They did an interview with one of the engineers and he explained the benefits. The biggest thing to me was smoothing out engine stop/start.

The Rebel is a vastly "nicer" truck to daily drive. If you've driven both, that's obvious. The Gladiator is more off road worthy, but not many people are going to go far enough off road to need more than the Rebel.

Guys, let's talk eTorque. 1. Download an accelerometer app on your cell phone (e.g., Sensor Sense) 2. Find a smooth stretch of road. 3. Get two RAMs with identical power trains side-by-side, one with eTorque and one without, and drive them down that road while recording the acceleration on your phone. Make sure you place the phone at the same spot in each truck so it's an apples-to-apples comparison. 4. Objectively compare the accelerations from each gear shift between the eTorque and non-eTorque transmissions.

E torque has very slightly better gas economy on acceleration, cuz the engine needs to work less to get the same amount of acceleration

You can option a 2500 Tradesman with the Power Wagon Package along with a few other options and stay under $55K MSRP. This is just one more choice available - each of the the trucks has Pro's and Cons. Maybe FCA should offer a Blender option instead of the E Torque that does nothing!

If you off-road for real 3 weekend a month over 5+ months...jeep. if you commute, haul anything for diy or home use, and want to overland and camp like most actually do without any 'hardcore' off road...the Ram, or any 1500 size truck. My F150 was 33k out the door, missing a lot of bells and whistles like heated seats, but the STX had almost everything I actually needed, very suited for what we needed.

I've been watching your guys' videos since the reveal of the Gladiator two years ago and ever since then I've been eagerly awaited the release of the vehicle in Germany. It's awesome though to be able to watch your videos on a daily basis and the fact that Tommy has gone the whole nine yards on his way to adulthood in the meantime just made the ridiculously long waiting time apparent to me. Wow you mean to tell me a full size truck has a bigger interior, bed and can tow more?? No way! I had a 17 Power Wagon and i loved it but for what my needs are i like my gladiator more overall. And it’s crazy that with 37s on my gladiator i get around 16.8mpgs compared to in the 11s with 35s on the Ram

I just got back from a road trip from California to Telluride, Co. i sacrificed on road driveability for off road capability by taking the Wrangler JKUR over my Rebel. Taking the Wrangler actually worked out really well and now might consider selling both for a Gladiator.

Ram does come with a bed extender if you get rambox, there is a divider the unfolds to a u shape that incorporates the tailgate for bed size.

I just bought a 2024 rebel and they told me it towed 12000 but after I bought it going through all the paper work it can only tow 7200. It’s the air shock version. I traded in my Mojave gladiator for it that can only tow 4500. I thought I was grabbing the model with front and top 360 camera but I didn’t. How hard is it to add those extra cameras ?

I’m seriously skeptical about the etorque system. Is it reliable? I hate the idea of the 48v system combined with the 12v battery. It just seems so unnecessary. Just another system to go wrong and expensive to replace down the road. Sucks all 2021 AT JL’s have it with the 3.6.

I think that the Rebel offers a lot more for the money, and is the more complete, utilitarian package. When it comes down to everyday comfort & drivability, payload & towing capacity, and power, unless you're planning on spending most of your time trying to crawl up to the top of El Capitan, I can't see purchasing a Gladiator, especially if it was going to be your sole mode of transportation.

I have e-torque on my 2020 Rebel. It doesn’t bother me one bit. Saves fuel at stop lights and keeps the engine hours low.

Honestly, I like the look of the TRX grill better than the Rebel grill. The "mustache" staying below the RAM badge looks a lot better than swooping above the badge. It would be nice if they modify the Rebel grill as such.

I'd buy the Rebel for my daily driving and occasional light off road. I'd buy a 3 year old gladiator for more adventurous off roading/camping and wouldn't mind if it picked up scratches or dents. The gladiator is too crude to drive everyday and the Rebel is too nice to beat in the hills.

My daughter has a ram with pentastar. My brother has a hemi. 19 and 19. 1\4 mile pentastar rules in Oklahoma. Watched it 3 times. I now have a 2021 JL sport s unlimited Aisin 6 speed manual.

Have had a 1500 EcoDiesel ram1500 slt, now have 21 gladiator Rubicon diesel.. and I LOVE it I truly do... But going back to a 22 ram rebel diesel - with 2 kids, a 6000lb trailer and long highway drives, as much as I'm an enthusiast the rebel does 95% of the offroad I will reasonably do and is far far far better at towing and on long highway drives.

15,000 miles on the clock of my 2019 ram 1500 Limited. I got it as fully loaded as I could possibly find for the time $72000 MSRP. I can Unequivocally say.... the Etorque system does not benefit the truck in any conceivable way. It doesn't get better gas mileage I average 15 mpg, ( I did replace the stock tires www.customwheeloffset.com/wheel-offset-gallery/911106/2019-ram-1500-xd-badlands-stock ) It isn't any faster. Do not buy etorque, if you're going to get a ram 1500 hemi.

I had the same problem with my 2020 Ram Rebel couldn't do better that 15mpg highway! ...traded it for a Trail Boss LT and its awesome, also 23.4 mpg best with it.

@@rossgreenzweig 👌 nice, I find the Ram to be a more complete package for what I do. I like the look of the trail boss, but My truck has to be a little more on the professional side for realestate. I definitely thought long and hard about getting one that was blacked out and throwing 35"s and a lift kit on it. But that would be more play than work. Which is definitely not the case for me. I do however have plans on getting a 2021 escalate which will free the truck up for more fun stuff.

Haven't heard mention the troubles with the Check engine light, or codes or the start stop system that seems like EVERYONE is having issues with. I had a 2019 wrangler sahara with all the options, no problems. I currently have a 2021 Rebel, that i've owned for a little more than a year. Also zero issues. The wrangler was a 2.0 turbo and the rebel is the 5.7. I also have friends with Jls and no issues reported. So "Almost everyone" is a tad steep

Me and the wife both looked at the Ram Rebel and the Gladiator. We both went for the Rebel. I mean comfort, the 12 inch screen, and off-road capabilities are good enough for the outdoor, camping, hiking light wheeling, stuff we do.

I recently struggled with the same decision... Ram vs. Wrangler. I ended up with a Mojave Gladiator with 6 speed manual and cloth top. I landed a killer deal on the Mojave and couldn’t pass it up!

Rebel, hands down. More capable, more practical, more power and more efficient. The Ram I rented this summer averaged over 22 mpg over 3500 miles. Granted, it was a Big Horn and not a Rebel, but that 5.7 Hemi a beast.

I own a 19 Rebel and I love it! 5.7 Hemi of course. The inside of the truck I love. That big screen is a must!! I Have the red interior as well. Just an amazing truck!! Love it on the snow,mud,sand,rain. Love the Rebel. Just keep in mind MPG haha sucks lol.

I would choose....to keep my current truck. $55k to replace my current truck is just not an option. It has over 436k miles and it's paid off. It tows, hauls and can do any off roading that I care to do. Would it be nice to have brand new again...yes. I'll just keep mine until it dies completely.

Great Video i like the Rebel more than the Jeep by mostly everything unless your doing mostly off road, Rebel will always be the better choice. Also Tommy needs to hit the gym for that upper body strength gain. Id also wait a year or two and wait till the depreciation hit and buy the Rebel for 30ish.

Had a 12 sport s manual. Both pentasars run. Some of us finance these machines.and they work real world much better than your tests show. I have a travel trailer. I don't tow it with my wife's jeep I tow it with my 05 gmc k3500 regular cab 6.0 nv4500.

I own a 2020 Jeep Sport Wrangler 6Speed 3.6L and a RAM 1500 5.7L V8 Hemi for my company work truck and RAM is a drunk Pig on gas in town city driving. Highway is better, probably 19MPG. One of my workers has the Rebal Edition and same complaint on MPG city daily driver.

That is what you get with a V8. I best friend has a 5.7 Tundra. It gets about 14mpg average.
