Yep....only difference is...I bought my street glide new. It wasn't much more expensive than the 5 year old one right next to it. But it came with a warranty. No accessories, no mods. Just me and the bike. Oh, and no true riding gear except a good pair of glasses. If I lay it down, I dont want to get back up. I'm already pretty jacked up, a lay down at highway speeds isn't something I want to feel for the rest of my life.

Harleys are a different grove all together. I ride sport bikes but when I tell my buddies I used to have a Superglide in my garage they almost always ask me why. I tell them my Harley was an always broken, slow, heavy, no handling, no stopping pig but it was also insanely fun to ride. If it's on two wheels, it's cool.

However I still love to ride and wave at anyone on two wheels and will stop to help you if your broke down so if ya wanna dirt on people who ride something other than a crotch rocket you should remember that no matter what we ride we all share the same love of being free and in the wind. I might by how u ride bc goon riding is stupid and no place on public streets but what u ride is your choice. I grew up riding whatever I could afford. Dirt bikes, Japanese street bikes, crotch rockets, whatever i could, until i could afford a Harley. Then i never looked back. Not because I thought it would make me more cool or more badass than anyone else, but because thats what i like. I had a group of friends that all rode together for several years. Myself and a couple others had Harleys, a couple guys had rockets, one had a custom built chopper, one a home built cb 750 cafe racer, and one guy had an 81 Goldwing. None of us cared what the others were riding. All we cared about is that we were riding together. We were family. Brothers and sisters. If one of us broke down, the rest were right there trying to help get the bike going again. If one of us needed a bike, someone else had one to loan him, just to keep him on the road. We rode together, we drank together, laughed together, and when tragedy struck we, cried and hurt together. I dont know why this guy feels like he has to bash on Harley, and Harley owners. I cant help but think that limited experience in motorcycle community mostly comes from being to scared to venture far from his small corner of the world......and Sons of Anarchy episodes. Hopefully when he grows up, he will have the chance to experience the camaraderie and brotherhood, that the majority of us have had the pleasure of enjoying throughout our years of riding. No matter what color we bleed!

I wasnt stupid enough to buy a new Harley for $32k or higher. I have had a load of new motorcycles including Honda, Yamaha, Harley (very first bike was bought new) and Suzuki. I currently own a 2018 VMax and 2016 Ultra Limited. The Ultra Limited was bought in Dec 2019 for $18k OTD with 15 miles on it. The bike is a money pit, but I knew that before I bought it. I only bought it because it was like getting a new Harley for half the price of new. Of all the bikes I ever owned, the only one I regret selling was my 2006 Hayabusa Limited. Absolutely phenomenal bike. Of all the bikes I have ever owned that I regretted, it would have to be the Harleys. Performance is shit, expensive to maintain, need to replace a million parts and has a higher breakdown rate.

I ride a cruiser, I’ll never think sport bikes are cooler. I look at cruisers as hot rods or muscle cars - slower than a sports car, but you buy them for the torque, look, and sound. I am definitely open to trying a sport bike, but I rather hit a track. No interest in riding a sport bike maxed out on the roads with other cars around. It’s hard enough not to speed on my 550lb 1200cc small v twin

I've enjoyed your vids for a while. I have experience in two of you cruiser categories. I qualified as Metric Cruise Bro twice. Once with an 04 V Star and once with an 05 Road Star. Don's judge too quickly on reliability. Both of them were mechanical nightmares that saw as much jack stand time as on the road. I now have an 09 Road King putting me into Midwest Cruiser Bro domain. Wasn't specifically looking for a Harley, but it was in good shape at a good price. I've had it for three years and all I've done is regular maintenance and replaced the chain tensioner. I don't care what you ride as long s you're on two wheels and you not being a douche. Keep posting, Yammie Noob!

"Metric cruisers" are called metric not because they define their displacement in cubic centimeters (Harley also does this with a lot of their bikes like the 883 and 1200), but because the nuts and bolts and other fasteners of the bikes are in metric (centimeter, millimeter) , rather than standard, sizes. Harleys historically used standard US sizes (inches, feet, etc...). Truth be told, though, even Harley now uses a lot of metric fasteners in its bikes.

You forgot one of the bigger groups. I've owned 38 (street legal) bikes. Mostly Japanese, but there have been Harleys and even a Moto Guzzi. Most of my bikes were in the sport category until I was in my mid-40s, then my back just couldn't take it anymore. At 54 I'm nowhere near ready to quit riding, and the metric cruisers fit my life now. My V Star 1300 tourer still runs 13 second quarter miles, so it's not fast but it's still quick enough to be entertaining. It stopped and is around a hundred and thirty unless you're the windshield on and then it's 120s. It's comfortable, reliable, and not as overpriced as a Harley. So I guess put me in the Aging motorcyclist, midwest, metric cruiser list. I think you'll find there's a lot of us out there.

I am sort of with you man, I ride a BMW 09 1200rt, used to ride Japanese, British and a Harley in the 70's, my bike is real quiet and I do wear a leather jacket and pants in the winter here in south Tx, I'm not trying to fit into any bike group, just have fun and feel free riding, I could not afford even a used Harley or I'd be on one, I can't believe how much even the older one's cost, Japanese bikes cost so much less and can look just like a Harley, the Yamaha's have the V Star which looks the most and has the very best Harley sound but my bike was in my price range and BMW's just look so odd even to me but I sure do get an awful lot of compliments on it from every one, it looks black but is a very, very dark metallic grey, I don't like the color at all, I like cherry red or candy apple red better but I didn't buy it new, BMW's are so darned advanced and so are Honda Goldwings now, have fun and stay safe all.

I once went to Daytona speed week. Every street was lined with parked Harleys, tens of thousands of them. Soon I realised that most had been trailered to town, not ridden. In fact owning a Harley is more about joining a club than riding which I think a lot of them don't enjoy. Not surprising as hogs have been truly described as a piece of agricultural machinery disguised as a motorcycle.

When you kiddies get older, you will understand that & when you are really old you transfer to a trike. Each bike is made for a different purpose. Started out 40 years ago as “broke” 80’s cruiser guy... I’ve run the gamut over the years From an H1triple two stroke to a couple XS400’s to a kz11, a GS11GK, VF1000R, ZX11, finally graduated to buying a new FJR and now have settled down with a C50 boulevard that is a bit tame but keeps me safe and ticket-free. Like someone else said: I’m the Lone Wolf category... I have always had a company truck and generally have been a bike only guy who does epic relocation tours about every half decade, ride when and where I want, got the camping gear to pull up stops and roam, but also just enjoy going for groceries, being stoic and prepared for rain or cold. The cruiser, which performance-wise is probably the worst of the bikes I’ve owned, suits my needs and gets more spectator love than any of the others...it used to amuse me when they’d oooh and ahhh over the Boulevard and completely ignore the costly bad ass FJR in bright red next to it. Post Divorce, Bankruptcy, and a courtesy-of-Covid stroke, I’m just glad to ride...anything... and I guess I’ll be the “broke metric bro” all over again. (Although, thanks to the divorce, I’ve once again got my eye on the market for a sweet deal on the next one).

I have the original Vmax competition, which is so often forgotten these days the Sabre. 125hp and 75ftlb isnt crazy by todays standards but she still pulls a 2 second 0-60 if youre crazy enough to try she taps out over 150, not to bad for a bike older than most of the guys watching me from their gxrs

Great video. Spot on. I opted for the BMW K1200LT. And, yes, I had a Rocket III and a Victory Sport Cruiser. Loved them all. Was going for a Harley and the BMW won, Reliability for me is the most important now.

6:32..... Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad1500 proud metric bro here! And what he said right here is correct. I spend little to no money per year in repairs, other than regular wear and tear. Brakes, tires, oil, but that's it. In 15 yrs I've bought 3 bikes for a grand total of 6300$ and rode em till I sold em with little loss. I've put more money into aftermarket add ons than repairs! Never any oil under em either! And I sleep like a baby with no bike payments..... EVER....

I am riding my third Harley in ten years. I put about 10,000 - 15,000 miles a year on my bike. During that ten years, I have been stranded only one time and that was because of a freakish flat tire incident. Harleys are extremely reliable in my mind.

"A Guy can have a motorcycle without having it consume his entire life".... I love that statement, I often say this to the Harley guys that I know that talk smack about my bikes. I tell them that my bike doesn't define me, theirs does. And I'm not a "Rider", I'm a "Motorcyclist", that always confuses them 🤣. I suppose I fit into 3 of these categories, I ride sportbike (CBR1000RR), a muscle cruiser (Warrior XV1700) and a metric cruiser (Vulcan Classic VN1500). It's nice to go out into the garage and have a choice on what to ride that day.

Dedicated Cruiser Bro here, personal weakness for Harley-Davidson but mega-respect for anyone who takes the risk and responsibility of getting on two wheels with a motor attached. I'd say I fit closest to category #7: the only accessories my bike has got are an S&S carb and the after-market pipes, and everyone, mopeds and otherwise, gets the nod. Think this channel is a wonderful meeting point for like-minded individuals, and look forward to years more commentary/instruction.
