To be fair, in a vg you are going to try EVERYTHING at least once, just because you can. By example, the best way to make sure you look at something is to tell the player to NOT look at it. You just need to see what happens, because if the developers went out of their way to tell you to not do so, then they sure have put some consecuences there. At that point, the best way to troll a gamer is to not make anything happen... for now, and get your consecuences later, when you forgot about it. The easiest way is just to not put anything, and look at the comunity try to find what they are missing. I remember doing that with the bell in the X-Files game lol. Now I work in a job with a bell and people do it to me. I can say being fired feels like a justifiable punishment. :P

In The X Files game you can also get fired by shining a torch in Skinner's face too many times, or trying to arrest him. 😂

What about any call of duty game. If you get caught up in the chaos of war and accidentally shoot an ally or a civilian (which 5/10 look like the enemies) you automatically failed the mission. Also presumably tried for war crimes before a clone of you takes on where you left off.

The one I remember as a kid was the PC version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." Sit around on the start up screen for too long and Regis Philbin yells at you and closes the game. It scared me so much, I didn't touch the game again.

My favourite example is the Stanley Parable, where the narrator gets really annoyed at you for staying in the broom closet for too long, ends the game, and then boards it up for your next playthrough.

I like the one in "South Park: the stick of truth", where you are asked to go into Mr. slave and remove his Snuke. If you refuse and just walk out the door, the snuke will explode and the game ends.

I wonder if the use of jellyfish samples in the sandwich is a reference to an incident in the 90s where some idiot put water bottles and bottles of jellyfish samples in the same fridge in very similar bottles, leading a coastguard drinking the jellyfish by mistake.

I totally forgot about X-Files games. I played that game so many times to see every outcome or variation. That's why these lists are amazing, they always spark a memory. I now must search all my old gaming stuff and see if I still have it to play again. Keep up the great content!

As I'd always had a thing for Skinner in the X-Files, when given the opportunity to use handcuffs on him, I took it, thinking it might lead to an impromptu bondage session. No such luck. They took my badge and gun, and gave me a game over screen.

Or a decent, story driven new game (I like Resist or Serve's story, but it was not nearly as good as the one from the FMV). Also having the same "Suite from the X-Files" tracks as music playing on a loop became quite tiresome after a while - although I love Mark Snow's music.

And then Nancy Drew and ex-Agent Wilmore teamed up to start hunting for Bigfoot in the North Cascades. But after Drew started eating any random thing she found in the woods, and Wilmore was just straight-up annoying, Bigfoot said "screw this" and smacked them both with a sledgehammer.
