fragment of information about it that could be found.

Oglala Lakota Sioux here...Pine Ridge, S.D. I can tell you so many stories. My uncle passed out in his car along the side the road outside of Porcupine. Someone lit the car on fire and burned him alive. Another time, a girl was found in a ditch with her hands cut off. Another time, the medicine man buried a white lady alive for 3 days with a tube to breathe to cure her cancer. I don't know if it ever was. If you really want to be scared, go to the Wounded Knee Battlefield, and listen to the screaming on the wind and see the ghosts walking around. There is a lot of evil there. The ground is bad.

I must say, this is the first time I have listened to you and I like what you do! You have a good voice for this, and the fact that you did one on Native American stories was a plus for me as I am Native and I do live on my Reservation. I think each tribe has their own legends and spooky tails, but the ones you have here are pretty good. I guess they were not to much legends as they were scary, and all the killing of oil share holders was gruesome, but you did great. That last story though, it was not just a Mountain Goat he saw, that was a skin walker! Remember his friend who told him something was watching them?? Skin Walker! As skin walker is starts out as normal person and in the end they wear the skin of the animal they transform into, and some can do it with any animal. They carry it with them and when they become the animal they do this by putting on the skin they carry with them. I can't explain all of it but you get the picture. You did great, I will be listening to more!!
