Fun video, and from watching many of your others I've brought back the collar pop! I stopped doing it some time in the 90's because I thought it was out of style, and made me feel "older" (now I'm actually older and I don't care!) I do a "wrap over" back tuck instead of a knot. I'm a huge fan of buttoning the top of jackets because I'm large busted and I prefer the look of a smaller bust. I notice your body type is suited to getting away with very boxy, oversized, and cropped styles, but I find it hard to pull off.....but I still find inspiration from your quirkiness :) Thank you for posting and sharing your talent and style :)

I love the collar pop! I love a scarf! But, I have such a short thick neck, a popped color hits too high on my face and a little tied scarf draws attention to my thick neck. What is an edgy girl to do?

Just to the buttons all the way to the top and keep the collar sharp. Still looks polished and cool.

You basically showed a lot of the small details that always make your outfits feel personalized to you and interesting. Those little tweaks really are what initially made me enjoy looking at and analysing the way you style an outfit. Especially because you do things that I visually find very pleasing AND barely ever see anybody else do (at least IRL, where I live). Aside from that layer peek, but on most people it looks rather unintentional and misplaced, often times due to not matching the individual layers at all, it most likely looks like they threw on something over a cheesy pyjama, I mean, if that's one's desired look, they can happily go for it, but I bet most of them don't even notice it themselves. I think that one trick can be done quite "wrong", which doesn't mean that you have to have things in the same color, but it's one thing if you "just do something" or if you "do something with an actual intention and create a cohesive look". Often times it's also the fabric of the underlayer that's looking cheap or worn out and ruins the look. In your case that outfit works very well though. Also that lazy roll? Super nice, especially with that shirt tuck you did. And that also shows what I mean with the first example. If things tie together easily, they look intentional and cohesive and stylish. If they are just wildly mixed they can - at least on some individuals - create a rather messy and frumpy look that looks very unintentional. I guess those are the little details we need to learn if we want to look nicely put together without looking "too polished" for our own liking. Hope that made sense. That's actually something I thought about a lot in the last few weeks. Because I see a lot of people wearing actually cool and/or nice clothes but there's almost always something really off about their entire look (in terms of how their overall styling and the outfit play together). And that's something that can easily ruin a look no matter how amazing the individual pieces are, you're wearing. I by no means do things perfectly all the time. I often time walk out of the house, forgetting about something while styling an outfit or simply not thinking while getting dressed and I might see my reflection in a mirror or a store window and laugh at myself. It happens to most of us if not all of us. That's why I am able to point out certain things - because I already made that mistake, and most likely more than once. And let's be real, on some days we just don't care and that's okay. Sometimes other things are way more important than styling our outfits nicely. I've walked out the house wearing my pyjamas and had to get to the emergency vet clinic at night. I bet I didn't look stylish at all. Stuff like that happens, that's normal, we're still humans at the end of the day. Just adding that in because I don't want people to feel pressured into always looking perfectly styled, that's not my intention and not how I roll. Just because I notice things doesn't mean I'll bash people for that. Also: often times it's easier to add nice tweaks to another person's outfit because we can see the impact better. On ourselves it might be way more hard to see what's the problem and that's also very normal. That's something one can learn though. And in that case I wanna mention that filming yourself, especially in movement, can really help a lot. And I'll be very honest here: I find styling a room way easier than styling an outfit on myself, still to this day. Since I am pretty sure that I am not the only one still somewhat struggling with this, let's all try some new things, maybe some Emily showed here, maybe some we saw somewhere else, maybe something we never tried before, and just see what it does to the overall look. But without stressing about it, just having fun with it.
