Companies saying "oh we've existed for 130 years we know shit" nah bruh, you know shit as much as idk when your last ceo probably sat, can't just use years like that. Point being is, it's expected. I'd say that Toyota are one of the best companies who still somewhat maintain their legacy in some way or form. Toyota/Lexus vehicles built in the late '90s and early 2000s were over built or over-engineered meaning they were so well built that they lasted a long time. They paid attention every little detail and quality, sometime the Big 3 American automakers don't do

And then after the greed factor set in. Not good for business to sell a vehicle that last too long. Let's make them not to last that long. Also make it almost impossible for customers to maintain their vehicles, and have to get it done in Toyota/Lexus workshop, where we can charge whatever we want. Toyota today... Pathetic. Witch other car maker in history had to replace 200 000 engines? Anyone? Toyota one a proud reliable company with really good vehicles. I have owned 3 LS430s and can say it is absolutely true they are one of the best at doing so many things so well. The quality of the materials is superior to any car under $100K. You need to get into Rolls Royce or Bentley class of cars to find the LS cheap in comparison. They did cheap out on this generation a bit by taking away standard leather wrapped door arm rests on all LS400s and reserving them for the Custom and Ultra Luxury trims on 430s. The only thing his car lacked was the vault like solid feel and super strong body structure of the 1970s and 1980s Mercedes Benz cars. The W126 that was concurrently in production with the first 2 years of the LS had that going for it. When you open and shut the door on the older MB cars it is so solid, sturdy, and high quality. No other car had that same quality. The LS doors feel flimsy in compassion but hey, it had outstanding crash safety ratings.

I always chuckled when reviewers complained about the Lexus being too boring and expensive for what you got. The Mercedes is faster, it's more luxurious... blah blah blah. The Lexus took the super engineered Mercedes Mojo from the 1960s diesels and made their luxury car even more reliable than the most reliable Mercedes ever built. I was initially neutral about the looks of the Lexus LS400 LS430, but now I love the looks, because I know the character of the car. It's easy to argue that these are the best luxury cars ever built. It’s a friend who will never ever let you down. It's a friend whose pleasant looks are just a hint of the phenomenal character, wisdom, balance and excellence underneath the superficial looks and statistics. Just like beautiful people who are terrible people stop being beautiful after you know them, this car continues to get more and more beautiful as you get to know it. Great review

Fun fact its fun to drive slow cars fast case in point my last LC service i was lent a UX for fun i took it and on the drive home on the highway i was greeted by a last gen Z08 hauling, but traffic was thick. So use your streanghts which mine was. I was small and nimble and i rang the FK out of that little cars life. Hillariously keeping up with the Z08 (the traffic allowed it) when it loosened up the guy gave me a wave and took off. I'm in the slow car fast camp too. I'd love to have a Miata that I can use all of its potential on a winding back road without worrying about its or the legal limits. A Corvette is nice but unless on a track or the Autobahn it's not being used to its potential. Give it too much gas on a narrow back road and it's sliding into something that shouldn't be slid into.

I'm going to guess that it didn't do all those miles up here in the rust belt.

Reliability is awesome. With rountine maintenance, it could go another 600k miles.

Before I watch, I will be very impressed if that is the original 3UZ. I have read bad things about the 3UZ, and I am curious if that is true in this case. I loved the 2UZ in the Sequoia we had growing up. I have read that the 1UZ and 2UZ were practically bulletproof. I have personally worked on a 1st gen Sequoia with 400,000+ miles. Ours got to ~195,000 with very little problems (user error). I am very curious to see what magic the owners? have done to this car. *Edit ORIGINAL 3UZ Huh, guess I was very wrong about that engine

Actually the content creator here got it incorrect the engine is original yes but the car care nut did replace the transmission with a low mileage unit from salvage yard

Man if it wasn't for the fuel consumption I'd kill for this as my daily. Only issue then would be all the cars in my stable would be automatic if I replaced my current daily.

My daily driver is a 2001 LS430 with 359k miles. I’m the original owner. On the highway, I get 25-29 miles per gallon! That’s right lane, keeping RPMs below 3,000.
