Jocko ! Where’s my Power! 🤣 I know when my husband bought a few Powerstrokes several years ago for company trucks for the guys and he put tunes on them. When he had some issues and took them to the Ford dealer he took the tunes off concerned about them giving some grief about warranty. The issue was… he could take the tune off but the dealer saw the other upgrades ( A pillar gauge cluster and hole drilled in the exhaust manifold to measure EGT’s) that led them to believe the motor had been performance tuned. He had to fight Ford pretty hard to get them to cover the issues under warranty. This was back in 2005 when the Super Duty Powerstrokes where having tons of issues with their injectors. He got them to cover the issue but it took some work and even had to involve a specific warranty attorney.

Nissan is being childish refusing to let them use their cars because they didn't give the Nav a glowing review. It's great that they don't have the Nav now. Shows which companies are happy to back their products against a review that wasn't pre-determined. Very much sick of all these car magazine mobs "reviewing" cars and giving them all gold stars to keep the manufacturers happy. It completely destroys the point of a review. If a manufacturer doesn't want to give a product to a reviewer who wont agree to only be positive, then the manufacturer knows they have made a sub par product.

Hate to be "That Guy" but leaves me wondering: On the surface this looks excellent. But if it's so good, why don't the manufacturers do it from the factory? Having a huge power gain over their competition would be a massive marketing advantage. It leads me to think that there has to be a tradeoff. You don't get something for nothing. The car makers spend billions developing these vehicles and if they could get another 30% power and torque with no downside they'd jump at it. Putting more power thru the drivetrain one would expect things to break more often. Reliability might take a hit. Maybe the power sits where it does because the makers have bad;anced out the power vs reliability/longevity equation. And if you tune a new car and something breaks, the dealer can see it's been modded and that gives him carte blanche to say sayonara to your warrantee. These tunes might be good for a vehicle that's out of warrantee though.

@@garysheppard4028 I'd say this goes with many things, not just cars. but basically I guess the deal is the manufacturer has to meet certain requirements and standards in order to be able to sell a product to certain markets (eg Australia or Europe might be a lot more strict unlike the USA. Hence why they get loads of different vehicles. ) What the purchaser of that product or vehicle then does is completely up to them since its now their own private property. If I remember correctly, I read a few months ago that Audi and Mercedes (possibly VW too) have stated they will no longer be continuing to develop any new petrol or diesel powered cars by the end of the decade. All to do with emissions standards becoming more and more of a challenge to meet. So electric is becoming their main focus.

Yes pretty much mate. We improve on the manufactuer's tune. There are quite a few things that you should ask tuners - 1. Do they tune every vehicle separately? 2. Do they have a dyno? 3. They should also ask you what you use your car for & ask you what your goals are with the tune. There are lots of places out there that will just simply load a tune file into your ECU & call that a "tune", which is not the case, so be careful. Depending on which area you are from - we have several agents around Australia so we could help you out there.

If a tuned motor goes bang! who is there to pick up the pieces? Certainly not the manufacturer. They will run for the hills. And I doubt the tuner will be there either. He'll refer you to the fine print. If you want more power get a car with more power standard. Utes were never meant to be Ferraris. BTW: Now you have more power but same brakes and suspension which on just about every ute ever sold are garbage (Especially that dreadful 79 series bucket). Nice safe combo that. These cars are tuned the way they are for five reasons the manufacturer has to balance carefully that a tuner does not. 1. Reliability. 2. Economy. 3. Emissions. 4. Noise. 5. Power. Push one of those envelopes and you're playing fire with the others. Not a fan

I'd love to see a before and after EGT figures, of any of their "tuned" engines. Manufacturers spend millions of dollars and thousands of man hours on R&D to ensure the vehicle can not only perform as advertised but for it to be reliable whilst doing it. EGTS, emisdions, noise, atmospheric temps, altitude, humidity etc all play into a tune and manufacturers leave a inbuilt safety margin so to speak in order to ensure reliable operation no matter what the circumstances. I like these videos, I think they're cool, but I would suggest people do their homework prior to tuning a new vehicle. No matter what they say, your warranty dies the moment your standard engine tune is modified, food for thought. If they say otherwise get them to put in writing that they'll replace your manufacturers engine warranty with their own and replace it no matter what if it dies within that warranty period, I think you'll quickly find excuses flying at you left and right

Why have you got beef with the Navara? You're not scared are you? 😂 Would be nice to see the Navara included in future videos as they're a popular choice of 4WD too.

Would have been nice to see how the little Nav engine being a small 2.3 twin turbo went. Going by the averages can we expect 30percent gains out of one or do you bundle it in the too hard basket with the 2.0 twin turbo ranger. Seems the future is less displacement and staged turbos.

We couldn't feature every ute mate! We custom dyno tune a lot of the NP300s as well. They make, on average, around the 30% gains mark with the twin-turbo engine and a bit less with the single turbo engine.

My v6 rok does 0-100 in mid 5s to 6s. That’s with 32inch nitto ridges and roof platform and awning. Things a blast to drive

Interesting results, the question I have is regarding Shauno's comment of safe tune, what considerations are taken into account regarding the driveline being able to handle the extra torque and live with it over time?

We have never had any driveline issues, other than factory clutches. The drivelines in the vehicles are all strong & can easily handle the extra torque.

Glad to see no Navara’s in these videos from 4wd247 since that first dual cab review video. Honestly it’s better that way
