Thanks for this I am over the age of 60 and already do the vitamin B12 in the magnesium and the other supplements that you suggest. The question I have is related to the creatine I've had one kidney since I was six and as age has crept up by known to have chronic kidney disease stage 3. So, I am a little leery of taking creatine even though I'd like to since I'm now trying to lose weight gain muscle by going to the gym and also watching my diet. I should not be taking creatine monohydrate should I if I have one kidney and have chronic kidney disease stage 3?

@Fitfatherproject4 жыл бұрын
Hey Xpro, thanks for writing in and great question. It's wonderful you're still staying active in your boxing retirement. Regarding getting tired/sick/fatigued, the reasons could be numerous. But a few tips that may help keep you going can include the following:Ensure proper hydration. We recommend drinking half your body-weight in ounces + 32 to ensure you're body is functioning effectively and efficiently (so for a 200lb person, consuming 132oz). Ensure proper rest and recovery. We are talking about getting a MINIMUM of 7+ hours of sleep. Consider setting your temp to 70 degrees (optimal sleep conditions), wearing a mask/ear plugs to avoid sleep interruption, and avoid technology 1-2 hours before sleep, as the blue light can alter your sleep quality. And lastly, consider taking the supplements from this video, especially the multi-vitamin, Vit D3, and Creatine to help boost some energy levels overall. -The FFP Team

I use all of these (and more) but not creatine. I'm in my mid 50s and in great health with good muscle tone, so I just don't feel I need it on top of everything I'm already doing. If I were to try it, it would be more for brain benefits than muscle building. Also, I would add 2 more supplements to this list... Vitamin K2 should always taken with D3, as it ensures that calcium is deposited in bones not soft tissue. I'd also add vitamin C, specifically ester C with bioflavinoids, which is an important anti-oxidant as well as for enhancing the health of the endothelial lining of the blood vessels.

Great video and very informative! Just one thing, what variant of magnesium do you recommend?
@Fitfatherproject4 жыл бұрын
Hey Stephen, thanks for writing in and great question. We would recommend going with a supplement that was either Magnesium Citrate, L-threonate, or Glycinate. Citrate is probably the most bioavailble and therefore absorbed the best. L-threonate and Glycinate are also absorbed well and may come with more calming properties. So you can't go wrong with any of those three! -The FFP Team

@@Fitfatherproject Hi team, Thanks for getting back to me. Citrate seems to be getting a bad write up in most of the research I've been doing and is mostly seen as a laxitive type supplement!? Also is glycinate also known as chelated?

Hey Stephen, Malate is another form that is absorbed well but can come without the laxative effect. Glycinate is a type of amino acid to make mineral chelated magnesium, which is another version to with easier absorption as well. -The FFP Team

@Fitfatherproject3 жыл бұрын
Hey Juls, thanks for writing in and great question! @Fitfatherproject3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, thanks for writing in and great question. You can take either to be honest. Do you take all these supplements together say after breakfast or do you take them at different times? Also, I'm worried that turmeric could affect my libido because it's an anti-inflammatory. And I've heard that creatine can cause baldness. P.S. Below I didn't see any dosage recommendations just a brand name.
@Fitfatherproject3 жыл бұрын
Hey Shawn, thanks for writing in and great question. You can take these supplements with the first meal of your day to help create a habit, taking them the same time daily. The exception will be Magnesium which we recommend taking in the evening before bed to help enhance sleep. Creatine Monohydrate should also be taken post-workout but if you are working out before your first meal, it naturally fits with the other supplements. Regarding turmeric, it actually may help with sexual functionality (though more human tests are needed). But if exercising and eating correctly, you should actually be boosting your testosterone and libido levels. -The FFP Team

What about pips and apple cider vinegar. How much and in what form
@Fitfatherproject4 жыл бұрын
Hey RH, thanks for writing in and great question. We are big proponents of Apple Cider Vinegar and in fact, recommend consuming 1-2tsp with 32oz of water first thing in the morning. Not only will you re-hydrate yourself after (hopefully) 7+ hours of being dehydrated, the ACV may help curb hunger and lower blood sugar levels to help your body fight off fat. Regarding pips, (assuming them as fruit seeds), it depends on the fruit. Some can provide fiber, as well as anti-oxidants, and early studies show that they may even help fight off infections and improve gut health. However, larger amounts may decrease fertility and hurt your overall DNA structure. So the bottom line is that eating them in moderation can be very healthy for you but more information may be necessary to definitively make these claims. -The FFP Team

Wonder if cbd oil is good for inflammation in shoulders , knees after workouts
@Fitfatherproject5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for writing in Larry and great question! CBD has shown to be somewhat promising for helping ailments like inflammation...in animal studies. Unfortunately, as of now, there is a lack of studies performed on humans to test this and further, CBD alone may not help as much as taken with THC (consumed or inhaled from medicinal cannabis). Additionally, long-term effects are unknown at this point so if CBD is something you are considering taking, we recommend talking with your doctor to see if it's the right course of action for you. -The FFP Team

My experience is that creatine is not for everyone. In some people creatine somehow causes swollen ankles and feet. I had that too. That's why i stopped taking creatine.

I'm 49 year old and I'm diabetic can I use creatine mono hydrate ?
@Fitfatherproject4 жыл бұрын
Hey Shahid, thanks for writing in and great question. Even though there are some benefits for creatine use with diabetics, we would recommend against it at this time. Dr. A goes into a bit more detail on the topic here==>fit-father-project.helpscoutdocs.com/article/38-creatine-type2-diabetes -The FFP Team
