I adjust/tune all my triggers to 3-4 lbs for consistency (me clumsy) but really should take a few shots with gloves on. And I could do that any time with the RFs. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂

Thanks for showing us so many Wheeler & Caldwell goodies. I won't replace much of what I've had for twenty years but this new(?) trigger gauge is something I wish I'd had all along. btw, I thought I was done buying more bench gear, and I don't have the Lead Sled DFT yet either. (Doh!)

Adam, anxiously waiting for a battle of the 264 Win Mags! Please scope up the Model 70 Super Grade BEAUTY for the battle of the ages. I am predicting the Sendero will come out on top at 100 yards & 200 yards. The SG is gorgeous, but no match for the Sendero’s three-rings-of-steel. Have fun and looking forward to the 264 Win Mag shoot out.

I try to keep my hunting rigs at 3 pounds. Consistent pull no matter which boolott slinger I'm toting around. I've replaced plenty of Ruger American triggers to get a clean 3 pound pull. The 22-250 wears a Timney, 2 pound pull. 22 Creedmoor wears a Calvin Elite, set at 1 pound 8 ounces.

Nice gage, thank you for sharing. One thing I noticed in your tests is many rifles had a fair amount of overtravel. I'm ok with any trigger under 3#, but overtravel drives me nuts. To me, a good trigger has pull weight and overtravel adjustments. Should also mention free take-up is a no-go either.

A thought, place some painters tape on the trigger with a mark on the tape. Then the gauge does not slip, and you can locate the gauge in the same position each time. It gives much, much more consistent readings.

I have a Ruger American predator. Did some polishing on the sear and trigger face, as well as swapping out the trigger spring for a ball point pen spring. Upon reinstalling everything, as soon as I took up the blade safety, the rifle fired. It too was probably in that 6oz range. Decided it was best that I turn that sucker up. It’s probably 1.5-2lbs now.

Just a bit of advice,or a tip however you take it ,,,on that gauge dont pull the large screen part ,its actually designed to use with your finger on the plate that hooks on the trigger,it will give a true reading this way if you pull on it the wieght will increase as the sear breaks ,,,try it you will see,,yes im big into triggers my average rifle has a 5 oz trigger and my bench rigs i run about 2oz i wont own anything that has a trigger over a pound,,,and no light triggers are only dangerous if you dont have proper sear engagement,,and you will know when you give them the slap bump test or slam the bolt home if it fires thecsear engagement is not set properly

"This is going to be a really fun video", starts all your video's. Tonight the fun you were having was more evident than any previous one in my memory. The only bad thing about this video is you spent 22 minutes testing triggers on only some of your rifles, I would be lucky to go 6 minutes for all mine following your format. Enjoyed the video and trigger pull weight would be a nice addition when showing us your newest acquisitions. Keep up the great work.

More info is always welcome, just a few years ago we all blamed lawyers for rough heavy triggers..was it just makers covering their backside or just get the product out the door as cheap as possible? Yes having this on the range would be a welcome addition to your slinger tests,,,,as would a chrono on your ammo tests to tell who is shorting us on powder, more important than group size,,just sayin…….

Isn’t that a AR style trigger on those Barrett’s? Some basic hand work and Emory cloth will drop that 5 down to 3.5# easy if so, and it will be a smooth pull not gritty or clunky. What I do with all mine now. Have 1 geisllle from a big sale I bought, rest are just worked over mill spec’s that I get down to the 3.5-4.25 range. More than good enough for most applications.

IMO never a good idea to cut a spring shorter. Yes, it will lighten the pull but at a risk of an AD. Far better to buy a spring with the correct free length to properly preload the trigger. A good test is to bump the recoil pad on the floor a few times to ensure that the rifle won't discharge. I know many people will disagree with me but just saying be careful.
