The fact that I searched up “how to make friends” really shows how lonely I am. And reading other people’s experiences reassures me that I’m not the only one who’s struggling. I regret not being social during my middle/highschool days so much. I’m quiet in class, stays at the school library during lunch just to listen to music, then straight home. That’s it. No matter how hard I try to communicate/ engage in a conversation, it always ends short. I don’t know what to say/ talk about and it makes the other person awkward. *sigh*

Well, I dont have friends too, one thing you can do is using apps to find people who likes things you like, try your best to find someone who shares hobbies with you. I like Jojos and anime, so maybe someone I saw who likes anime too may be a potential friend, then is up to you to go talk with them. I know it is hard at the beggining but with just one bet, you could win a best friend or even a couple, who knows!

I'm not socially awkward, I'm just socially and mentally and culturally different than most/all people around me. Whenever I talk to new people, they either start to act the same way as me (which i find really cute) or they get annoyed and intimidated. I'm sick and tired of feeling like the third wheel in a friend group. I'm also sick of edgy jokes that only intend to annoy me with no sense of humor whatsaover. these are the types of friendships i have currently and the whole topic of friends get me confused as hell because I honestly don't know if you should enjoy the company of your friends or tolerate it. I find myself tolerating a lot of the time i spend with my friends, maybe thats how friendships work, maybe its not. i dont know yet.

I've been shy and socially awkward my whole life but I always had my beautiful outgoing silly younger sister to include and make me feel accepted. She made me feel like the most special person and our favorite thing to do was sing at karaoke on the weekends. She died 3 weeks ago and I know I'll never find another friend like her. Hi, current college freshman here! I had the exact same experience when I entered high school too. I was also extremely shy/quiet and struggled to make conversation (and still am tbh). But through time, I eventually made friends through my classes by just trying to start conversations with people who sat next to me or people in group assignments. Sure, it was extremely difficult and awkward at first, but some of those interactions actually led to friendships (surprisingly), some of which ended up being the closest relationships i ever had. I know right now, it might seem really difficult to make new friends, but even just saying “hi” can go long ways (fun fact: I met my first girlfriend by just saying hi to her everyday in class LOL). As someone who’s been thru what you’re going thru, I just want you to know that the loneliness doesn’t last forever! You don’t have to be extroverted or have ‘social’ personality traits to make friends, and I can attest to that! You just need to be willing to put yourself out there. Good luck to you!

No one will probably read this but, I have social anxiety, but i'm also often a perfectionist. I also sometimes can't read the room, which is a terrible thing for me and some others. Making friends is really hard since i don't know what to say or do. I usually stress about tons of things and overthink to much. Because of that i don't have time to be calm and relaxed. But whenever i have some extra free time, there's one thing that always made me calm. I know this may sound weird, but i always brew some tea in my free time. It helps me to keep calm and have some peace alone, even if it's only for a short timing, i still find a way to brew tea. If your reading this, don't be afraid to do something you love, find some time to just relax and stay calm while enjoying your time alone, or with someone your close. Just know that there are many other people here who is going through the same thing as you. This is for you, or someone who's suffering from other things, " It's okay to be yourself, it's okay to love yourself, it's okay to cry like your dying, if your mad just let it all out, if you don't want to do it then don't. I know it's hard but it takes time to change. Make sure that your health is okay. What's important is yourself. " Right now, i'm anxious if what i'm saying will help other's, ............ @@aswomegamer4359 I was a complete introvert for years until I opened my eyes to that fact that most of the people I know are idiots. (That may not be true but that is how I used to see it as I considered all the people who make suggestions like “just talk to people” or “just be yourself” were idiots, I know differently now though). Basically, it made me not give a d*mn about what people thought. Also when I became a martial artist and later ended up beating an adult at age 14 in a street fight I suddenly realized that I am better (that was how I thought of it, it isn’t true but that mindset did help me) than everyone around me (once again, not true). That arrogance was actually good (arrogance is not a good trait, however it did help me in this situation) for me as my confidence and in turn my self-esteem soared. I then over time stopped that mindset and instead of seeing everyone below me I saw myself as equal to everyone else. This made making friends and having conversations so much easier. I then started slowly combining that mentality I now had with how I was before. It is much easier to become introverted when you are extroverted as opposed to vice-versa. So, instead of trying to boost myself a small degree and remain true to how I used to be. I (kinda) lied to myself and shot my confidence to the sky. You fake it till you make it. I then eased back into how I used to be with the newfound confidence and athleticism (I had started working out and joined many more sports at that point) and I feel great and like I’m my best self.

I'm just extremely introverted and hate small talk. So when sitting alone watching these videos, I don't wish I was with people. In fact, I never think "I wish I was with someone right now." I don't feel lonely, except maybe for fleeting moments maybe once a year, but the feeling passes before the day is up. And while I would like a few close friends, the early stages of it, like just having conversations about stuff, is more repulsive to me than spiders. I can't explain why. I don't talk much, only when I feel like something needs to be said. So talking for the sake of talking has never made sense to me. So it's hard to make friends when you want the endgame(a few close companions you can trust) but hate everything it takes to get to that point.

@@sementaitclub2199 how late is too late? Because yes I expect to change over the years, and I'm only twenty now, so I would assume time is on my side with this one. I guess it depends on what needs changing. People do change, but they also stay the same. I'm always going to be a quiet, reserved person, even if the years force me to be more open, I'll be relatively quiet. A side effect of my reserved nature is that I'm a great listener and mediator, and I'd like to keep that. I just need to practice speaking up when I know I should. I don't seek things out so much as roll with the punches, and that can be problematic at times. Oh great, you got me responding late at night when I'm more open.

That’s exactly what I’m going through for the past 2 years no matter how hot or cold it was day or night 24/7 I had a hoodie on. Big hoodies for when I’m feeling extra introverted normal hoodies were just normal everyday and the small hoodies zip up hoodies if I had to go to a fancy event (I’m telling you vampires wouldn’t even know I had veins because the sides of my necks and arms were never out). Than like 2/3 into last school year I got one of those long kip up hoodies that are like a cape/trench/dress and it was my absolute best friend. @Turkan Hamza Okay, I fully understand now. I feel stupid because I have social anxiety. But it's not as worst as others but its still worst. It's hard for me to eat in front of others. If I do, I will start feeling very uncomfortable and feel like everyone is watching me. For instance, I will just start to shake uncontrollably. (But I'm getting better at it, finally.) But I cant even swallow my food still because I'm afraid they would hear me. But my relatives always blame my phone for me being this way. So, thank you for reassuring me. But also insolating yourself causes you to lack social skills. I learn that from experience. I'm lucky that my anxiety is not to the point where I cant talk to people. But not eating in front of others also diarupts my social life because everything social is related to it. So, it'll still be hard for me. But not so worst.
