Regarding training the body lock grip this is an exercise we do in wrestling with a partner (a bag is fine if you don't have one), and while it helps to condition your grip strength and endurance it is also primarily to work on the hip pop. A hip pop is up and back, not a forward hip thrust. Hope this helps
