What was your video call interview like? Any new tricks or cool tips you can share? :)

Also- I started watching your channel a year ago I didn’t know anything about UX and now I’m interviewing for my 3rd internship tomorrow. Thanks for all you do!

I do remember you from before and thanks for watching :) Hope these videos help! And congrats on your interviews and 3rd internship! woohoo. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 I am actually about to shoot another video on how the intern hiring process works (from the hiring manager's perspective so it shed lights on what candidates would keep an eye on). Maybe you will find that useful too.

As a college student during COVID, I actually never had a single in-person interview and only had video calls! Totally agree with everything you say. Another tip that may or may not be helpful, but for people that are just starting to build their online portfolios, building a slide deck first might help streamline the process. Decks are usually more compact and narrative focus, so it helps outline a case study for your website more effectively. But as always, really depends on people's own process :)

Great point! That's actually what inspired to make this video: WFH video calls all day! Interesting point, the assumption I had was that if you were putting together a school project on your portfolio, you probably will have a deck already since you had to present in class. So this can be good for internship projects! But still I think I also presented with a deck at the end of my internships so I already had a deck to begin with 🤔 But yeah! Your point is still valid depending where people are coming from! Conclusion: make sure to check out the comment guys! Viewers bring up good points, like Miranda!

Oh my gosh I would have never thought to create a new slide deck. I have a round two interview tomorrow afternoon and I was just stressing about how to fit all that I wanted to say about my projects with just screen sharing my online portfolio.

Hi Madison! Me neither 😅 It's my recent realization so I figured it's worth sharing haha. If you have time, yeah i do recommend making a more compact deck to include all you want to say instead of relying on scrolling a web portfolio.

I'm for spec work. I mean, schools make you do spec work, AND you pay them to do that to you! The best way to learn is through experience. And if you got time, why not? If you don't have time, and have too many clients, then yes. Be stingy about your time IF you're doing too much. Doing spec work shows gratitude, kindness, and humility. Of course, do it for the right kind of people. If you sense that they are only taking advantage of you, don't do it. But if they're nice and really interested in you and if you have time, then collaborate.

Thanks for the elaborate comment. Just to get a little big more context, what is the spec work you are talking about here?
