Got some good tips thanks, I have a problematic employee who is sick 2-3 days a week for the past month, different reason every time and it is always one day or half a day only. If he truly has issues I want to help as his manager, but even the other team members do not believe his excuses. I don't want to speculate, but you gave me some good ideas so thank you.

Glad the video was useful and I hope you can cut down the sickness being taken quickly. J

In 30 years of working, I've never taken a sick day from work when not sick. Hire ethical people and treat them well, and the issue should solve itself.

A very impressive record. Well done. It would be amazing if every employee and every employer were ethical, fair and looked out for each other. Thanks for your comment. Jess

I have learnt to hire good people first and foremost. If only this step is easy...

Hiring great people is brilliant. As you say finding them is hard.

I use to get sick once a year but now that I work at a hospital I get sick more often. Can I blame my work environment?

The evironment is a fair excuse when you work in a hospital. J

You are very wrong about one factor, single day sick days don't mean they are any less severe compared to having a week off, that's called speculation which you have just said, not to do.....

Hi Philip, thank you for pointing this out. You are right. I would hope the manager would be concerned enough to find out what the issues were regardless of the amount of time taken off.

Exactly. Homie contradicted himself and gone against his OWN RULE! He was probably a trash boss to work for too! 💯🥺

Flexibiilty is super important as everyone is different and every situation is different. If you are following ridge rules you will struggle to manage well.

Getting the balance right between being supportive and caring about your staff and ensuring they don't take advantage of the company is tricky. There is a ton of things that influence days off sick - team and company culture are near or at the top. The better the culture, the less people will feel stressed, burnt out, worked to the bone etc which results in less time off sick...

Extra work ,not extra pay.
@Enhancetraining4 ай бұрын
I have always found that build the skills and experience and the pay will follow (one way or another). Give first - which does mean doing a bit of extra work for free. Those that expect the extra pay first struggle to get ahead. J
